View Full Version : I can't seem to get Lighthouse or Archelogical up on my area travel map>
kin hell Mon, 26th Mar '07, 10:02am G'day
My first ever trip through BG, I'm loving it, using easy TuTu over full/full install with no other mods, things are going well except for the occasional scary and painful moments.
My Good party wants to rescue poor Captain Brage, and I cannot get near him. No relevant map area's show up (I know where they are supposed to be but nada zip zilch. I'm reading that I'm wandering around in chapter 3. Durlag's Tower is the only unexplored accessible area on my map, and I'm too scared to go back there as I roamed in quite some time ago, grossly underpowered low- level and got whomped time after time by the battlement guards before I finally ran away in despair. Bandit county is visible on the map, but I seem unable to click on them, ...later perhaps? Meanwhile, I thought I might see some more of the coast, (I did travel the shipwreck coast awhile ago, but never got to see the famous Lighthouse or explore the digs).
So re: Lighthouse and Archeological Maps ...any ideas why I can't see them folks? thanks
Felinoid Mon, 26th Mar '07, 11:05am The map areas are basically set up in a 5 by 11 grid (though the markers aren't placed like it, you can generally see where maps fit in the grid), with access to the areas gotten when you travel in their direction from an adjacent area. Apart from one spot on the coast where you can't go north-south between areas it's fairly simple, and even there you can just go around.
Assuming you know this already, the first thing I'd try is coming at it from all four cardinal directions. Exit the map to the south of the desired one on the north edge, the map to the east of the desired one on the west edge, etc.
The next thing I'd suggest is contacting Macready if any of the area transitions don't bring up the map markers; he's the one who designed EasyTutu and would be able to disect his code to see what the problem was and fix it. You can either PM him or change the topic title to something with "EasyTutu" in it. That usually gets his attention. ;)
Speaking of which...you should know that all Tutu questions belong in the ToB forum (odd rule having to do with the inclusion of the mechanics of the BG2 engine), so don't be surprised when a mod moves it. And on a final note, welcome to the Boards and I hope we can be of help. :)
kin hell Mon, 26th Mar '07, 11:41am Thanks O feline one, I will attempt the suggested and my apologies to all for the mispost.
EDIT Thanks,O purrrfect master, the 5x11 grid idea was accurate help . I'd been flitting from area to area (Crossmap random) with blithe disregard re: where I was exiting to where I was trying to enter, and on the whole I was allowed this non-strict -roleplay travel. Said behaviour, I excused by not wanting to re-traverse well known areas yet again. It seems as though the engine allows such travel over known routes, but requires total accuracy going into the Great Unknown.

Nakia Mon, 26th Mar '07, 5:09pm Just a travel note. You may one who refuses to cheat at all but I find the following cheat very handy in those areas already explored. Ctrl + j
I get bored going over the same territory time after after time.
This will jump you to the place where you have the pointer. Only usuable in explored areas and of course cheats needs to be turned on.
kin hell Tue, 27th Mar '07, 3:50pm Thanks Nakia I used Ctrl +J in IWD and IWD2, and would love to use it here, but I seemed to have failed to set my easy TuTu up correctly, as I cannot get the CLUAconsole at all, and therefore can't get the big teleport "J"ump. The other thing I really miss, and I'm not sure if it is a console cheat, but keying the letter "L" doesn't do it for me either, so instead I wander around lost, scared and mouthbreathing. happy trails.
OTG Tue, 27th Mar '07, 7:35pm Use of CTRL-J to jump within areas can mean characters don't walk over trigger points and therefore certain things that should happen don't... you've been warned!
Nakia Tue, 27th Mar '07, 7:59pm It is only used in explored areas. Throughly explored areas. Believe me all triggers have been trigger. It is very boring to have to traverse an area that has already been gone over probably several times.
