View Full Version : Need help choosing my band of bad boy adventurers!
Gurner Mon, 26th Jul '04, 3:30pm Help, I can't decide who to throw out of my group. So far my team is as below
1)Kraklok (PC - Figheter / Cleric)
2)Minsc
3)Anomen
4)Jaheira
5)Aerie
6)Yoshimo
Now here's the problem, I want to put Valygar in my team so I can get to the planar sphere, in addition I haven't picked up the paladin from the sewers yet (can't remeber his name). It's the first time I've played the game so I don't really know who to get rid of or even if it's worth putting the other two in. Only restrictions I've got is that Aerie has to stay, she's my only mage and as it was my first game I made her memorise all my scrolls, hence she's got a wicked spellbook and it would cost me a fortune to replace it. Apart from that I'm not too fussed, feel free to wipe out a cleric because my PC is a fighter cleric as well. Finally Yoshimo's not really doing much but I'm a bit apprehensive about getting rid of my only thief. There you go people, thats about it. Any suggestions?

Bahir the Red Mon, 26th Jul '04, 3:57pm Who the hell is Aragorn? You mean Keldorn? Or are you MPing?
Gurner Mon, 26th Jul '04, 4:04pm Sorry my fault, I meant Anomen
Wordplay Mon, 26th Jul '04, 4:45pm Easy, give Anomen and Minsc boot. Valygar will replace Minsc in almost every respect, and you have already enough clerics to do Anomen's job (who is annoying too ;) ). Thus, you should end up with:
1) Fighter/Cleric
2) Ranger
3) Paladin
4) Fighter/Druid
5) Mage/Cleric
6) Bountry Hunter
Also remember that later a dual classed Thief/Mage will replace the Bountry Hunter, and that you can -if you prefer more fighting power-, replace Jaheira instead of Minsc.
Thunder Mon, 26th Jul '04, 5:16pm If you are romancing Jaheira you could wait for her to leave your party for a while and pick him up. If you don't intend to keep using him then you could dump Minsc, anomen or Yoshimo, open the sphere and dump him again and take the fomrerly dumped person back.
If you plan to take the paladin (keldorn) I would take him instead of Anomen, since your a cleric yourself. But you could also dump someone else so you have them both in the party which gives you some more innerparty conversations.
Minsc and Val are capable of replacing oneanother but Val needs some kind of strength enhancing item to keep up with Minsc's damage capacity.
You could dump Jaheira, but you'll miss out on a extensive NPC related quest of her (the best IMHO). In my party she usually serves as backup fighter, and I use her for healing and elemental summoning otherwise.
Rastor Tue, 27th Jul '04, 1:40am Why not dump Yoshimo and pick up Nalia to be replaced with Imoen whenever you get her back? All things considered, you don't even need a thief if you don't want one.
Out of the rest... it's a tough call. Minsc or Jaheira would be my first choice, but to be honest they are both better party members than Valygar.
How about dropping Minsc to get Valygar, then telling him to go to the Copper Coronet. As soon as Valygar opens the door to the Planar Sphere, drop Valygar and pick up Minsc and head on in.
Sweaty Used Armor Plus 100 Tue, 27th Jul '04, 3:08am If u want, you could just kill Valgy and take his body to teh sphere....
Evil Dad Tue, 27th Jul '04, 3:34am After playing this and BG1 so many times, I am sick of Minsc and would nearly always pick Valygar instead. His stealth and backstab are just awesome. He will be able to take out mages very easily for you making your life much easier. There is nothing that makes Minsc that much better, after all, there are so many items that can improve stats that Minsc's higher strength doesn't really come into it, plus Valygar has some neat spells.
Keldorn is good and I would boot out Anomen (beside you are a F/C anyway - so anomen isn't so essential). Keep Jaheira, she can tank with the best of them and has the best anti-mage spells in the game. She will save your butt so many times you wont believe it.
