View Full Version : Should I get the Vicked Lady?

OK I am thinking on having the ever-Vicked lady Viconia in my next game. (never took her even for a small time before)

I want to romance her(but ofcourse) but more importantly I want to reddem her, convert to the side of good. I guess it has been asked before, but I do not want to read Romance Guides or other posts (I do not want spoilers)I am just curious and will be glad if you can answer my questions:

1)Is it %100 guarantee that she will be redeemed if I choose right dialogues?

2) Will she leave if my rep. is high EVEN when we are romancing and what can I do to prevent this? (no evil ideas please)

3)I heard her romance is pretty tough. Is it true? Well it can be a considerable change, after easy girl Aerie. (her romance was not complex and too easy) What do you suggest? I have heard from a friend that one should insult her and treat her harshly as she likes it hard? Shouldn't I be too soft? Again I am not asking for spoilers nor I want to read well-written guides (I think they have spoilers too?) I just want a general idea about her as I am ignorant to her ways completely.

Thanks all in advance.

1) yes

2) yes, at least till she gets redeemed.

3) Yes, Viccys romance is easy the hardest in the game (that is at least my opinion).
You have to kind-of jump a bit around emotionally. Can't say more without spoilers :p

IMO, you shouldn't romance her just to "redeem" her; that aspect is one of the hasty ToB additions and isn't really that realistic (when taking into account the original, designed personality).

1) Yes, and if you can guess what they are; congrats.

2) Yes. SK her to some non-evil aligment.

3) Just remember that she will be deceiving you in certain, less-than-pure dialogs. ;)

2) Before you get a reputation increase above 18 dismiss her, get your reputation reward before she asks if you really want to dismiss her and get her back then.
Works also if you want cheaper shop prices.

Alternavive methods:
1)Just don't get more than 18 rep.
2)Install the happy party mod (from ease-of-use for example). Positive side effect: She doesn't annoy you with complaining when you have a high rep.

Thanks for the tips, especially that reputation trick is quite handy! Maybe I will have to install EoU's component if I can't manage it.

Now I will really try her in my next time! But first I must defeat Improved Irenicus and ToB in my current game. (it is my second BIG game and this time it was all the more fun thanks to hard mods I have. I just can not wait to see Ascension!)

Viconia has the hardest romance in the game. Aerie just needs someone to tell her she's not hopeless; Jaheira needs a rock to hold on to. Viconia doesn't need anyone, so it's a fine line between impressing her and pissing her off with insults or weakness.

I haven't ever actually finished a game where I've pulled off the "redemption of Viconia"... and I just finished revisiting KotOR. It just might be time to crack out BG2 again, methinks...

Oh, and Silverstar: the Ascension mod rocks, except for Illasera.

Viconia has the hardest romance in the game. No s***. I just submitted a ToB romance guide for the three females, and Viconia's took me longer than the other two combined, due to the sheer complexity and all the numerous wrong turns you can make. You have to give her constant reassurance that you still want (and love) her, and even then she's b*tchy as usual. That makes it hard to know if you've screwed something up unless you check the "ViconiaRomanceActive" variable constantly.

"Redeeming" her isn't worth it at all IMHO unless you really want to hear the high and mighty Viconia break down and cry. Frankly, it feels a bit tacked on, possibly to appease anyone who would be annoyed that you could change Sarevok, but couldn't melt the woman you 'loved'. If you're going to take Viconia, take her for her bad-ass uber-b*tchy drow self. But if you really just want an icicle to melt, take Jaheira.

/me ducks and runs for cover

But if you really just want an icicle to melt, take Jaheira. Felinoid, I think you'd better hide before Beren sees this one... :p

@ Silverstar: I've tried Viconia's romance and I didn't really enjoy it that much. But if you haven't seen it yet, definitely try it out.

But, I love Ascension and you will too. :)

So it is hard right? That makes it all more appealing to me as I like everything as hard as possible. (even played Improved Ilych and survived to tell the tale! Ilych and his gang could not though. :D ) I think it is definitely my kind of thing!

I now memorized everything about Jaheira's romance, playing it twice, I still love it and will take her too! (her rewards are great and romance is not boring, plus cheating Khalid makes me feel so good! Hope Jaheira never hears that. :p )

Played Aerie once, it was easy and boring, even for the first time. It made me feel sorry for cute Aerie, but lacked the action of Jaheira's and complexity of Viccy's.

Is there a way to romance my Female Bard with Viconia/Aerie
???

Get the Ease of Use mod from weidu.org . One of the components makes the romance tracks ignore race / gender / ugliness etc. :)

^By that way one male PC (like me) can romance Anomen! Maybe when I have nothing new to try, should I give it a shot? Unless he calls me 'my lady' and the like? (outageous but promises to be fun? :D )

@Silverstar:
In the dialogs they use coding language like <PRO_LADYLORD> which assures that you'll be called by the proper pronoun. Sorry, but he'll know you're a guy and keep calling you "my lord". (Though that does set up an interesting master/slave dynamic. I think I'm going to be  from even thinking about it.)

^Really? Are you sure that Anomen's romance dialogues are coded like other normal dialogues?

Then this can prove to be interesting indeed? (till he wants to sleep with PC? :D ) (I am not homophopic but still...his request can be declined yes?)Is there anybody who tried Sola romance with male PC for a similar effect?

 I just did a little checking, and it seems that the romance dialogs have the pronouns hard-coded. The sole exception is Viccy, who has both hard-coded "man" and <PRO_MANWOMAN> in different places, which could get rather confusing in a lesbian romance. :heh:

Slowly I am going throw both BG1 TotSC and BG2 ToB with

Abdel, Imoen, Jaheria, Minsc, Edwin, & Viconcia.

Currently I am in Chapter 3 in BG1 and Viconcia does a great job at damaging oppents and has an AC -5 with the Ank. Armor and a medium shield +2. Once I get into BG she will be equiped with the GoOP and with that equip she will become one of the best tanks in my group and that would allow me to move Minsc towards the back of the line and allow him to throw the throwing axe that returns to the owners hand. In BG2 I will have 4 tanks and Viconcia will be one of them.

Felinoid - I think more often than not, Anomen uses 'My lady' more than the LordLady option. I think most of the romances usually use the normal of what they would romance but a few habits of putting LordLady have occured (I've done it in a few dialogues without meaning to :p ) Though strings can be edited and such, it's best to leave alone and just bear it, unless you really, *really* hate being called Lady :p

You can use the cheats to set XRomanceActive to 1 and the XMatch to 1 as well. Where X is NPC name

Viconia is a challanege as she manipulates the PC and deceives him, both intentionally and through habit/nature.

It's a rough ride, but you'll probably find it's soemthing to be proud of if you need no assistance in it, or even if you do, still something to be proud of :D

@8people:
:o I guess I didn't explain well enough, but that's what I meant by "hard-coded" in the  post. For all the non-programmers out there, hard-coded means a set value as opposed to "variable" coding like the pronoun selectors.

OK Anomen is definitely saved for far future plans, my next target wll be Viccy!

I hope I will not need any real help, though if it is that hard, I may need soem assistance. Do romance guides contain lots of spoilers?

I don't think so. There are certain things that happen during Viccy's romance that you don't get if you aren't romancing her, iirc. I read them to find out what I said to mess up with Anomen - I insulted his precious Order once too often during my first run through.

Best advice: if you don't want to know what happens, don't read it. It'll be hard, but since you *love* Tactics and all, you won't mind! :)
