View Full Version : Any suggestions on the final place?
piratebbbb Fri, 4th Jul '03, 6:11pm I'm trying to fight Melissan, but she kicks my face in. I have a level 40 monk and I'm pretty sure I have no chance against her. I beat her when I got to the Throne, but then the second time I fight her, she kicks my head off. Any suggestions on how to fight her?
diebysteel Fri, 4th Jul '03, 6:18pm I suggest you used all your spells, abilities etc. at her in the first fight. If one of your mages know the wish spell try to get the option to rest. If not go back to final save, and try to use no or at least not much spells. -SPOILER-You'll have to fight her 4 times, and 3 groups of monsters between the incarnations. As you can't rest you need to come along with the spells and abilities you got.
piratebbbb Fri, 4th Jul '03, 7:51pm Only one problem... My monk is trying to solo the game and has no mage abilities... I tried setting the difficulty lower but there was no effect.
8people Sat, 5th Jul '03, 10:45am Why don't you use the spirit to get people? The n I suppose you could level them with the console or something.
Amy does get tougher each time you fight her as she absorbs more essence. Perhaps don't use abilities on her only on the summons so you can kill them quicker?
Rotku Sat, 5th Jul '03, 11:18am Reload outside the throne room to get all your abilities back. Then when you attack her consentrate all your energy on her. Don't worry about the other creatures because they go when she does.
Arutha Sat, 5th Jul '03, 7:54pm I'm afraid it is the one place where I resorted to cheating with my solo monks.
I exploited the "everyone can cast a spelll from a scroll" bug to cast time stop and then greater whirlwind at her.
Of course, she's immune to time stop.
But it prevented her from using that timestop + whirlwind trick on me.
There was just nothing I could do against that combo (it got me killed every time).
If you don't want to use that, then be ready for a lot of reloads...
Something that can help: boots of the gargoyle. They'll only stop two attacks, but those two hits may be the difference between life and death.
Robert Sun, 6th Jul '03, 12:21am I know this doesn't apply to you piratelobb, but maybe to others: The tactic diebysteel had can be used even better using a simuliracum with a potion of mind focusing and a wish scroll, because the simularacum can also be used in combat. And you probably need all of your lvl 9/10 spells in battle.
Gholam Sun, 6th Jul '03, 3:17am Well, my... if you have made the rest of the game with your Monk you should actually be able to fight Melissan 2. Just make some tactics.
1. See 2 that you r immune 2 fear.
2. As u should have 'bout 97% magic resistance, the spells shouldänt be of any use for ya opponents.
3. Why could you just not use healing potions away from battle (a bit then), like chicken-style, and woop her ass. I had no trouble with my f/m.
4. See to that you use your abilities as greater whirlwind is kickass-good for example.
dunno if this have been of any help as Iam drunk when I write this. But I sure do hope so.
BTW I am from Sweden!!!

Arutha Sun, 6th Jul '03, 5:59am Well, Gholam, I hope your hangover won't be too bad. ;)
Problem with Melissan is that even with all kinds of buffs from items and HLA on before starting the fight (including for instance stoneskin from the boots of the gargoyle and damage resistance), it usually went like this:
Monk: Greater WW on, moves towards Melissan.
Melissan: Time Stop, Greater WW at Monk.
Dead Monk.
Reload.
Cleanse, Rinse, Repeat.
After a while, I got tired of that.
piratebbbb Mon, 7th Jul '03, 6:40pm Hmmm, thanks all, but I'm going to try making a party this time with my monks... I don't feel like reloading over and over again.
