I've heard in passing that cromwell can upgrade stuff beyond the basic artifacts, but I haven't been able to find a list. Can anyone tell me what these items are and what I need?

The only one that isn't the regular parts item is the Improved Mace of Destruction (Mace of Destruction + Illithium).

Try here:

There's a lot of other good info there as well. You might also have a look here:

Or how about looking on SP, the boards of which you're posting on?

Download "Complete Baldur's Gate II & Throne of Bhaal FAQ and Walkthrough", it's got a full list of everything Cromwell can do.

As silly as it may sound I generally try to avoid downloading things unless I absolutely have to. I prefer online tutorials primarily because there's so little memory on this hunk of junk that I have to do a disk cleanup once a week to be able to keep playing. So, my apologies for not looking there first and thanks for the help.

OK, basically the list is:

Crom Faeyr (Hammer of Thunderbolts, Crom Faeyr Scroll, Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, and Girdle of Frost Giant Strength) At least I think it's Frost Giant - whatever one you get in the underdark is the one you need.

Wave Halberd (Wave Head and Wave Shaft)

Equalizer (blade, hilt, pommel)

Silver Sword (blade, hilt)

Additionally, there are crafted items that aren't in the standard index, but he offers them to use if you have both the Mace of Disruption and Illitium. He won't say anything if you come with just the MoD - you need to bring the illitium with you.

Also, if you happen to find an ankeg, he can make ankeg armor, although by the time you go out to the windspear hills (the only place I know of where ankegs can be found) you usually already have better armor. About the only person that it will help is Viconia, because of it's low weight. It's also a little cheaper than buying Full Plate mail, so I suppose that's another advantage.

The ankheg armor is also supposed to be able to be worn by those limited to non-metallic armors such as druids so it might be useful for some protagonists who lack other options.

One more thing I forgot to mention. If you install the item upgrade mod, then there are literally dozens of items Cromwell can forge.

Plus you forgot the Gesen Bow.

And the red dragon plate you can get made from Firkraag's scales, as well as the shadow dragon scale.

Iirc, ankegs can also be found in the Small Teeth Pass area (the lower left hand corner), once you get out of the underdark. By *that* point in the game, everyone in a 6 member party should have better armor.

Oh yeah, Aldeth, you forgot to list all the extras Cromwell will make if you install the Item Upgrade mod. ;) :rolling:
