I would like to announce the first release of the Forgotten Wars Banter Packs for Baldur's Gate 2.

It's no secret that one of the most popular, enduring elements of Baldur's Gate 2 is the inter-party dialogue, or "banter", that crops up from time to time, making the characters and gameworld seem more alive.

The Banter Packs add several new banters, representing hundreds of new lines of dialogue, to BG2. No special intervention is required on the part of the player... just go about your business and enjoy the new scenarios as they appear.

Release 1 of the Banter Packs introduces a dozen new dialogues, including two three-way dialogues and a new item invention from Jan Jansen. All but one of the NPCs (Cernd) are represented at least once in a new banter.

Download the Banter Packs from this site (http://www.forgottenwars.net/?page=mods/banter). We hope you enjoy.

Edit:

V2 now released.

Jan creates two more items (a new ammo type for his crossbow, plus the item he spoke to Valygar about in V1.) Over a dozen new dialogues in total, including a Lilarcor banter. Cernd is now represented (and quite a bit, as it turns out) for those who were worried about that.

It's about time!!!

Just kidding ... ;)

I realize all the hard work that goes into all those other modes put the Banter Pack on the shelf. But ya, I've been waiting ages for this and now I'm excited to check it out.

I've thanked jcompton in private, but now I'll do so publicly. Thanks a million for the Jaheira flirtpack! :D

Well, as these things often end up, for all the months of waiting I ended up doing most of the writing in a weekend. Ah well.

2 stupid questions:
- does it require ToB to be installed, or is just SoA OK? (I ask because this is in the ToB Forum.)
- will this affect games already in progress, or do you have to start a new game?

You do not need to start a new game, according to the readme.

I believe it also works for SoA only, but I can't rememeber exactly. (I read it last night at home, so I can't answer more definitely, sorry.)

SOA only is fine. There's no TOB-specific content this time around, there will be in the future, but it'll be a separate option so the mod can still be used for SOA players.

The only exception to the "start a new game" thing is that if you want to see a new talk between Imoen and Jaheira regarding Yoshimo, you must have had the mod installed at the time you see Yoshimo in Spellhold.

JC, you're the best! I take it that Cernd plus a few more banters will be added to the next release? :rolling:

Yeah. I like the idea of adding roughly a dozen new banters (or whatevers) with each release of the pack. It's a manageable number. I imagine Cernd will make rev 2.
