I'm starting a new RPG game so that we get accustomed with custom made worlds, rather than those already known. Or already existing. the rules will be slightly different, but the chance's for exp increase, there will be less monsters, but more hostile npc's. If you want to join send me your char sheet at 1st lvl, 30pt buy, 200gp of equipment.

And the Adventure begins.

Alton enters the Courthouse. In need of some coinage he walks over to the wanted posters and takes a look, not much today, but one catches his eye. A young looking cleric wanted for practicing magic in the town of Lok. There is a 1000gp reward for her capture.

Pimm walks over to the wanted posters to make sure he isn't there. Not today. He then looks to his left and sees a man eyeing a particular poster. Pimm walks over to and sees the 1000gp reward on it.
"Now that I can use," Pimm thinks to himself.
He then introduces himself to the other fellow. "Hi, my name is Pimm." extending is hand to the fellow.

The druid silmire sits at his table and watches. He stands up and walks to the board to find out what the too strange adveturers are looking at.
1000 eh? not bad for a pathetic cleric. I think i will take that challenge gladly

ooc: send me your char sheet if you want to join, otherwise you will be viewed as an npc.

Alton, looks to the people next to him,
thinking to himself, "hmm, maybe I can get them to do the work for me."
Alton looks up and says cheerfully, "Hi I'm Alton, pleasure to meet you, I see ya lookin at the poster, wanna join me in the search for her?"

OOC: This doesn't seem to be too active... maybe if you posted more information on backgrounding, more interest would be generated... if so I will join. I have an elven archer, a dwarven fighter, a human paladin, and a gnome illusionist; if you have a preference (i.e., there are already three fighters or your world doesn't really have gnomes) let me know.

Sorry - the post about the stat rules was meant for a diff topic! Heh, anyway, i'm going to send in my char in a few minutes.

*Kayl stepped into the tavern, looking to the wanted posters. The paladin's eye was caught by the 1000 gp reward poster instantly, he headed there without much thought to anything else.*

Seeing a crowd gathering over in the corner, Talisman begged the bar wench's pardon, removed her from his knee, and went over to see if he might perform a trick or two for the group's amusement. Seeing the serious look of adventurers, he forwent the frivolity and watched the proceedings with an interested eye. The bar wench did the same to Talisman's backside.

ooc: all pc's in this game are new to the land. As such they currently know nothing about it. To find out about it they must talk to people in around the town as they meet them. In the courthouse almost all the people from the city are gathered in one of the courtrooms because of a high profile trial. The pc's do not know who is on trial or for what reason being new here. to get a map of the town you must purchase one from the town's mapmaker. the pc's however don't know where his shop is so they must find out from the townsfolk, not all of which are receptive to stranger. The pc's also do not know the laws of this land so they are more apt to break the ones not implemented in their homeland. oh and the tavern would not be crowded today due to the trial.

ic: Alton not to patient returned his attention to the wanted posters that we're around and found no more of interest.

The wiry, disheveled gnome pushed his hair back out of his face with a grimy hand. "Blinking outfit," he grumbled. "No decent parts to be found within a day's journey, I'll warrant; not that I have the money anyway! Maybe I should stop tinkering for awhile and practise magic." The gnome stopped and looked around the Courthouse. A small group of fighter-types were collecting around a the wanted bulletins. "Wonder where the abyss I've landed, anyway..."

He wandered over to the group and soon realized what had caught their attention. A thousand gold pieces was a decent sum. What had the cleric done to merit the price? He scanned down the page to the details at the bottom.

ooc: I've only recieved 2 char sheets so far, I need the rest of them if you wish to play. If you don't know how to make a char sheet tell me.

ic: The details read "For illegal use of magic within Magefort".
Alton thinks to himself, "Magefort?"
He then turns to the gnome next to him, looks up into his face and says, "Hi, I Alton, I see you're a lil interested in this one, aren't you," seeing this person as another possible hand to do the work for him.

OOC: looks up? Is Alton a halfling?

IC:
"Hmmmph," Fezwik grunted. "Pretty sketchy details. Where's Magefort at anyhow? And just what did this cleric do? Suppose there must be a bailiff around here or some clerk who can give us more information. I've no intention of stepping into something without knowing what's going on, regardless of the reward."

The gnome looked at the speaker then. "Hah, sorry, I should introduce myself. I'm Fezwik Ildatch, come from Gullywash. Actually, I'm not sure where I am; I crashed my flying machine on that hill over there. Are you a local?"

ooc:Sorry I wasn't able to dm Friday, I injured my knee and was at the Doctors office for a while.

ic: As Alton was about to offer the Gnome the oppurtunity to join him in the search for the cleric the courtroom doors were thrust open and an elderly priest was led out by the bailiffs. Curiosity getting the best of him Alton followed them out of the courthouse where the priest was put into caged wagon and taken out of town.
The glum looking bailiffs turned around and headed back into the courthouse.

Xaed walks into the courthouse and sees a group of people arrayed about a wanted poster. "Hmmm mayhaps i see some gold about to be made". with that thought Xaed walks up to the poster and begins to read....

"Huh. Good thing I'm not a cleric... don't seem to be too popular round these parts," Fezwik muttered to himself. He took another look around the courthouse and shrugged his shoulders. No one seemed to interact with each other here. As the bailiffs turned back into the courthouse, the mage cleared his throat and stepped into their path. "Pardon me, but could you tell me what is happening to this old priest here?"

Xaed finishes reading the poster with a grin. "1000 gp.... certainly nothing to sneeze at. Never like to go after clerics though, Always end up blind or with a mace in the skull" with that he look at his belt pouch and jiggles it hearing very little coin moving about. Xaed looks back up and smiles warmly "Hello and well met, I see im not the only one who wants to see this person brought to justice for his foul acts!!! ....... and the reward is tempting, maybe we should join together to catch this Cleric".

Barent appeared out of the shadows of the courtroom, engaged in the procession he almost missed the group of people looking at the poster on the wall, "Heh, exactly what I need right now, some distractions."
The seasoned warrior of 32 years, tall and muscular walked over to the sign and pretended to look engaged in the other posters. He had, of course, already read them all and knew most off by heart, he just wanted to study this group. A mis-match group, probably all young hopefuls looking for some quicker gold and quicker fame, bah, if only they knew what it was like...
Deciding against his morals he walked over to the group, "I see you are all planning a field trip of sorts," He laughed heartily at his own, lame joke, "I think ye should all agree that I would be of service." To explain his point he drew his long gleaming rapier and his short sword and threw them both in the air simultaneously, and caught them with ease.
"Whatdya say?"

Ooc- ill send my sheet as soon as i can, gimme you email address as i couldnt be bothered clicking on the little button that has your email on it.

"Greetings and well met Barent". Xaed eyes Barent's rapier with a wry smile. "I see you too use a rapier as your weapon though im sure that you use the blade much better then me". Xaeds slim elven features lit up with a grin. "I havent had much use with my rapier due to my Bardic characer, maybe you could show me a trick or two with it". with that Xaed quickly pulls out his two trusty daggers and spins them in a dazziling if useless display quickly returning them to their respective sheaths after a few moments, laughing the whole time.

As the bailiffs bore down upon Fezwik, the gnome noticed a couple of adventurers displaying their juggling skills with weaponry off by the bulletins. He marked them for future reference; a slender elf, a bard by his comments, and a bulkier man wielding two weapons. Fez wasn't sure why he should be impressed by a man apparently in his prime being able to catch his weapons; he thought any fighter should be able to do the same. Why, even he could catch a dagger if he threw it up...

At this point his thoughts were interrupted by a sudden bump to his shoulder. The bailiffs, apparently not hearing his question, had moved right past him before he noticed. Cursing under his breath at the taller races' casual disregard, he hurried after them.

Xaed notices the gnome looking at him and the human warrior, He walks up to the gnome with a smile, "Hail, my name is Xaed Tahl'Aera, a bard by nature" Xaed executes a short bow, "I see that you too saw the poster on the cleric, might you be intrested in a partnership in tracking the man down?".

Fezwik turned around in surprise. "What's that? Oh, find the cleric? Town doesn't seem to like clerics, hey? I'm Fezwik Ildatch, from the Gullywash area. I hope you know more about this place than I do; I'm not even sure what the name of this town is. Do you know what's going on with this other cleric they're shipping out of town?"

Xaed responds quickly "No i dont know what happend to old cleric but maybe those bailiffs do", with that Xaed turns on his heel and attempts to get their attention. "Hey you good sirs, may i inquire as to what happend to that rather haggard looking old man?"

ooc: I see someones resurrecting an RC char in my game. Sorry haven't been home to post been at the doctors office.

IC: The bailiffs look at the man and say, "Use of weapons is not permitted within these walls." And with that they walk away.
Alton looks at Xaed and says "Now that was rude wasn't it. perhaps you should try one of the people that is exiting the courtroom as we speak."

*Kayl turns to watch the party in silence, as he usually did. The paladin was oddly distant and unusually quiet. He wore brown leather breeches, are brown leather shirt and a chain shirt over it. Across his back was sheathed a falchion and at his belt a sling. A huge man, 6'6" and over 170 pounds, he was obviously not one to trifle with. Crystal blue eyes and blonde, shoulder length hair, bound in a silver band, added to his sharp features.* "I shall join your group if justice is to be served"

Xaed's listens to the bailiffs aloof remark a look of suprise on his face, He sighs and turns to Alton and Kayl "Greetings, My name is Xaed, may I inquire as to yours?". Xaed looks at the noble if rather grim paladin "In response to your question I will too only follow the good path", Xaed's eyes widen as he attempts to smother his growing grin "but as my old human friend once said, A penny pinched is a penny earned. I follow these ideals wholeheartedly" with that Xaed looks back to Alton "I was wondering If you wanted to band together to catch this cleric, the reward seems pretty tempting"

*Kayl watched Xaed quietly, considering his words. Bards were known to take a discount every now and then, but that wasn't necassilary evil, was it? he thought.* "I am known as Kayl"

ooc:yes I got it, I haven't looked at it yet but I have it.

ic:Alton thinks, "hmm, with all these people will I need to do any of the work? probably not, perfect." Sure there's always room for 1 more. Now lets go talk to that gimpy fellow over there, as he is the least likely to run from us when we ask him about the elderly cleric.

After much questioning, and a few gold pieces they learn of a war between 2 neighboring cities, both far larger than this small town. They find out Magefort is the more powerful of the 2, but as of late the other city, Wincrest, has taken a few victories and is poised to turn away any of Mageforts offensives. The ruler of Magefort then issued a doctrine that all towns found to be harbouring clerics and paladins shall be burnt to the ground. As Wincrest is a church community. The town of Lok could not but adhere to the wishes of Magefort in their own way, so they prosecute all clerics seen using magic, and paladins for using their weapons in an "illegal" fashion to justify sending them to Magefort.

"Hmph!" the gnome snorted. "Told ya! Never get involved until you know what's going on. Fine adventurers you are, going after a cleric just for the gold. Next thing you know you'd have the High Muckety-Muck of Wincrest breathing down your necks. Twenty years in a jail or a quick execution is not a fair trade for 1000 gold."

Fezwik looked at Alton. "How much do you know about this war? Frankly, although I'm a bit of a mage myself, I'm more inclined to give Wincrest a hand. Sounds like they're the injured party here, but maybe I'm wrong and they're both just as bad." Then he turned to the others who had expressed interest. "Well, what about you? Glory's better than gold anyway, am I right?"

He motioned to the biggest man there, more than twice his height. "You look the holy type anyway. We may want to get you out of town before they get some bad ideas about you."

Another thought suddenly strikes him. "Alton, if this town is outlawing clerics, how in the Abyss do they take care of the healing?"

Xaed eyes the noble paladin uneasily, then speaks up "Whatever we decide, let us do it quickly before Kayl here gets in trouble with the "law", where we go now i dont know, this land is foreign to me" with that Xaed turns around and waits for someone to decide where to go.

Alton replies, "Just keep your sword sheethed and we should be fine. As I recall mages have some healing spells as well don't they? Any ways we need to find out as much as we can from the people here, as they seem a little reluctant to just throw paladins and clerics in jail for nothing. If we leave who knows what could happen. Plus we still don't have a map, nor do we know where their mapmaker is located. Who knows maybe this particular cleric committed a worthy enough crime I'm willing to find out, don' want to give up 1000gp just like that." With that Alton began walking in the direction that most of the commoners had taken.

*Kayl's face takes on a look of fury, then calms.* "Whoever is responsible for this will be punished. I vow it." *Kayl reaches up to make sure his falchion is clear in its scabbard and looks around, then heads off in the direction they took the cleric*

Alton notices the paladin heading off after the cleric that had just been taken away. Alton says, "Hey Kayl wrong way, information is this way, and I'm relatively sure magefort is that way, as the cleric is being taken to Magefort." under his breath he says,"*sigh*, big loaf."

With a shrug Fezwik headed after Alton. Being stuck in this town left him little in the way of alternatives. Even if the local blacksmith did have the parts he needed, which he doubted, he might well not have the money to afford it. He took a quick glance around to see who else was following.

Xaed follows Alton but wonders if maybe more could have been done for the Cleric.

OOC: when is the Session 2day?

Friday's session: Alton, Xaed, and Fezwick found he shop of the local mapmaker. He was quite rude, but still sold Alton a map that should be ready in a day or 2. Upon leaving they headed back for the courthouse to check the library and records. Before getting there they noticed a small group of mage's speaking to one another. Alton couldn't make out what they were saying. After they left Alton, Xaed, and Fezwick went to the courthouse and found the hall of records. The door was locked, no problem Alton quickly remedied that problem. Unfortunately one of the mages had seen them. He began yelling at the 3 in order to gain the upper hand when he cast a magic missle in xaed's direction taking them by surprise. A litlle into the battle Kayl showed up but was unable to make up ground before the mage was slain. Alton, Xaed, and Fezwick each get 390xp. and an equal split of 400gp(roughly 133gp 33sp, 33cp with one getting 34cp), plus the items which have already been split.

Alton seeing this as not the greatest place for this to have happens tells kayl to sheet his weapon now and for everyone to get in the records room. Alton goes in with everyone else, closes the door, then makes his way to the other end of room where he could reasonably say he just didn't hear what had happened as they had all been talking at the time discussing something.
Alton says, "They'll probably blame it on Wincrest, but Kayl should hide that sword as it is the same type xaed used to run the mage through with. And for God sakes, clean that blood off of it Xaed."

ooc: I'll send you a list of the mage's spells in the spellbook when I get the chance for fezwick.

*Kayl reluctantly sheathes his falchion, then moves to Xaed. He then sets a hand over his wounds and his head and channels a healing flow into him. (Lay on hands, 2 hp healed)*
"Why did the mage attack?"

The huge warrior followed Alton to the back of the room where he hoped they would be safe from attck via the guard.
"So, now most of us have bloodied our swords, what do we do now?"
Barent looked sorrowfully down at his own sword, wishing it had been bloodied in the battle but thus is the way of life. If you want it, you don't get it.

[Ooc - sorry i havent sent my sheet yet, i had to re-boot my computer and i havent even had time to download the character generator yet, but rest assured i will send it as soon as possible]

Xaed looks down at his bloodied blade and quickly cleans it off and sheaths it. "What a way to start an adventure" mumbles Xaed as he catches up to Alton

ooc: Kayl has a falchion, i have a rapier :p

Fezwik looked up from the wizard's spellbook at the newcomer. "Huh? Who are you?"

ooc: falchion incidentally is a type of scimitar, considerably different from a rapier. :) Also, it's 10 SP to a GP and 10 CP to a SP in the generator, so we should probably use that instead. (makes it easier on us poor PCs) On the same note of picking on the DM, I think spells have a DC as opposed to a failure rate. Failure rate I think is due to armor. DC for first-level spells for Fez is 15. Does that go down 1 for illusion school since he is illusionist?

Fezwik finished skimming over the spells in the mage's book and stuck it in his backpack. He'd study it later when there was some peace and quiet. For now, he wanted to figure out why the mage was so hostile. Perhaps it had something to do with Alton's past history...

Fezwik cleared his throat. "Alton, is there some light you could shed on why this mage attacked us for such a minimal reason?"

Xaed suddenly rememberd that Kayl asked a question, "Sorry, I got distracted thinking exactly the question you asked me, Ask my trigger happy friend over their", With that Xaed gestures towards Alton

*Kayl looks at Alton, then decide he has better things to do than wait for answers, and heads out of the courthouse, thinking about leaving for Wincrest in the morning*

Fezwik leaned over to Xaed. "Sorry... looks like you were right and I was wrong. The mage WAS out for your blood. Next time I'll keep my mouth shut."

ooc: Nocturne don't leave us! :) Assassin doesn't post on weekends usually.

EDIT: ooc: If you go to Wincrest, Fez is going with you. Heh. Wonder how Wincrest will appreciate a gnomish mage?

ooc: quick note for all those involved, I don't play on weekends. I race my car and hang with friends. so if you guys could slow down a lil instead of speeding up on weekends it would be a great help. oh and I guess I misread the falchion thing.

ic: Alton replied, "I don't know but it could be because he was particularly evil and you guys are particularly good. just a theory." Alton and the others waited for a few hours, looking over the records and finding nothing of interest, before they heard people enter the building and come near enough to door to be heard. Alton thought to himself, "I wonder if they'll notice the to bolts in the ceiling?" Another hour or so later a commoner opened the door and saw them. He yells over, "What have you done here?!" Alton replies quickly (to keep his new friend from slipping up), "We've been researching, don't worry we'll clean up any mess we make." This bewildered the commoner. he says, "Don't you know whats happened?"
"A few books fell and you came to see what the sound was, right?"
"Um, you don't know what happend out in the main corridor?"
"Main corridor?"
And with that the commoner left with a bewildered look on his face, most likely going to get an elder who can better piece together what exactly our part was, if we had any part in it at all.

ooc: Er, and what the heck were we doing in those three hours? Is Alton going to address any of the several questions that we threw his way? We posted a lot over the weekend, but we haven't advanced the time frame at all.

*Kayl turned to lok at the group* "I'm leaving in the morning, come with me if you want"

Alton says, "Well it would be very suspicious if we leave before they comeback, and I'm pretty sure I can convince this elder that we had nothing to do with the attack, and that we had no idea it had happened. From what I can see the mages from Magefort seem to come through this area quite a bit and you being a paladin, it could get pretty dangerous, but if you are so determined to leave go ahead. Now be quiet so I can hear what is being said out there."

Out in the hall the commoner approaches the elder with the news of the strangers in the hall of records. When the elder hears there is a paladin amongst them he calls for the guards and tells them to fallow him to the hall of records where they will stad guard until he either comes out or calls for them.

"Sir Paladin, I believe now would be a good time to make yourself scarce. Alton, you haven't given us an answer on why you and the mage had such itchy trigger fingers."

ooc:The only question I was asked was why the mage attacked. and I'm pretty sure I gave reason for my attacking, ie the spell he was preparing to cast that I noticed.

ic: Alton replies, "I don't know why he attacked other than that I um let myself in to the hall of records, maybe it was the babbling that set him over the top?"

"While we're in here, is there something we should be looking for? Or maybe we should let ourselves out the back window and hotfoot it for Wincrest? I don't know about you, but I'm not so confident about convincing these mages that we had nothing to do with it."

Alton replies, "Then its a good thing we aren't going to have to convince the mages, just some town elder, now shh. I hear somone coming."

Just as they quieted down the elder walked in. not quite as dimwitted looking as the last fellow, but no signs of wisdom either.

Alton whispers, "Must be a shortage on town elders for them to send us this one."

"Hi I'm,"
"A stranger, yes we know, why are you here?"
"I was going to say my name, but if you insist, we're here researching the area, seeing if we might find a lead on where to find this wanted cleric."
"You will find no such information in here, how long have you been in here?"
"we've been in he.."
"I said how long?!"
"Well sirr we've been here"
"Nevermind that, what did you do to that man out there?"
"We didn't even know there was one, not until the other guy told us."
"What other guy? Maybe it was him."
"I doubt that sibce he was the one that told you of us."
"oh right, um well you sure you didn't have anything to do with this?"
"Yep, I'm sure we didn't."
"fine good day then."
Whispers, "What an old fool."

Fezwik shakes his head in consternation. "What a mess. Now what are we looking for in here?" After glancing around to see if the paladin was still within the room, the gnome started scanning the shelves for interesting topics.

Alton says, "What we need is to find a record of all the trials of clerics and paladins. If we're lucky we may find one that actually was acquited of the charges. Maybe they could shed more light on the situation within the town. We should also try to find any record of the cleric we are looking for."

ooc:Herf, I still need your char sheet.

Suddenly a portal opens and a body of a half-orc drops out of it, folowed by his great axe. Everyone loks at it with a surprise, then the body moves...
"Ha! That stupid lich can't ifen cast imprisonmenth ight"-the half-orc looks around- "so adventhurers,heh, mind if I jointh you?"

ooc: one of my lil brothers foolishly uninstalled my char generator so I no longer have anyones char sheets. if you would please resend them it would be of great help.

ic: Alton looks startled. His first thought is, "I hope this giant doesn't try to eat me", and then laughs off the ridiculousness of it. Alton says to the others, "Well what should we do with this one? We could frame him for the wizard's death, but from what I've read in these <pointing ot the records in front of him> they'll probably blame it on Wincrest anyways."

"Is everyone prepared to leave? If so, let us go." *Kayl said with grim determination*

"Sir Paladin, I'm with you. I hope they aren't as close-minded in Wincrest as they are around here." Fezwik shoulders his backpack and prepares to depart with the holy warrior.

ooc:Sorry people I've had a few things I had 2 do last week and was unable to get on.

ic:Well I still must pick up my map, afterall I have already paid for it, and maybe we should stay another day or 2 before we leave, just so we might be able to figure out what we're going to be dealing with.

Sacrafix had been following the scholars in silence. Seeing that action was drawing near, he joined the ranks and prepared to lead.

"Allow me to take the rear-guard. My midst will be able to help conceal our tracks."

ooc: I know I haven't been around much lately, been real busy, but I need more people in the group before I can DM a Fridays, because what is the point if only 1 other person is going to show up.

IC:
Alton then walks over to the mapmakers and is told it is not done yet. They have a lengthy discussion about what has happened and Alton learns that their ploy has indeed worked, the town has blame the death on the people of Wincrest. When Alton returns he tells the others of his findings and suggests that they find an inn as they seem to be ouot of trouble.

I'm thinking of joining this little adventure but i'm not sure what you mean by a char sheet, please fill me in, coz this is basically the first time i actually decided to join one of these roleplay quests, they do look great and i have a decent idea for a char.
