View Full Version : (yet another) party problem
Tony Tulipstomp Sun, 4th Jun '06, 11:41pm I'm hoping someone can give a list of who and when they pick up for the party. My problem is I pick up the druid/fighter and minsc from the dungeon, then the thief guy. So I have 2 slots left. I can't ever figure out who the game's better with. I figured I'd just ask you all who you pick up and when you keep them for 'good' I'm not all that fond of banter after I've seen it the first time, and I hate how keldorn always kills or fights with the drow chick. Anyway, who do you pick?
Another problem is I don't know if the ending of the game is based on your alignment, your reputation, or anything in between. It is annoying to get some ..that dwarf evil guy from CC and then lose him cuz you get 18+ reputation. I just want everybody to be happy w/o modding stuff
kmonster Mon, 5th Jun '06, 12:25am The best solution in your case is to create a 4-5 person party yourself and add the pregenerated NPCs only temporary for their quests.
kuemper Mon, 5th Jun '06, 4:03am The party I went through many games with was:
Keldorn
Minsc
Jaheira
Anomen
Imoen/Yoshimo
Jan Jansen
I know that's 6 people. Just fit the PC in as one of the NPCs. The only problem is the possibility of Anomen and Keldorn fighting, depending on what you suggested Anomen do concerning his sister's death (take revenge or not).
Tardazor Thu, 8th Jun '06, 7:32am If you want Korgan donīt go from the party, you can do anythig of this two cases:
- Get Viconia, and you can get a permanently -2 reputation, and never you can up above 18 of rep.
- Hit with a fist to a civilian. Warning, you donīt do it front a guard, because he attack you and you can screw you game. And preferably do it with a civilian alone, because you can attack others civilians and you reputation can go to zero. Be careful with this.
- Steal and get catched. You will lose reputation invariably, but you can go to jail.
Felinoid Thu, 8th Jun '06, 7:49am - Get Viconia, and you can get a permanently -2 reputation, and never you can up above 18 of rep. The last part is false; you can go above 18 rep, even with Viccy. But there is a little trick where you kick Viccy out, get the two points back to go from 18 to 20, get whatever reward includes a rep bonus (which has no effect as you're already at 20), and then take Viccy back to get the two points taken away again, going from 20 back down to 18. You'd probably have to kick Korgan out beforehand, though, which means that neither he nor Viccy get any XP included with your reward.
- Steal and get catched. You will lose reputation invariably, but you can go to jail. Um, there's no jail in this game. You might have to pay a fine to guards that show up, or maybe have everyone in the vicinity go hostile, however.
Personally, I prefer to just keep my rep low by killing a random lone person when my rep starts getting too high. (Do any shopping beforehand, though.) Just one innocent's death will blast your rep down to 9 or lower.
Tardazor Sat, 10th Jun '06, 5:49am The last part is false; you can go above 18 rep, even with Viccy. Mmmm, well, You can get for a little time (one second maybe) a "heroic" drow whitout he be Drizzt.
Um, there's no jail in this game. Steal, steal steal!!!
OK, Thanks Fel, I need play again the game...
Felinoid Sat, 10th Jun '06, 6:07am Mmmm, well, You can get for a little time (one second maybe) a "heroic" drow whitout he be Drizzt. Oh, well I didn't mean to imply that you would actually get to keep Viccy if you went above 18. Naturally she'll leave, and any other evil NPC will too.
Ilmater's Suffering Sat, 10th Jun '06, 6:32am My first party through (cavalier) and a reptuation of 20 was PC, Minsc, Jaheria, Yoshi (who was later replaced with Imoen), Nalia and Viccy (quicksave is your friend when you're carrying Viccy at rep 20). Having Nalia and Imoen together late in the game was nice in terms of mage power. My Cav was brutal, with 18 con and an Str of 18/50ish cuppled with holy strength as a spell-like ability, along with protection from evil, immunity to poison and resistance to fire and acid he had little problem with going toe to toe with Pit Fiends and other demons (dragons still hurt).
My second party through was a LE fighter who dual wielded longswords. I had Minsc (nothing like that LE CG connection), Viccy, Yoshi (who was replaced by Imoen) and Korgan and Aerie for fun (just made sure I reloaded after Aerie told me it was either her or Korgan who was leaving as my LE fighter was in the process of "courting" Aerie).
The lack of arcane casters in the second group made things unnessessarily difficult until I was able to pick up Imoen. Using Viccy and Aerie as my primary casters was beyond brutal. Only through summons and Korgan's seemingly endless supply of hit points was I able to beat Lovak and the Cowled Wizard in the planar sphere.
Make sure either Nalia or Edwin are in our party, even if your PC already is a mage/sorcerer, truly, there is no such thing as too much arcane power in ths game (though to be honest I've never been able to stand Edwin enough to let him in my party, Minsc never makes Edwin push up daises fast enough in my opinion). Aerie and Jan just don't cut it as mages.
starwalker Sat, 10th Jun '06, 7:02am Aerie is actually extremely powerful. She just takes some unique effort to really get going due to the combination she is. Though Having two mages is always nice and she does make an excellent backup through the entire game. She takes a little longer to really get going on her own though.
