Ok you guys and ladies, you have got me confused. Now on some of the posts that I have been reading, you mention about characters, other than your main character, you have that are different than the NPC's that are offered. I am just wondering how you are doing it and if you are in single or multiplayer mode. I would like to create a group of self-made characters, kind of like Icewind Dale-ish.

I play a perfectly ballanced party at the moment - a gnomish illusionist-thief (main char), a dwarven fighter-cleric and a halfling archer and halfling cavaliers - all four are PCs of mine. I created my game in mplayer mode saved the game and copied it into my single player savegame folder ... ;)

Some people are cheating, summoning chars from the console or recruiting them iirc with the ctrl-Q key or so

That's the whole secret I think ;)

I'm the same as above. Currently playing a party of three characters which I created. Main, a Kensai/Thief, second, a Elven Ranger and Last, a Cleric of Talos.
Once again all copied into the single player folder, just makes life easier to load.

OK, so naturally my next question is.... How do you do that. I assume you start in multiplayer mode, but does the computer then try and log you on to the internet? Does the game ask if you want to create more than one character? Also were is the folders located at and also what are they named. I would like to give this a shot, but I don't want to screw up any saved games. Thanxs for your help everyone.

you choose the protocol and then simply start a new game (instead of joining a new one - therefore noone checks your connection to the internet) and create your chars ... the copy ... that's it :)

Ok in terms of creating more than one character and then using them in single player mode,
Start your multiplayer game choosing serial as the protocol.
Create all your characters.
Start the multi game, save it,then quit.
Now you want to open up you BG2 directory (the folder where BG2 is stored)
Once there you will see a folder for multi player game saves.
Open this folder and copy its contents.
Now find your single player game saves folder and paste your multi party save in there.
Start playing in single player mode now and enjoy.

Im playing a game with an Assassin as my main char and a Mage,(both self created) so far (only just out of the first dungeon) its been mostly easy, but THAC0 sucks for the both of them. So it makes for long fights, even against goblins. Playing with a self created party can be better than with one made of your main charater, and a few NPC's, or it is IMO, but im more used to playing solo. so it might not count for much.
