View Full Version : Romancing Aerie, and how to conclude it properly

I've finished the game, but my romance with Aerie only got to just beyond the point to where we became an item; that came about just after entering the Asylum, and Jaheria wanted me to tell Aerie to back off, and I didn't.

What do I needed to do in order to get the romance storyline to conclude properly ? I assume I would have to keep playing for longer in order to for the storyline to develop and conclude. If that is the case, is there any way around having to replay the game from the beginning in order to see the romance storyline conclude properly ?

I just did this also. It looks like that is the end of it in SOA. If you install TOB then it picks up again. Like you, I was dissapointed that nothing else in SOA happened.

I've been reading up on the romances, and the romance can in fact continue. It'll get to a point where Aerie will offer to sleep with you, but you have to turn her down, or she'll feel you've gone too far too soon, and it will end. However, if do turn her down, later, she'll decide the time is right, and she'll sleep with you, and the storyline will end with both of you happy.

I also believe the storyline can continue in ToB

Yes, but not until TOB. When I just had SOA installed it ended at the "we should wait until later" point.

I've decided on two options to try and conclude the BG2: SoA part of the romance, one of which is to use a cheat involving the Debug Mode.

EDIT: I've found the console, but can't seem to input the needed command, CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("*AERIE* ROMANCE","GLOBAL","1"),

What am I doing wrong ? I took the command from the BioWare forums

The other option is I've come up with is to go back to before I have to side with either the Shadow Thieves or Bodhi, and simply go through each subquest until the romance concludes the way it's meant to.

Why not use SK? Take a look at the Global Variables. If the romance has ended for any reason AerieRomance = 3. Change that to 1.

Baldur.ini file is in your main BG II: SoA directory. Default is C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BG II - SoA\

Just saw your Edit. Try CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("AERIEROMANCE","GLOBAL","1")

I've concluded the Aerie Romance, and it was nicely written, but it is in a seperate game to the one I complete SoA with. Will this affect the Aerie Romance when I transfer over to ToB ?

Of note, I have not yet installed ToB, and will that have an affect ? Will I need to replay the whole game again in order to resume the Aerie Romance ?

The better thing to be would be to install TOB, then replay the final SOA fight (From your "Final Save"). The only way romances carry over is if the variables do, and they won't if you import the character into a different TOB game. Besides, it makes for a better transition.

So I've got it straight in my head:

1) Install ToB
2) Run SoA
3) Load Final Save
4) Finish SoA
5) Carry that party over to ToB

Correct ?

And does this mean the Aerie romance would continue normally in ToB, with it picking up from the latter stages of the SoA storyline, where it's just before the conclusion

Not sure why this got moved into the ToB forum, seeing as I'm talking about a SoA game

Yes but you are also talking about ToB, any ToB content is moved here so there isn't confusion with storyline and any errors.

iirc, you can also import an SoA game when you start ToB. Though iirc, you'd have to import from before you get the stat bonuses, so it is better to play the final fight through again.

As a side note the console command needed you to put ("AerieRomanceActive","GLOBAL","1")

The ToB romance follows on from SoA pretty well - however there are very few dialogues in comparison to SoA and many are event driven.

Coz you have ToB. Thats the rule here, regardless of your question relating to the SoA portion or ToB. Thats becouse ToB does change things, even in the SoA portion.

The ToB part of the romance doesn't really pick up from SoA, in that no dialogues that you would have heard in SoA will be heard in ToB. IIRC if you screwed up in SoA, the romance will not pick up. But whether you finished the romance or it was a work-in-progress, the ToB portion of the romance starts.

I actually don't have ToB, and never said I did, but I see your point
