My mage is a human dual class fighter/mage. She's 9/13 lvl. I wanted to see the effects of MMMeteors. Every time I try to cast it the attack sword cursor appears instead of the moon/stars magic cursor. She starts to attack as if I hadn't selected a spell. I've tried this spell with her bow, dagger, or just bare hands selected, all to the same result. Anybody run into or hear of this? I had this problem pre & post certified patch.(didn't go 4 the beta)

Melf's Minute meteors can best be compared to a druid spell flame blade or any spell that creates any magical weapon. The reason you cannot target a creature with the spell is because it cannot be targeted, it is cast on the caster so to speak and nothing else. When it is cast, it creates around eleven small meteors in the casters weapons slots. These stones then can be hurled at oponents ala missle weapons. They stay in your weapon slots until you use them all or until the spell duration expires. I don't know for sure the damage or thaco these meteors have.

Go figure. Who'd of thunk that I just wasn't patient enough to wait for those little fire flies to appear. I doubt those little buggers would've done anything to that pesky red dragon anyway. I was just curious .

Thankyou terribly much, Crawl, I'll endeavor to be more patient in the future.(setup for failure again...)

You'd be suprised. They probably wouldn't have done anything to the dragon, but they can do some nice damage to other creatures.

Hmm, the wizard (or bard) gets 5 attacks per round, with a +5 THACO-bonus, and the meteorites are treated as +5-weapons, and do at least 5 damage each hit. (+3 fire damage)

That isn't bad for a level 3-spell, is it ?
