I spend hours at this game in this attempt and...I have level 12 wich for me is great. However...in my 6 player multy game I choose a sorcerer.
The game dosent specify that the sorc. need big charisma so I presumed it was ok to put inteligence. So the stats for him are 11 charisma,15wisdom,18 inteligence etc the rest are not important. Is a big mistake right? How much a diffrence make 18 charisma instead of 11?
Another thing...I have put on him the ring that gives 18 charisma and he can cast the exacly the same numbers of spells as with 11 charisma!!!?
If someone can help me and specify how many casting I will lose with 11 charisma I will be gratefull. Also, if charisma will matter in hight levels or such. Thanks in advance.

I dont think you need charisma is BG2 for a sorcerer so a low CHA score shouldnt really matter.

The BG2 sorc is dependant on INT. You made the right choice. :)

High Wisdom for better results when casting (limited) wish and high Dexterity for AC bonus are important for a sorcerer. A 16 on Constitution for hp bonus would be enough.
Strength (for possible combat and for being able to carry more equipment at the early stages of the game while you don't have bags), Intelligence (for lore bonus and for better resistance against Mind Flayer's INT drain attack) and Charisma (for lower prices at shops and IIRC for a slight lore bonus) are less important for a sorcerer though you need to have minimums on INT and CHA to be a sorcerer at the beginning of the game, but that much will be granted by the game once you choose to be a sorcerer.

Sorcerers in BG2 does not need any ability score for their spell casting skills. A sorc with 3 INT and 3 CHA will still get the exact same amounts of spells as a sorc with 25 in those stats. (ofcourse, a 3 CHA/INT sorc is not allowed, but I am speaking thereotically.)
However, you need 9 or 10+ INT to be able to read scrolls, and use magic items such as wands. Being able to handle these things is very important!
WIS is extremely important if you are planning to cast Limited and Full Wish spells. Without maxed out wisdom and even more, these spells tend to cause lots of trouble!
A power gaming sorcerer would have 18 STR, 18 DEX (much lower if you go for bracers of DEX), 17 CON (16 is the maximum HP bonus for mages but there is a reason to get 17, late in the game...), 10 INT, 18 WIS (crucial to use powerful WISH spells!) and lowest CHA possible (wear the ring or cast friends when CHA is needed!).

You could have a Sorcerer with 8 Int and 3 Cha...still wouldn't make any difference spell casting ability wise from a Sorc with 25 INT and 25 CHA...
Abilities make no difference for a Sorcerer...
Edit: I see Silverstar types faster than I do... :hahaerr:
