I was using Shadowkeeper to look over some of the *.cre files, wondering which one I should extract and try to do something with it when I saw the name Kivan.
Curious, I loaded up a game and summoned him. Lo and behold it was him. Bow & arrow, leather armor and a spear. When I spoke to him, his dialogue was quite unusual. Hard to describe but along the lines that it belonged in another conversation.
Does anyone else know about this? If so, does this mean he is an NPC?

Really?
Can you get him to join?
I bet he would like a chat with Tazok in the Windspear Hills.

Gabriel be careful! Do this at your own risk. Unless this is from a mod such as TDD which actually has Kivan in it, you risk game crashes. There are stacks of things in the files that are "broken", that is they have no dialog links that actually work. Kivan is not meant to join you and so doing this outside a mod could be nasty.
You can actually do this with a whole swathe of NPCs such as Jon, Bodhi, Drizzt and others, but it is sort of dumb.

Just kept from BG1 like many stuff. There are mods that include Kivan as a joinable NPC made by various people.

I dont get it....
I have TDD 1.03 (less bugs) and i'mm supposed to meet Kivan in Umar Hills where he should tell me about a quest somewhere.
But the point is THERE'S NO KIVAN
And i loved this guy back in BG1 and i would need an archer right now.-They are cool.
I downloaded a patch from SP to summon BG1 characters and i summoned Kivan. Bad thing is he was level 2 and a normal ranger
And now i had to create a mute dumb archer :(

Actually, I've done this without using any mods or downloads, and it's quite safe.
Kivan starts by saying "Colors!" and then has this really strange string of conversation that is actually a mix of interactions with various NPCs throughout the game.
Here is some info you might want to know that I have quoted from the Dan Simpson strategy guide:
" Voreth has some "Strange Things":
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Boo") creates Boo (and we all know who Boo is).
CTRL+Q him to add him to your party. He's very powerful, and even has his
own paper doll. To keep him effective, don't equip any weapons in any
slots, and DO NOT LEVEL HIM UP! (requires the EnableCheatKeys() cheat to
be active)
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Gorion") is fun, though it does require you to
exit your game once it works. If you create Gorion, talk to him and choose
a few of the dialogue choices (it's keyed to a different dialogue, so
you'll see some pretty weird, including NPC, dialogues). He'll bring you
through the BG sequence with him (bringing you over, casting Cure Light
Wounds, etc.) and bring you to a forest (area number is the same as circle
of stones in BG). There, you get stuck on a tree. Too bad. I wonder if
Sarevok would have appeared and all. Oh, and the BG loading screen appears
in front of the BG2 one, though off center and much smaller.
(Note: I've only tried this in the Docks, so if you try it somewhere else
and get different results, don't be alarmed...)
You can also Create Kivan, from what I've seen, though he doesn't say
anything, his dialogues are bad, and he says what he should say on the
bottom of the screen. Still, it's pretty fun. You can do this with Drizzt
too, and get him to say some of Korgan's (voice acted) lines. So you have a
Drizzt with a Scottish accent who says "Cure Disease" at the end of his
dialogue. Answer his first question with the description of Summon Monster
I for the rest of Korgan's dialogue."

BG2 was made over BG1
The reason the dialogues are mucked up is because they are using references which have been overridden and no longer exist.

Dang, so the Kivan in the game is just..just something not meant to be then. Too bad, I thought he was cool. Kinda reminded me of Dirty Harry. I might as well make a character using the Kivan soundset then.
