(I presume you meant Nalia, unless Natalia is your PC :) )

Could be that False Dawn caused enough dmg for her to retreat, if you were lucky, and there may have been a hit or so you missed when the animations didn't reflect it.

Yes, as above poster said. Usually, False Dawn dish out enourmous amounts of damage to Bodhi.

are you in chapter 3(4?) or 6?

Based on your description, you have not been to a place called spellhold yet. What you saw is exactly what is supposed to happen. It is still very early in the game. You will have your chance again with Bohdi. Sometime in the future ...
