Recently loaded ToB (and the patch). After beating Irenicus at the end of SoA I started ToB and noticed the following problem.
At the start of ToB I checked my party's inventory. When I right click on several of my weapons for the description it is either completely blank or has various dialogues about Watchers Keep and other things - no name of weapon or description. Seems that this only happened with some of Jaheira's stuff and stuff my protagonist had in the bag of holding. Don't know if the weapons still have their original properties or not because I can't remember what some of them were.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Wow, this is a new one. Did you install any third party mods? Did you edit the game files? Those are the two possibilities that come to mind right now.

Item descriptions get erased when for example when mods aren't installed in the correct order or if you have mods that do not fit together installed. I don't think that original game items' descriptions can get lost though, your custom or items from other mods can. I'm not sure about this so someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's got something to do with overwriting the dialog.tlk file.

You DID make a coppy of your dialog.tlk didn't you? Uninstall any 3rd party mods and replace the current dialog.tlk with the origanal "clean" one. Then install any mods you want in the right order. :rolling:

No I haven't installed any mods at all... only add-ins I have are the two additional merchants from SoA... now that you mention it, I "think" that the weapons whose descriptions are gone are ones that I really haven't seen listed in any of the walkthroughs, etc. Were these added in with the merchants perhaps? Though I'll have to check on it...
Never knew about the Dialog file so I never backed it up...

If *everything* is gone in dialogs and weapons etc. but they were there in SoA check SoA again and make sure it. If it is just ToB and you installed it after the merchants then do the patch - if you have the patch then the problem occured when you installed ToB, if you had an error message post it here. If you didn't then your CD-rom drive may be too fast/slow and 'skipped' a part of the disk during installation, try reinstalling ToB and the patch, also actually check dialog.tlk if it has numbers then blanks then the CD is the culprit having the wrong information, or lack of it. If it has only SoA (you'll recognise it if you've played the game ;) ) then it probably has skipped, if it has ToB material then you need to reinstall as the game isn't reading it. if there is still a problem then get another CD.
