(1) I suspect that multi-classes may sometimes be more capable than dual or single classes in TOB (but not SOA) because of the XP allowed and high level abilities. Opinions?

(2) To do the math, I need to know when the bonuses stop for each class. For instance, at what level is THACO the lowest it will go and does it differ by class? Furthermore, do the special bonuses/benefits of kits stop accumulating at a specific class level and what level is that?

(1) agreed, in ToB MC beats out DC by far, not only because of the high level abilities. I got the nightmare of my gaming career when I took the most formidable dc lvl-6 fighter/ lvl-x thief I created in BG-1 to ToB. Blinded by grandmastery and beeing used to play him fighterlike I got whooped badly. I had to accept he was, though much more powerful than a thief, clearly inferior to about every fighter opponent in ToB. The ToB high level abilities are pretty powerful, so I can only recommend to go for multiclassing in ToB. The mages high-level abilty bonus spells for example can partly compensate for the lower mage levels of a multiclassed mage ...

(2) This is a little tricky and requires more depth than I have time to provide at the moment :( However, you'll find a THACO table, listing the classes base THACOs with level under that link, plus some more info about combat and THACO in general. Lacking time or beeing lazy I unfortunately haven't yet converted these tables into proper html-format, so they are on SP for download only (second last entry on the page) ... http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index.htm
