Is it possible (I read it somewhere) to pickpock Aran for this armor? I'm not in that area with any char for the moment, so I can't try it myself.

At some point both Brus, who runs an errand for the Shadow Thieves, and Valen, who runs an errand for the rival guild, are going to make an offer for your allegiance.

You pretty much have to side with Valen's group in order to eventually obtain Aran's chainmail.
