View Full Version : Dire Charmed by Succubus Brantley Sat, 14th Jul '01, 4:24pm My party members keep getting Dire Charmed and killing each other. I don't want the kiss. I should know how to protect from this but spells do not work in this room. HELP! Blackthorne TA Sat, 14th Jul '01, 7:11pm Use items that provide protection from charm: Lilarcor, the Equalizer, Shield of Harmony etc. If you don't have any and your party is such a low level that they don't make their saves, well, I guess you're SOL... cotman68 Sat, 14th Jul '01, 7:31pm I completely agree with Blackthorne-- I found that no spells really helped much anyway-- I went to my abyssal plane to cast them, then when I came back, they were either gone or didn't help much anyway... then I reached into my bags of holding to pull out some old favorites --like a helm of charm protection, etc.--things that didn't give me as much protection and other fun things as my new stuff--but items that kept the charm away. Tyresian Sun, 15th Jul '01, 4:19am That's strange, no items or anything seemed to protect my guys from the succubus's dire charm. It also seemed to ignore saves and MR since they charmed viconia who had 100% MR several times. Just like demogorgon's gaze of insanity. Anyways i always kept an archer in the back(mainly imoen) doing nothing with some arrows of dispelling to shoot whoever got charmed. It's faster than a dispel, guaranteed to work, and it hurts less than hitting them with carsomyr which is what i used to do. Capstone Mon, 16th Jul '01, 6:18pm You could always dominate them back as another option. Also, if you have Keldorn, his dispel is a special ability, which means it's virtually instant. Carsomyr's dispel ability (special, not "on hit") may be instant too, I'm not sure. Blackthorne TA Mon, 16th Jul '01, 6:46pm The problem is this is an anti-magic area, so you can't cast spells. I didn't have Keldorn or Carsomyr, so I don't know if special abilities are exempt from the effect. The protections provided by items I was carrying seemed to work though... Jander Sunstar Tue, 17th Jul '01, 1:30am Won't casting Chaotic Commands do, before entering the succubus filled area? cotman68 Tue, 17th Jul '01, 2:58am I tried chaotic commands---I went to the pocket plane and casted it all all my people.. then I went back and charged into the succubus chamber.. but it was either dispelled in the anti-magic room or had no protective effects against their charms Lord Praetor Munir Tue, 17th Jul '01, 2:47pm solved this problem yesterday.. but my party had 3 mages... me, Imoen and Edwin, using spell sequencers.... I let out 2 Greater Malison Spells and 1 Web spell while Imoen and Edwin each packed 3 Webs in their spell sequencers.. they must get caught.. after which.. just take them down at long range.. also.. I think you can cast spells here without the spell sequencer.... for that one pal of hers far back.. i had to use a comet and fireballs to kill her since she was in the fog of war and I knew there was one more missing... Big B Thu, 19th Jul '01, 12:41am I finally put that greenstone amulet to use in that battle. Yet another option to the charm problem ;) reijek hidesman Fri, 20th Jul '01, 4:48am Whenever I hear the sound of charmers, I instantly divert all my attacks to enemies I know to have that ability. This usually allows you to interrupt the spellcasting. If that doesn't work, and it's an anti-magic room, I usually send someone with a good AC to hang around and distract them and take the occasional hit (which sucks if the charmed person has a vorpal style weapon). |
