I downloaded lots of shop mods from pocketplane site, and Olim's SP special shop from here. Now should I install ALL of these? Will it cause any bugs? I have 7-8 shops waiting to be installed, some are not weidu but files that are put into override folder directly. What do you reccomend? Please help me!

I'd skip the 'override' ones (unless there's ONE that you absolutely have to have), but the WeiDU ones ought to be okay.

So 'Override' ones will cause bugs right? Then I will skip them. Thanks.

BTW, just for trying, if I copy my override folder(which is bug-free) and save it, then install these, if some problem occurs, can I just swap my buggy override folder with the old, bug-free one? Will it work?

Yes, and no... You really want to do this:

Copy
Override Folder
Chitin.key
Dialog.tlk
BGmain.exe
(Weidu.log - If you want weidu to keep track of the mods you installed prior to doin' this, still after a restore)

when/if you need to restore toyur game, manually delete override folder and weidu.log and then copy all the above mentioned files from your backup folder into your main directory.

So 'Override' ones will cause bugs right? Then I will skip them. Thanks. What you want to avoid is mods that override your dialog.tlk (non-weidu mods). Also note that mods which adds to the same merchant may cause a few bugs depending on what exactly the mod does (if it simply add's items to, say, Ribald, then there should be no bugs what-so-ever).

Keep in mind that many shop mods adds very (ridiculously) powerful items to the game, which you may want to avoid as I know you like it more challenging ;)

Well thanks Olim, but I think this is more work than I could do, I would just avoid new shop mods, except SP's one ofcourse!

Really, some mods I have add some items to Ribald and other merchants, so these will not cause bugs right? They require being placed into override though.

I liked it hard last time, this time I will get druidic sorcerer kit (cool beyond words! New HLAs are godly) and a few new spiffy items will be welcome. I also have improved shadow thieves mod and I will ally with Bodhi for a cool thieves guild fight! Oh and I hope to finish Ascension battle on insane dif. now!
Only, I still do not have the courage to play Imp. Ilych on insane (I beat him on core but insane sounds...just too much), but who knows? I may be in a mood for a good beating!

'Tis not that difficult, I always have a backup of my important files despite how many and which mods I install.

None of the other mods should cause conflicts in your game.

OK I will install those who add new item selections to allready existing merchants, and avoid those who are non-weidu and create new merchants. Hope it will be bug-free. Thanks for your assistance!

So you tell me that even those that enhance already existing merchants can cause bugs, simply because they are placed into override? Who should I believe? Olim or Rastor?

Or should I learn via trying and error? :( Can somebody really clear this for me?

PS:I remember that Olim had said 'do not ever listen to me' in a way ooold topic. So I should trust Rastor and avoid Ribald enchantment mods too? (Sorry Olim, no offense intended :p really )

I do not know Olim very well, but Rastor is a fellow modder and knows what he's on about. I'd also not recommend installing anything that just tells you to dump it in Override.

There's are dozens of small things you can easily dump into the override without any fear, so I think a general "don't put anything into your override" scare is a bit too much. A bunch of smaller and older modifications are only available as override installs, and they'll work just fine. The only problem is compatibility with other mods, but it's not an issue unless they modify any of the same game resources. Or not at all, if you don't install any other mods along with them.

But if you want to remove them, you have to remember the filenames - and you'll run into problems if another mod has patched the files you dumped into Override (as you mentioned).

Plus some of the better override-dump tweaks (e.g. 'turn off Cloak of Mirroring') are now available in WeiDU format, anyway.

To anyone reading: My 'not recommend' is not meant as 'it will break your game if you do', just make sure you keep a note of what files you messed with and when you did it. :)

Being harder to remove is an issue, yea... but unless you're dropping a large amount of files into the override, not really more than an annoyance. In the worst case you can always redownload the mod and look up the filenames to delete in the original archive. But anything more recent is easy enough to weed out by the time stamp alone.
