You fo not only have to deal with sarevok, the cloudkill-casting mage is also a problem. First take care of Tazok, this can be done without seeing Sarevok. Watch out for the traps in the middle of the room. Use monster summoning too keep them busy, and kick Sarevok with missile weapons... For the fight is tough and it's your last fight, use every potion and protection-scroll you have. Cast Dispel on the enemies. GL

remember that spells don't work on Sarevock so get your priests ready to heal and equip your mages with some decent slings and stuff.

Personally, I used Imoen to scout out the area and disaramed as many traps as possible (SPOILER The ones in the middle can't be disarmed). Then I used her hide in shadows so that she could act as a scout for me (turn ai off so she doen't charge in) and (oh my god I'm a bit of a cheat) lured nasties out so that I didn't have to fight everyone at once (I have since managed to do it the hard way). I also made extensive use of Wands on monster summoning, Azagon's Scorcher (fire) and that one the Clerics get. These enabled me to do as much damage as possible without getting the party too close to Sarevok. I also used any strength, hero, heal, etc type potions. Oh yes, I prayed to any handy gods and kept my fingers crossed.

If you don't get many repsonses to this, try using the 'search' function for this forum. There have been a few similar discussions that you might find helpful.

Good luck with Sarevok!

Agannazar must be turning in his grave at that spelling of his name... :D

It'll get real dicey if Sarevok and all of his little minions come out at once, so be forewarned.

Utilize the Wand of Monster Summoning almost to the extreme to keep Sarevok away from your party; the summoned monsters really can't do him any harm, but he'll stand and fight them instead of you. You can then concentrate on killing his toadies. Once that's done, hit Sarevok with everything you've got. At first, I went toe to toe with him...that hurt! I then just backed off, summoned more monsters to keep him occupied and hosed him down with Arrows of Piercing and Acid Arrows. I honestly thought he was immune to all of the fire based spells, so I never hit him with any of those. Oh well, not the first time I've been wrong.

Have fun!

I went only for Sarevok at once. Didn't mind any of the others. Lost a couple or three party members though :(.

Hey a chance to clear up several of my mistakes in one go:

Havok, I think you are right about Sarevok being immune to Agannazar ( ;) Tal) scorcher. I always like to try though, just in case. I think I must have used it to get rid of his buddies as quickly as possible rather than on the big fella himself.

Sarevok has 90 or 95% immunity to magic so don't even bother trying. Hack & slash is the only way to take him down.

I didnt use any potions, just boots of speed and lots of monster summoning
basically I gave my character boots of speed, killed off his mages with fireballs first from just off screen, then got my group to wait near the arch and got Sav to run after me while my mage cast monster summon and anyone who could fire a bow filled him with acid, +2, fire and every other arrow I had
once he began staggering I ran back and laid into him with my magic sword (whatever it was)
and killed him

I had a lot of fun with this scenario.

I especially enjoyed one of Sarevok's mage pals teleporting directly in front of my two fighters (what a boob!). It's neat watching chunks of mage go flying thru the air.

It doesn't really matter how you beat Sarevok, just beat him. Because what counts is that your main character is left standing at the end.

What really helped me a lot was casting haste, having two good archers in my party (with magic arrows of course) and using all potions left.
If you like "cheating", using a thiefīs stealth abilities is a great tactic to kill him, too. Just sneak towards Sarevok until you see him (and only him), then step out of the shadow, run back to your party and....I think you know what to do.
If you want to kill him AND all of his fellows donīt mind if some members of your party get killed....you wonīt need them anymore...*g*

Boots of Speed, Potions of Speed, shortsword of backstabbing, a couple of scrolls of Protection from Magic and an insanely high Stealth score.

Use the pillars on either side of the room combined with your superior speed (you have to have a potion of speed and the boots to be faster than Sarevok, IIRC) to keep hiding in shadows and backstabbing. My Thief took out Sarevok and his crusty little henchmen all by himself that way.

Let's hear it for Thieves!

How do you backstab, never really got that concept. You just walk up to them from behind and backstab, or is it a skill you have to use in a certain way.

And for tips on how to beat sarevok, hmmmm...
Skulltrap at the end of the stairs, lure him and his buddies out. Lots of summoned creatures to keep him occupied and basically kick his ass, that's how I did it

I always go straight for Sarevok.
My party includes:
a ranger
Kivan
minsc
khalid
coran
xan

Give them all bow weapons (sling +1 for xan)
buy loads of magical arrows (you won't need the money again)
Use xan to summon monsters and cast spells on sarevok.
The others pelt sarevok with arrows of slaying . Sarevok usually dies before his little chums can kill any of my party.
his stats incidentally are

285 hp
ac -1
thaco 6
attacks 9
100% resistance to magical fire
