View Full Version : How to make a God
February Thu, 1st Mar '07, 5:01pm I am curious if anyone could help me out on ideas on how to make a "God" class (A mage like Irenicus)
Using no cheats (mods yes), I wish to make a powerful class that is a combination of sorceror and something more
Here are some ideas for the new class:
Starts off with High magic resistances
Almost all spells have casting time of 1 or 2 (Very fast innate casting)
High level kill spells have no saving throws and bypass's enemy resistances
Also, when I use spells like Disintegrate, I want to shoot several green balls instead of just one to deal multi target kills.
How can I reduce the casting speed of all my spells without wearing special items or using improved alacrity? I want to make the class start off with innate improved alacrity that is constantly in-effect all the time.
And How can I make all my spells ignore saving throws while my enemies (who uses the same spell) has to check for saving throws?
Oh, and when you see Irenicus kill the shadow thievies in the cutscene after you get out of his dungeon, you see him do 1 target spells that instantly kills the enemy. I believe they are "power word, kill" How come they look so different from the actual power word, kill? Is there any way for me to access that spell as well? And how can I remove the cap on the number of times I use a spell in a certain spell level (I believe the cap is 6 times)
Can anyone help me with this?
Goli Ironhead Thu, 1st Mar '07, 5:25pm Well, Irenicus throwing wacky "Powerword: Kill"-variations is just because it looks cool, nothing more. The makers just gave him altered spells, to emphasise his great power and whatnot.
Faraaz Thu, 1st Mar '07, 5:36pm Look for Userunfriendly's Shadowkeeper Tips guide...dunno where the pages are online, I found them like years ago, but I do have them stored on my other PC somewhere...
The point is, he shows you what variables and effects you need to set to what values to get permanent Improved Alacrity, Immunity to Timestop etc...look through them and you are set.
Also, look at the Auramaster Druid Kit...it gives you innate -2 to casting speed...you can just see how they did it in there and then write your mod so that it has a reduced casting speed to suit your taste. While giving credits of course.
Edit: Forgot to add...for spells with no saving throws, look through Shadowkeeper's list of spells. There's variations that have no saving throw and do not check for magic resistance of normal spells like Finger of Death etc. Or was it the IEEE from TeamBG which let you check these out?? Whatever it is though, use these tools to get a feel for the spells you need, and then just reference them in your mod.
Marco Thu, 1st Mar '07, 5:45pm For that you need some moding skills and a moding program. (weidu)
Add custom spells without saving throws and add them area of efect.
Or maybe you can create some custom spells with SK. But duno about this.
Or, you can simply create a fighter/mage/thief, and when you get "use any item", you can have 100%+ MR with Holy Avenger + some other items.
And you can do stuff like THIS (http://www.sorcerers.net/Main/SotW/image.php?image=November05/JaheiraKill.jpg).

I havent been able to find this guide, however.
I looked at my Shadowkeeper folder and I tried to google it but no success =/
Trellheim Thu, 1st Mar '07, 6:03pm There's a nice overpowerfull Irenicus spell he uses in the scene where Imoen's soul is being 'powered' (I believe this happens right after you've set sail to Spellhold), called "Rapture Of The Father" (lvl.7), it's cast instantly and kills the poor victim without allowing a saving throw.
Silverstar Fri, 2nd Mar '07, 8:59am You can look at some custom,Irenicus spells via SK and give those to yourself as special abilities. Look at special ability descriptions, there are some special 'Irenicus Death' 'Flashy Death' and 'No saving throw' flags around. Oh, and try 'Rapture of the Father!' Feel the power! :mommy: :shake:
As for mods, Druidic Sorcerer kit is a very powerful class, but it has a few bugs. If you can get it work, it is immensely powerful, just check the read me and see the screen shots. It gains spells as a sorcerer, with some bonus druid spells and it has all new and cool beyond words HLAs, they are mighty destructive and fun to boot!
Derkoth the Disgruntled Fri, 2nd Mar '07, 2:15pm You could always try Zyraen's Reaver Kit...
Zyraen's Miscellany v2 (http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=158&Itemid=110)
It's pretty overpowered, and you wouldn't have to fiddle too much with creating your own custom kit. You could simply add whatever uber abilities you wanted to it after installation...
Just a thought.
Proteus_za Thu, 8th Mar '07, 5:17pm I made a kit, that together with its armor, was unstoppable. was a fighter kit, that I played in a fmt character.
had all the benefits of a wizard slayer, kensai and inquisitor with none of the drawbacks (ie could wear armor).
the armor was ac -2, granted immunity to timestop and backstab, permanent improved alacrity and casting time -5.
you could make all of those effects into spells. If you want, I can describe how to do it (will take me a while though). you need near infinity, and to be handy with a text editor (notepad will do).
have you made any kits before?
note that if you make a kit like this, and you install a weidu mod, weidu will remove lines from things like kitlist.2da, which you need for your kit.
edit: the only way to make your spells ignore enemy saving throws is to either change all of them (which means spells cast against you wont use saving throws either) or create all new ones, which isnt fun. It also means your character couldnt use regular scrolls. or you could, but everyone in your party would have to also. if you have a party.
but trust me, with improved alacrity and decreased casting speed, you wont need much else. timestop + backstab (or just regular attacks) = death.
backstab, cast invisibility (with casting time of 0) backstab again.
ion Tue, 13th Mar '07, 5:31am after all that work, how long is the character actually fun. i think I would enjoy wreaking havoc for about a half hour then grow bored.
The closest thing ive had to a god is a maxed out fighter mage thief in ToB, and even that got a little boring.
Derkoth the Disgruntled Tue, 13th Mar '07, 12:35pm I'd tend to agree with the above. I've played high-level FMT's before, and it takes all the strategy out of the game. It turns into pure hack'n'slash, and that's not fun for long.
Frankly, my most recent BGT run-through with Sword Coast Stratagems is turning into a fight for my (virtual) life... and it's way more fun than the usual breeze through BG1.

ion Wed, 14th Mar '07, 11:20am Sorry to change the subject, but what party are you using for stratagems
Proteus_za Thu, 15th Mar '07, 2:52pm I played solo until suldanessalar. was quite fun actually, mostly cos I felt like irenicus (you know the way he can insta cast deadly spells).
and if you need to use timestop, well someone is going to be feeling a lot of pain real soon.
