View Full Version : An appeal to inventive thinking

Since Iīve seen wondrous combinations of weapons, skills, potions on this forum which I would never have made up on my own, I began to wonder if there were more inventive ways of slaying, bashing, killing, murdering or getting rid of your enemies in ways I would never had imagined.

Letīs try to calculate the highest possible damage done in one turn, at the end of SOA, when a character has reached his exp. cap.
Ofcourse without cheats and editors.
All possible combinations of findable potions, spells, weapons and armour can be made. Since changing into the slayer is something a little odd Iīm also interested in the highest damage done without changing into the slayer.
Letīs hear it.....

As I am at work now and donīt have access to my AD&D books, Iīll try to reply to this subject tonight, at home.

I dont have the exact numbers here but when I played with my berserker powergamer he could do an unholy amount of damage. He had Celestial Fury and the flail of ages ecquipped. Four attacks basic and then an improved haste that put that to 8 attacks per round. At the end of SOA my party didnt have to do much. He usually killed everything by himself. But I suck at math and are therefore unable to count how much damage he did per hit.

I had a avenger/fighter with staff of Rhynn and once my critical hit was 52.

There was a post slightly similar to this: Highest non-magical damage here. (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002162.html)

Yep, I saw, but this one goes also for the combination with magical spells, potions etc. in one turn.

I'm pretty sure an Assassin dualed to a fighter that quaffed a potion of storm giant strength and wielding Celestial Fury could do an enourmous amount of damage once you get the x7 backstab. But I never waste my time testing such foolish things.

Let's see...

There are recipies of doing an enormous amount of damage.

1.)Take a kensai

2.)Equip him with the Celestial fury main hand and the Crom faeyr off hand and give him **** in katana and war hammer proficency slots. You also give him a pair of boots of speed.

3.)Level him/her up to level 19.

4.)Use his/her kai ability as many times as you can.

So...his/her damage will be 37 with the Celestial Fury and 35 with the Crom Faeyr.
He/she attacks four times per round; three times with the Celestial Fury and once with the Crom Faeyr. It is 3x37+1x35=146 Hp of damage per round knowing that the kai ability grants the kensai to deal the maximum damage. At level 19 he/she has five kai's, so he/she can do the maximum damage for 5 rounds. that is 730 points of damage in 5 rounds. In the other 5 rounds the kensai's damage varies Cel. Fury: 28-37; and the Crom Faeyr: 29-35.

So the possible Max. damage with this plain kensai using only his/her abilities is 1295-1460 points of damage per turn, suspecting that there are no misses(5 % chance of critical miss) and he/she can cast the kai without interruptions.

Huh! So mutch for powergaming!!!

Anyone want to compare those to if he had been dual wielding Kudane +2 and Belm +2 at the same level when drinking a potion of storm giant strength beforehand? I'm not good with numbers. Ragusa comes to mind.

Um, I just posted this but it kinda fits into this topic as well. With my level 11/12 fighter/invoker I get 5 attacks per round with the above weapons(unhasted of course), and if I use the Ring of Gaxx to improve haste myself or simply cast the spell, this changes to an amazing 10 attacks per round! If combined with a potion of storm giant strength, you could do an insane amount of damage, and even more so with a Kensai.
