View Full Version : Why is it...
Truper Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 3:50am ... that reading about this game on these boards is nearly as much fun as playing it?
I've been spending a lot of time rumaging about in both the ToB and SoA forums, and its been really interesting.
Chas Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 5:20am I dunno. I aways like to particapate in the forums whenever I am playing a game. You get a sence of community I guess. Other people like the same things you do.
Harbourboy Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 5:21am I'm not sure of the answer to that. I would suggest that sometimes it is more fun than playing (because sometimes playing takes too long). Hence the popularity of Splunge's Game-Be-Gone mod.
Kulyok Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 7:53am It is the possibility to see the game with fresh eyes again.
And hey, you even discover something new for yourself ! I mean HB's tracking ability in Sendai's Enclave :D
Cúchulainn Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 10:06am It adds to the game as mentioned above. I learnt how great Assassins were (I would have never considered a thief as a main character) and they are now my favourit class, thanks to these boards. Its also fun to read other people's experiences.
Faraaz Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 12:24pm I learnt how to play Bards, and especially what a destructive force Blades can be.
I learnt the concept of soloing in the first place from this board. Before coming here, the very idea of going it solo was unthinkable.
Reading this board kept me in touch with BG2...which got me to play it, which got me to read the boards...55 solos on...the cycle continues!! :D
Harbourboy Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 8:27pm Or it could be that discussing computer games on the internet is right up there with the nerdiest, geekiest things you could possibly do.
And you're all proud (or not) of being mega-geeks! :p
Truper Wed, 2nd Mar '05, 10:54pm Damn! Busted! :D
Shrikant Thu, 3rd Mar '05, 3:11am  Sorcerer's is an addiction. Ask those of us who log in atleast twice a day to check out whats happening. And we did come here for the games.
Evertime I come here I want to re-install my games for another run. But it just takes too bloody long. :heh:
Harbourboy Thu, 3rd Mar '05, 4:21am Get Splunge's Game-Be-Gone Mod then. That helps to speed the game up a bit.
Rastor Fri, 4th Mar '05, 3:31am Get Splunge's Game-Be-Gone Mod then. That helps to speed the game up a bit.Are there two of them then? Game-Be-Gone is made by igi.
Harbourboy Fri, 4th Mar '05, 3:58am Who's igi? I'm sure Splunge's mod is more user-friendly. Especially when used in tandem with Sorvo's Computer-Be-Gone mod (which helps cut that annoying startup time).
Balle Fri, 4th Mar '05, 2:42pm the famous singer igi poop?
Caen Jade Fri, 4th Mar '05, 5:54pm @Harbourboy
Game-be-Gone was made by igi, Splunge just created a post entailing his run-through with igi's mod as a joke to all the "my first run-through" posts.
Here's the post

*edit*
Oh, and igi is the main man behind the IESDP on Gibberlings 3 which is a resource/database of coding stuff for the Infinity Engine. Someone like Camdawg or Andyr could go more in-depth on the subject.

Taluntain Sat, 5th Mar '05, 1:07am And unless I'm mistaken, Harbourboy was joking in this thread, and it was completely lost on all of you...
Nakia Sat, 5th Mar '05, 2:12am The mod I want is Sorvo's Computer-be-Gone. No, forget that. What I want is Microsoft-be-Gone. :heh:
And as to why I keep coming back to SP: Silliness like this. The fun of reading what others have done or are doing. On going advice. The sense of community and most of all the fact that I can read the posts (most of them) without getting eye strain and a headache.
fat mike Sat, 5th Mar '05, 11:48am Reading 'bout the game is fun, as long as the posters and players remain playful. Power-gaming or number-crunching makes me sick, such games are played for fun and not to have the most efficient party or character.
This may just be my opinion, though.
