I just finished my BG1 Solo powergaming fighter/mage/thief named Kane Stromberg. He started as a chaotic good person and I managed to do all the goodie goodie quests with him. But as fate has a bit of irony he casted a deathcloud in the undercellar when fighting slythe and kristen, unfortunatly that cloud killed 12 (innocent ;) ) woman in the undercellar. My reputation dropped to 2 and flaming fist enforcers were on my every step. Instead of reloading as I usually do I thought about the situation a bit and realized it would be the perfect roleplaying BGII chance.

This person always on the side of good and honored by everyone he met suddenly became evils incarnation and was despised by the whole of Baldur's Gate. He struggles within himself condemning and at the same time defending the incident in the undercellar. He creates a split personality, the good one is the mage, the bad one is the fighter (the thief is for practical reasons). If provoked the fighter becomes berserk and will kill anything in his path (at this point he may not use spells) if normal he is the mage and can only cast spells.

In Athkatla he decides he can't go alone (he realizes both persons) and may need help. Imoen get kidnapped in the first chapter and the good mage vows to rescue her while the fighter vows his revenge to irenicus.

My question who should I take along roleplaying wise. Imoen I will rescue so she will represent my good part. I was thinking of Aerie for a romance and my only tie to the good part, and Anomen (failing his test) for the evil side. I want to have a party of 4 or 5 and take Sarevok in TOB. I was thinking about Jan or Hear-Dalis but that would be to much mages. I need to have some more evil influence in the party.

I have numerous mods installed including: kelsy, chloe, solafein, unfinished business and tactics (not all from tactics though)

Any suggestions?

Korgan!!
If you take Aerie and Anomen with a failed test, you will have two multiclassed mages (you and Aerie) who won't level that fast, and one crappy cleric (low wisdom). I would suggest ditching Aerie and taking Edwin. You can keep Anomen though.
So that would be:
You - F/M/T
Korgan
Anomen
Edwin
Imoen
Sarevok

I really want to evolve my character around Aerie. One reason because I've never romanced her before and the second because she may be my characters help to get rid of the 'fighter' side. Korgan and Aerie don't go together so I wrote off Korgan.

I want Anomen in because he will fail his test and becomes a force of evil himself. I will make him ;)

I don't mind having a lot of multi or dual classers, I am purely role playing and it makes the game tougher which is a good thing.

I am also open to mods, even ones without a certain quest or dialogue. I am chroniceling (sp?) this adventure myself and will make up a lot of personality for all characters. I already have about ten pages of text and I'm barely out of chateau Irenicus. I am just stumped on picking my companions role playing wise.

I was thinking Haer dalis for his chaotic view on all things but he isn't really evil, and edwin is in my opinion to humerous to be really evil.

I am using Aerie in a semi-evil party and she is great. I have Skald (CN), Korgan, Jaheira, Aerie, Delainy and Jan. I would have taken Haer'D but I am play testing Delainy so didn't have room for him on this journey.

With Aerie in your party you have to take Haer'D as you can get involved in a great love triangle, plus Haer'D becomes one of the most pwerful characters later on. His spins plus Tensers make him just awesome. He has his spells to help out as well, plus you can use the enhanced bard song on TOB as well.

Doesn't Anomen attack Aerie if he fails his test? Can he still be in the party after this?

I would recommend Jaheira or Cernd, as Druid spells are the best against mages. You can justify Jaheira as she sees it as her responsibility to stay with you and help/look after you no matter what.

If you want a change, try the Delainy (from BG1) mod. She is a Lyncanthrope Bard and good fun to have around (NG though).

Valen is excellent in an evil party.

Could someone confirm this? While it would be great from a role playing point, I am already searching good members and Anomen was choice number one.

Valen seems too powerful for my taste with her draining ability.

Anomen will indeed attack Aerie if you make him fail his test.
She attempts to support and sooth him at some point, alas, Anomen will only get that much more frustrated and starts to club Aerie to death.
I had to kill Annoyme to safe her life.

Weak, there goes another member. It seems I have an extra spot, more suggestions may prove helpful.

Who do you have so far? All I know is:
you
Imoen
Aerie
Sarevok

What happens when a Paladin becomes fallen? I wonder if you could take Keldorn and turn him into a fallen paladin.

Ans those are the 4 npc so far.

It's great fun playign a character like that. My last char was a good guy that helped everyone, through all of BG1. Unfortunately, he became consumed by his Taint after Irenicus took his soul. (He didn't even care when Imoen, Anomen or Aerie, his love, died. And he sacrificed Minsc to Demogorgon in the underdark)
He managed to somewhat redeem himself, by turning down godhood, at the Throne of Bhaal. After that he disappeared and became sort of a "dark wanderer"

Poor guy :p

What about Valygar? He distrusts evil and magic, and cautions you more than once about the dangers of your heritage. With the juxtaposition of good mage/evil fighter, he wouldn't know what to do until after the Planar Sphere quest. After that, he'd probably see the mage side as the PC's salvation, along with his relationship with Aerie. I think the brooding ranger would be an excellent addition to that mob. Plus, he and Sarevok get along surprisingly well and he does not conflict with any other NPCs, and the man can fight and scout well.

Bard's comments about HD are spot on. He isn't evil, he just is, and he'd probably be most intrigued by the PC (and Aerie) as well as his penchant for leaving a path of destruction. That said, the party might get a little mage-heavy, esp. since you already have the PC, Imoen and Aerie as spellcasters. Maybe HD could be in until you fight over Aerie and just before you leave for Spellhold, after which he is replaced by Imoen.

Also, I think Viconia would be a fantastic party member for this character, especially in a romance. I know you put Aerie at the top of the list, but Viconia is always pushing the PC to embrace his/her heritage. The two of them are like darkness and light, and the PC would eventually have to choose one over the other (unless your PC is an elf... which would nix the Viconia idea).

IIRC, only a PC paladin can "fall". Keldorn will just leave or possibly even attack you, depending on your actions.

The nice thing about Haer'Dalis is that if you have a fair number of Mages, he doubles very nicely as a front liner -- give him some good armour and a two handed sword or a halberd (or, of course some good short swords or long swords) and let him do his stuff! As for other people to take, well, I like Jan, as his thieving is invaluable, but since your character has that sort of covered, then consider Cernd. He has good spells, he's not unfocussed like Jaheira (and while I love the Tethyrian dearly, she CAN be a pain in the butt) and he's all about balance (which means you REALLY have to drop your rep before he'll leave.) Of course, if you are worried about front liners, well, Jaheira may be a good choice then.

Well my choices so far (But I like Nonsequitur's Valygar Idea)

Me (fighter mage thief)
Aerie (I've romanced Viccy one time to many)
Anomen (failing his test) (maybe if he attacks Aerie I'll replace him with valygar, I just wish to know how far in the game that's going to happen)
Kelsey (don't know how this will go story wise, maybe Valygar in this spot)
Jan (Imoen will replace him.
Haer'Dalis

I realize that's a lot of spellcasters, but it should be doable until I get Sarevok, besides my PC with stoneskin and several other protections should do the trick.

I am planning going to the Asylum very late, so this character will be wrestling with himself a lot before he finds Immy.

That's almost too mage heavy imo unless you're playing on a very easy difficulty level.

I'm with Rastor - there doesn't seem to be enough fighting power in that party. Sure, spells are great, but you need people to keep monsters off your spellcasters, and it seems like only the PC and Anomen can do that (or HD, with some good items). I'd probably replace Kelsey with either Keldorn or Minsc, and have Imoen replace the other when she returns. I'd recommend Korgan, but he and Aerie don't get along. I don't think you need Jan - the PC can cover the thief skills until you get Imoen back.

You could just use Anomen until you're forced to kill him (when he attacks Aerie) and then get Valygar to continue on with - it shouldn't be too long (in real time, probably a couple of hours at most). Same for Haer'Dalis and the Aerie romance, although I'm not sure whether he stays around if Aerie chooses you.
