i was wonderin if it's possible to make a vampire kit or class? or maybe race? and if anyone HAS made one for that matter..

anyway what do you think?
Pros and Cons.

i don't like valen that much, but i think a bit more fighter oriented vampire would suit the pc. it Maybe could be like the Werewolfs, where you can polymorph yorself into vampire, becoming at will, or when you taste/smell blood you become vampire automaticly.

ps. i have absolutely NO modding skills what so ever, so i CAN NOT make this.

Cheers, Balle

I thought Valen would be cool if she looked like one of 'Bodhi's Bellydancing Vampires' insdead of the thief avatar, and Valen is also too overpowered.

Well at the least the Valen mod shows that you can't *really* make someone a vampire and keep them within the game's limits of power. Any nerfing of vampire powers would make you...not a vampire. Not a D&D vampire, anyway.

You could make a half-vampire kit or NPC, but even that would grow far beyond the power limits of the game. A vampiric child of Bhaal? Why not just make yourself Bodhi? Any of these standard vampire powers would be too much for a character: immunity to charm and hold, permanent level drain abilities, assume mist form, dominate at will. The game already gives you a lesser form of their immunity to magic weapons, but it waits until the very end of SoA to do so--can you imagine playing the game from the beginning and being immune to +1 weapons or less?

Now don't get me wrong--I think it would be fun to play with once or twice. But let's quickly forget this idea of keeping such a character "balanced."

Such an idea has come up before - I belive Mortis' mod Forgotten Children allowed the PC to become an undead creature, although I'm not sure if it's still up for download anywhere. :)

The main concerns people tend to have with this sort of idea are the potential for overpoweredness; and the fact that to become undead you really need to die first (which would cause a Bhaalspawn PC to turn to dust).

There's a vampire "template" on SP at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors2.php , but your romances won't work with it installed. I don't know if it works with ToB either.

I recall playing ToB with those templates, so they should work.

On the balance issue, take a hint from 3E rules and somehow make an eventual Vampire char +8 ECL, or 2E equivalent or something. Starting 'Chateau Irenicus' at level 1, even with an overpowered race/class/template doesn't seem too pleasant.
