The thief is the best character class for ToB, i say only one thing, TRAPS!

I managed to kill the first dragon in with a SINGLE Halfling thief! I layed down two spiked traps, two exploding and a Time Stop.

On top of that, they can make potions, scrolls and use any item in the game, EVEN THE CARSOMYR or EQUALIZER!!!

Um... I think you've gotton uh... mixed up... Thieves can't cast Time Stop you know...

I think he's referring to the Thief High-Level Ability Time Trap. Indeed thieves are good, but try a DC Kensai-Thief and open up a can of whoopass.

Indeed, the thief and his high level abilities are awesome. Thiefs have the ability to set a timetrap though this doesn't work on some of the major opponents (there was a thread here). His high level traps are very effective, just like his normal traps too.
With use any item thieves can as well use all magic scrolls and wands, including the time stop scrolls. So in fact a thief *can* use timestop ;)

I once made my halfling pure thief in ToB use the black-blade-of-disaster (combination invented by lokken or headbanger) scroll, time trap and assassination ability, supported by potions of invisibility (for use after first strike) to backstabb the firegiant mage in Yaga-Shura's lair - instant death with a few hundred damage :D

Indeed, i was referring to time STOP, (but for extra measure, why not use a trap too) ;)

I find that a theif wielding a carsomyr or a Crom Faeyr is always good.

Although, I killed my Firegiant mage WITHOUT magic. I used innate abilities:
- Assassination
- Poison weapon x3 (three times the damage!)
- Stealth (BACKSTAB!!!)
- Equalizer

That went to way over LOTS of damage. work it out; Weapon damage(D10), backstab (x7), poison weapon(all that times 3), asassinaton(lots of backstabs). That will be:
(D10x7=70)x3= 210! combinged with 3 attacks per round: 630 damage in one round!!!!

Thieves are god but try this:
Mageslayer then dual at high lev to thief and you get 80+% Magic Resistance and you can continue on as a thief and with the Use All ability you can use any magical item that a mageslayer cannot!Killing time!!

630 damage, lol

thieves are the best in bg2 tob becauz of one ability
