View Full Version : Anomen's knighthood quest won't start
Anjo Wed, 25th Oct '06, 2:39am I made fresh install of ToB and official patch. Then I got inspiration from one of Klorox's topic to install G3 Fixpack and tweaks only. Then I decided to try something wich has always been impossible for me when playing BG2, The Ultimate Challenge of patience and prowess; taking Anomen in the party and keep him all the way to the Throne. Not to romance him ofcourse, that would be a too much!
Anyway, Anomen's sister quest started and I went too see his father and maybe I took wrong dialog option :o as I was one the phone sametime. I'm not sure because I never have Anomen in the party long enough before. Then I went to spellhold to get Imoen back and been doing other quests since while waiting Knighthood quest to get Wis improvement. Did I do something wrong? I've tried resting and it is 42nd gameday now. What are the Global Variables to get thing started? I tried to search but couldn't find anything.
And I have to add that everytime I hear that nasal voice saying "What is it now?" it makes me want to throw my flaptop out of window. Hardest thing in BG2 is keep that f***** in the party!
Klorox Wed, 25th Oct '06, 3:07am Which option did you select in the dialogue (check your journal)?
If you chose the "Good" dialogue, you need to go to that "law office" north of Anomen's fathers house and try to bring the killer to justice that way. If you chose the "Chaotic" dialogue, I think you need to hunt the dude down and kill him.
Anjo Wed, 25th Oct '06, 3:34am This is funny, In my journal there isn't any mention about this quest, not in "quests" or in "done quests". I went in to government section to try to talk the officers and quess what? Somebody came to talk with Anomen and told he is needed by Sir Ryan Tawl(?) So I quess this is it.
Thanks anyway! I'm going to see what happens rightaway.
Marceror Wed, 25th Oct '06, 4:53am What is your party's reputation? I'm pretty sure you need to have at least an 18 reputation before Sir Ryan Trawl will appear and tell Anomen the time has come.
In my current game I have Anomnen, and Trawl showed up before I went to Spellhold. My rep was 18 exactly.
EDIT: oops, didn't notice that Ryan had already appeared. Good luck with the Ceremony!
kuemper Wed, 25th Oct '06, 5:12am A messenger should show up about a week or so of Anomen being in your party, telling him his sister is dead. If your PC told Anomen to take revenge for his sister, he won't become a Knight of the Order. If your PC told him not to kill Saerk ("killing for revenge is evil" iirc), then he'll get on to his knighthood. Talk to Bylanna at the council of 7 building in the gov't area. Another week or 2 after that, Ryan Trawl will show up and tell Anomen it's time for his test.
Reputation has nothing to do with it. It purely dialogue options.
Anjo Wed, 25th Oct '06, 9:09am Anomen was knighted but I never talked to Bylanna. It was about 3 weeks after visiting his father and my reputation was 18.
I use Ctr+J heavily when I play, that might be a reason for delay, maybe messenger had difficulties keeping up. Or maybe not.
Kara Ay Wed, 25th Oct '06, 9:36am Do you know what's more annoying?Listening to Edwin...While Anomen is arrogant,Edwin is downright evil,tempered and annoying....He always says:"What's is it now?","One day,one day..."..Gr...
I like him because of his stats but he sometimes makes me wanna wring his neck...
kuemper Wed, 25th Oct '06, 2:15pm Anomen was knighted but I never talked to Bylanna.Let us know if you ever confront Anomen at Saerk's mansion.
Messengers won't show up while you're on Brynnlaw, in Spellhold, Sauguin City and the Underdark.
Mordokai Wed, 25th Oct '06, 10:16pm Do you know what's more annoying?Listening to Edwin...While Anomen is arrogant,Edwin is downright evil,tempered and annoying....He always says:"What's is it now?","One day,one day..."..Gr...
I like him because of his stats but he sometimes makes me wanna wring his neck... Ccccc :nono: At least Edwin is funny in his remarks, while Anomen is just plain annoying. And while I had no problems listening to Edwin complaining over SoA and Tob combined, I was full of Anomen after first five minutes. And about his stats, he has only 74 points iirc, which is one of the lowest iirc again. But I don't have the patience to check it now.
Sikret Wed, 25th Oct '06, 10:42pm Anomen is an illegal dual-class character in the original game. His wisdom score doesn't qualify dualling to cleric. This error is fixed by Improved Anvil mod. :)
The Shaman Wed, 25th Oct '06, 11:55pm Interesting: by the time some post approaches the 15th comment, someone seems bound to mention Improved Anvil. It is worse than me and Dragon 310 on the Wizards board :D
Out of curiosity, though, how much is Ano's wisdom, and will getting him in the order improve it?
Felinoid Thu, 26th Oct '06, 12:25am Went looking for the answer to that myself when I saw that post. According to the documentation, he'll be at 17 WIS when you meet him and rise to 18 WIS if he gets into the Order. Nothing that outrageous.
Anjo Thu, 26th Oct '06, 12:30am According to the documentation, he'll be at 17 WIS when you meet him and rise to 18 WIS if he gets into the Order. What I'm missing here? In my game Anomen's Wis was 12 and then 16.
Felinoid Thu, 26th Oct '06, 12:31am You're missing Improved Anvil, would be my guess. ;) Don't pay attention to our little off-topicness.
Anjo Thu, 26th Oct '06, 12:34am Ah, thanks! I was wondering...
