I Would put the dirk/dagger in the off hand as that seems correct as it is the lighter weapon. That is if you want to be Dual-wielding.. otherwise it belongs in your quick slot.... It sounded to me like you wanted to dual-wield.

Weight/size requirements do not matter with dual-wielding. Any melee weapon that can be use with a shield can be put in the off hand as well.
