View Full Version : Am I too low on Cleric power?
Klorox Mon, 16th Oct '06, 6:14am Personally, I don't think so. I think I have a pretty balanced party going here:
Gnick O'Thyme Gnome Cleric/Illusionist
Jaheira
Keldorn
Korgan
Imoen
Valygar
Any advice on how to improve this party is welcome.
TIA
EDIT: This is a "no reloads" game, and I currently have Jan instead of Imoen (I'm still in Chapter 2). I plan on having Gnick use the Defender of Easthaven and stay far away from any combat. He's got phenomenal stats, having gone through BG1, and with a 19 STR I'll be using the Sling of Seeking with him (that should be a good combo when I'm not casting a spell!) He's also got 20's in INT and WIS, so my bonus Cleric spells are pretty neat.

Brallrock Mon, 16th Oct '06, 7:35am I have never been a huge cleric user, but it looks allright to me. Are you using Keldorn and Korgan as tanks?
Felinoid Mon, 16th Oct '06, 7:45am Looks good to me. The two MCs will be about as good as a single-classed (or dual) divine, with some small bonuses from having two people, like getting both spheres of influence, or tandem heal. It's not as much as I would typically like (I prefer a full and an MC), but it's certainly doable. And Keldorn and Valygar can kick in some spells too if you need.
Gastong Mon, 16th Oct '06, 7:55am Keldorn can not. Wow i just corrected fellinoid
Harbourboy Mon, 16th Oct '06, 8:10am Keldorn can cast Dispel Magic. Is that a spell?
Gastong Mon, 16th Oct '06, 8:11am Crap
Blog Mon, 16th Oct '06, 9:33am That looks fine. A cleric, paladin and druid to heal and buff if necessary. A cleric to turn undead. What else do you plan to use your cleric for? :p
Silverstar Mon, 16th Oct '06, 9:48am Yes I too think it is decent enough. If Gnick will prefer to stay away from combat anyway, he could cast all buffs/protection spells/healing and curatives without trouble. You do not need any more clerics. What I think is, you need more mages, but that's just me! :p
Have fun! And keep us updated on your progress! I wonder if you can really make it without reloads.
DarkStrider Mon, 16th Oct '06, 9:53am It looks good, but, if it was me I would replace Valygar by either Nalia or Edwin. With th game being so rich in spell scrolls I nearly always have 3 Arcane spellcasters, but that's me. Good luck.
Decados Mon, 16th Oct '06, 6:24pm Perfectly do-able. I prefer a tad more clerical power, but two M/C characters should see you through.
Faraaz Tue, 17th Oct '06, 5:18pm You'll be fine.
IMO, in BG2, prevention is way better than cure. Especially if you are playing a no reloads game. If you are going to be worried about having enough healing...you are going about it the wrong way.
For instance, I would be playing a Fighter/Mage buffed to the gills with Protection from Magic Weapons, or my tanks casting Mirror Image (courtesy of Ilbratha +1) etc etc...
Make sure your guys dont get hit at all by planning for the situation in advance.
Having said that, I feel that you have MORE than enough healing power. Just fill up on lvl 6 slots with Heal and you should be good to go.
Silverstar Tue, 17th Oct '06, 6:00pm Personally I do not use clerics for healing purposes. Who needs healing spells when you have more than one hundred extra/super healing potions stored away in bottomles potion bags? Or twenty scrolls of restoration is more than enough to last a whole game.
They have other uses though, like 'Harm'ing enemies, buffing people and themselves up to max, summoning, and turning undead etc.
