View Full Version : How to get rid of spell effect around main character?
Balmung Fri, 22nd Jun '01, 4:17am That spell effect (not sure which one it is) is getting REALLY annoying. It looks like there is an option in setup for getting rid of it for all characters, but I just want it gone for my main character since it's permanent. Also, in SoA he had (and still has) the Cloak of Mirroring and the spell deflect symbol was always in the character icon, but the symbol is gone now. What gives with that?
Bowie Fri, 22nd Jun '01, 5:21am I'm pretty sure it's the cloak of mirroring that's causing the effect. I'm a little annoyed by it as well.
Balmung Fri, 22nd Jun '01, 5:28am You're right. I was thinking it was a result of gaining my immunity to +1 weapons with the Bhaal's tears thing. It didn't make much sense that it would have that effect though. I thought the glowing disc was annoying enough, but that spell shield is driving me crazy.
Pyrion Mon, 25th Jun '01, 9:40am If it's all that necessary for you, you can either download the Infinity Engine Editor Pro from the TeamBG site, http://www.teambg.com as well as the BIF extractor tool, or tell me what item you want changed and I'll remove the effect animation and send it back to you.
Pyrion Mon, 25th Jun '01, 9:42am As for the spell deflect icon, I believe that's a result of Bioware having changed the grossly overpowered ability of the Cloak of Mirroring. It no longer uses the built-in function of Spell Deflection, instead it absorbs spells and the item description was changed to say "reflected harmlessly away". That's why the icon disappeared.
Taluntain Mon, 25th Jun '01, 10:56am Pyrion, go read the forum Rules/FAQ which you should have read before registering.
Especially the section about double posting: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/faq.html#doubles

Balmung Mon, 25th Jun '01, 2:40pm Where I come from (ye othere hallowed UBB sites, non-CRPG related dontcha know) we call double posting PPPP, or, pretty-pathetic-post-padding and is, in fact, a generally recognized annoyance deservable of Dante's proverbial 6th level at the very least. On the other hand, having the ability to edit posts allows said poster the ability to change the past, a la, "I never said that!" as those on The Straight Dope generally opine.
Me? I could care less.
Taluntain Mon, 25th Jun '01, 3:37pm With about 50k posts on the boards I have yet to see a case where someone changes his post in that way. Pretty idiotic if he/she would, it's not like no one read them before. Heh.
Balmung Mon, 25th Jun '01, 3:56pm Absolutely. I used that same argument myself over on The Straight Dope. They didn't seem to care for my opinion.
Pyrion Mon, 25th Jun '01, 9:39pm Yeah, except where I come from, which amounts to about twenty other messageboards, nobody could really care less about doubleposting because post counts are irrelevant. I apologize for doing it here, however.
