Suppose I am:
-A Cleric/Ranger
-Cleric/Mage
-Mage/Thief
Will I have access to the two commensurate strongholds, or if just one, which one? For the record, I have ToB installed, if that matters at all.

Without any mods, you will get one, but you will get the first one you accept. So if you are a Cleric/Ranger for example, you get the cleric stronghold offered when you complete the quests needed for it, and same with ranger one. If you accept either one, then you won't get offered the other stronghold anymore.

If I am correct the only way to get two strongholds is by having a multiclass with a fighter in it. And then taking the fighter stronghold last.

Two bugs of note here: getting the fighter stronghold in addition to an existing stronghold is a bug. IIRC, the original game also has a bug in that cleric-rangers are not offered the cleric stronghold.
(Both of these are fixed in the upcoming Fixpack.)

hmm so its that a glitch then. that definitely explains why it happened

you could just install the multiple strongholds component of EOU and only take the strongholds of the two classes your using
without mods, the other posters are right
