Yer gonna get in trouble for making 2 of the same posts. Your post does not contain a comprehensible question, please explain yourself.

Just tell us how much you know about what type of CD-deck you have, how well can you use a packing software (such as Winrar, Winzip, Winace, or DOS programs like Arj, Pkzip, etc), and do you have a network connection you could use to temporarily copy these files to a friend while you're formatting.
Also, make sure once you do format that you "part" the disk you have. Kinda running out of English terminology here, but it's the worst idea of the century to make your hard-disk 1-parted so you'll lose all of your computer's files and information when you format. Instead of just C:, I for example have C: + D: + E:. So when only windows is in C:, I never lose anything besides the registry information if I have to format or otherwise risk the system going down permamently.
As was said above, we need more information in order to give any good advice.

pjmac42, before you post again, you will go read the forum rules ( http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/rules.htm ) you agreed to follow upon registration. You managed to break about 5 or 6 of them in your first post. Break another one and you'll be looking for a new board to post on. We don't tolerate people who think they are above the rules here.
Also, this is a message board, not reply-by-mail service. You will come here and read the responses people give you.

I re-installed BGII a few weeks ago and you just burn the save game files onto a disk (I used a USB drive) do whatever you want to do to Windows, the game file etc. Then after you reinstall, go to the BGII folder - usually C:/Programme files/ Black Isle/ BGII - SoA and paste the Save Game folder you put onto a disk into it, then start up Baldurs Gate II and go to load game, It should all be there.
and make sure you read the forum rules, as Taluntain said, and dont break them again!

The save games will fit easily on a Floppy, this elleviates the need for any kind of burning software. It is then simply a case of copying the save files off the disk into the SaveGames folder in your Baldurs Gate 2 directory. Simple :)

I kept 13 save game files (9 were mine and 4 were my sisters)
