View Full Version : Need some party help
TOutcast Sun, 24th Jun '01, 10:23pm Ok, right now I have these people in my party:
Main Character Conjuror
Minsc Wielding C. Fury and +2 Katana
Amnoen Wielding Mace +2
Yoshimo with his Katana/bow off the Beastmaster
Keldorn with Holy Avenger
I need a person for 6th spot. I was thinking about Valagar, but Minsc is using Katanas. Of course I could give him the Impaler. Besides, I heard somewhere that his Katana doesn't backstab or something. I was also thinking about Edwin, but he's evil and I need another frontline fighter. Korgan is another thought, but he is very evil, and not very many good axes in the game, and Croym Faeyr (spelling?) is going to Amnoen. Any thoughts?
(note: this character is going to be dropped for Saervok in Throne of Bhaal)
zero Sun, 24th Jun '01, 10:43pm Take Mazzy as a backup fighter or archer
Ragusa Sun, 24th Jun '01, 10:48pm Yes, Mazzy is a force, the best archer in he game. Aerie could supply a very valuable splellcasting, just like Viconia (plus other valuable special abilities). Jaheira has some great spells and she is a good fighter too. Your party needs a girl ;)
Serora Mon, 25th Jun '01, 3:59am Jaheira is good to have around for healing and fighting. Although she does get kind of annoying sometimes.
TOutcast Mon, 25th Jun '01, 6:29am Ok, thanks for help, I've decided to go with Jaheria, cuz I'm in romance with her right now. Next questions:
1. What weapon/weapons should she be using? I was thinking either the Impaler (spear +3 w/ +10 piercing damage) or dual wielding clubs, which should I choose?
2. Also, since I haven't much time to do the romance, what is the CLUAConsole cheat that sets the romance countdown timer to 1? I can't remember it, I saw it on a board once, does anyone here know how to do it?
Once again, thanks for help. :)
Ragusa Mon, 25th Jun '01, 7:07am Jaheira dualwielding clubs ... <shudder> oh well  I usually give her:
-sling of everard/ sling or arvoreen
-blood club +3 from trademeet
-scimitars, especially Belm +2 (1 extra attack)
-Usually I give her a shield (fortress shield +3 @ Ribald) too for I like her and I consider it a really good protection. I like her having a good AC.
TIN_MAN Mon, 25th Jun '01, 1:12pm Mazzy is the best choice!
With the Tansheron's short bow +3 and the Kundane +2 0 speed factor short sword she is Arvoreen's unstoppable war-machine. :D
Besides she has some very useful abilities.
Big B Mon, 25th Jun '01, 2:39pm Note on weapons for Jaheira. If you want her to have a spear, Impaler is good yes, also the Spear of Withering in the Drow City is another great spear, don't forget about it. It's about preference when choosing weapons for characters, don't think you have to jump on the "good weapon" bandwagon. Use what you are most comfortable with.
cathon Tue, 26th Jun '01, 10:02pm It's just inefficient to have Jaheira dual wield, since she already has points (or a point) in sword and shield, there are good shields for her to use, and she can get such a great AC. Umm, but if you want to dual-wield, consider having a club in the primary hand, and belm's (scimitar) in the off hand for that extra attack. (Which I've seen here means your primary will get an extra attack)
zero Tue, 26th Jun '01, 10:20pm Or you can get proficient in quarterstaff for best staff in the geme which only druid can wear. But for now is red club from trademeet just fine
ayecapitan Tue, 26th Jun '01, 11:02pm The party seems complete enough. Why not just leave it 5, and get more exp per person?
Well, of course, Mazzy is the best, methinks she is the best female char in this game overally, for she has not the negative parts of others (awful romance plots for Jaheira&Aerie, Viconia's alignment and rep spoiler etc.) and can use some unique abilities and can wield a shortbow @GM.

TOutcast Thu, 28th Jun '01, 7:47am On Mazzy, should I have her just wielding 1 short sword and a bow, or go with something different?
Ragusa Thu, 28th Jun '01, 10:35am Since Mazzy´s own shortsword is quite nice already and since there are some nice other ones aoround I don´t think so. IIRC she has ***** with the shortbow and *** wwith shortswords when you pick her up, so I´d rather suggest to put the rest of the prof slots in single weapon style rather than starting to specialise in another weapon. And considering the low damage of a shortsword - it´s not worse than a flail, a club, a staff or a mace ...
Shadow Assassin Thu, 28th Jun '01, 4:11pm why not just walk around with each so you can do their quests remember you can always go back and get them later, I say pick up every npc in the game at some point and do their quests granted this takes time, but you get xp and you learn a little more about your characters and can decide who you're most comfortable with . another thing to do if you are playing it in multiplayer as you should is to create a bunch of different class chars you can import into your protaganist spot to get all the stronghold quests.
to clarify I mean the quests you get once you have control of the stronghold, not the initial quests themselves

Earl Grey Thu, 28th Jun '01, 9:07pm I agree with ayecapitan that you don't need anymore members. Of course you want to have a romance going so taking Jaheira is a good decision. I think you should give one of your tanks the boot.
Mistyca Fri, 29th Jun '01, 9:42am IMO you already have a powerful party. Why don't you try Cernd??? You'll add some nice druid spells.....IMO Cernd would be perfect in your party.
