What type of fighting style do you use when you are roleplaying solo: 1 handed, 2 handed, ranged, or 2 weapons style?
Im thinking about a multi-fighter/thief with single weapon, but i dont know if ill be stepped on later in the game......i had troubles with that final boss (dont remember her name) when i had a 6-man team......i was a cavalier at the time.......

It all depends on the situation. The last solo character I played with was a Fighter/Mage and for most of the game I played weilding two swords, but I always keep a ranged weapon in my invantory for when and if it is needed.

My favorite combo of swords in SoA are Celestial Fury and the Daystar; but in ToB I switch them to the Spectral Brand +5 and Hindo's Doom +4. Hope that helps. :rolling:

Entirely depends on your style. If you use the F/M/T (or the F/T that you mentioned) you will get Use Any Item as your first HLA (almost certainly). At that point, your character can use Carsomyr for 50% MR. Add various trinkets and you can be almost impervious to magic.

That means that, if you opt to go that route, you'll want Two Handed Sword proficiency and, possibly, Two Handed Weapon Proficiency. If so, you might also like Halberds for the Ravager. If you use greater whirlwind, you're probably better off with a Two Handed Weapon of some sort. You can also opt for Quarterstaffs and use Staff of the Ram to backstab or staff of the Magi for its obvious benefits.

Alternatively, you can play a dual wielder, saving the shield for special occasions (again with greater whirlwind). I then would suggest the obvious combos of Crom/Flail of Ages/Celestial Fury (depending on what you like).

There are so many ways to go that it entirely depends on how you play. For example, I could never bother with ranged weapons. I just found that they were boring. I'd rather backstab with stone skin and the robe of vecna/amulet of power combo, so that I could get off as many spells in the middle of a crowd of enemies as I felt like. If you are just using the F/T, though, you may have some problems after backstabbing if there are multiple enemy spell casters. Otherwise, you can just kill the wizard and run away from the fodder, killing them a few at a time as they approach you.

I'm doing single-weapon style with my solo ranger. I also have a bow and a stff equipped at all times.

Since my characters seem to run the gamut, it's tough for me to say what fighting style I use the most.

My fighters tend use 2-weapons, except for my paladins who get 2-handed; my clerics always get 2-weapon; my thieves get 2-weapon; my mages get 2-handed.

Multi- and dual- classed characters depend on the combination.

I prefer single weapon style to dual wielding in terms of raw power: dual-wielding gives one additional attack and single-weapon makes you hit critically twice as often plus it gives you -2 AC. Dual-wielding though makes you able to employ two harmful effects on the enemy in one round or to enjoy the benefits from two weapons' enchantments (like strength increase and draining immunity for Crom Faeyr and Runehammer dual-wielded).

Two-handed is priceless if you have a favourite two-handed weapon. Also criticals twice as often and speed factor decrease by 4. My cavalier wielded Carsomyr that way and swang at speed factor 1, which is *before* any spell can be cast and *before* most weapons can strike (longswords +5 have speed factor 0 though). Note that you can't decrease speed factor to a negative number and that pure fighters (should you ever run one) get speed bonuses for higher ranks in weapon specialisation and Kensais get even more of them.

In regards to roleplaying, i dont think many people run around with two swords in their hands, unless they were insanely skilled, or the situation warranted it. In my other games, i was dual-wielding for more hits......but now, im going more for look. Ahh well, maybe ill try out single weapons.......but how do you kill that final boss? She was stupid hard last time.....any help? (while soloing of course)

for sologame i strongly recommend to use shields often. there are many useful shields such as shield of reflection or shield of defensive harmony. you have to know that charm spells "kill" you because the game considers no control for you = monsters do coup de grace.
oh yes that sucks. this way i see no use for dakkons zerthblade for example (sadly). still two weapon style is the best choice overall, especially for F/M/T.

nonsense. If you are solo, take an f/m/t or an f/m and use the staff of magi. Call it cheap if you like. Or have some great fun and do this: Take an F/M/T and start with the staff of magi and then cast a mislead. The mislead is invisible, therefore untargetable to almost all monsters. Now you have permenant invisibility for the duration of the spell. Now switch to two weapons of your choice (oh, just be a whore and use Crom Faeyr and Flail of ages...nobody will mind) and backstab all the monsters with reckless abandon. Cheers

Umm assassin, two-weapon fighting styles are very common in calimshan, mainly for the different guilds, that make up most of calimshan but its still common.

when i play a fighter/mage/thief and solo i don't want to cheese all the time, so i USE weapons a thief can backstab with and not some overpowered unstilish staff of the magi

My approach was extremely stylish. And before ToB was released, you could even backstab with Staff of Magi. If you are playing with ToB installed, then go with Answerer and Blackrazor.
