View Full Version : ALFA adventures
Sir Belisarius Thu, 25th Sep '03, 6:47pm I've been struggling with making up cool adventures for people...I guess I'm having creative brainlock.
I do enjoy possessing various static NPC's and monster spawns to interact with players...That's how most of my DM type quests come about...From talking to the players.
Frostbite Fri, 26th Sep '03, 2:20pm *scowls at Bel*
I hate goblins now.
Sir Belisarius Fri, 26th Sep '03, 3:27pm Teehee - Just make sure you plan tactics when you are in the spawn hideouts! Because if I'm on...I WILL drop in...
Gothmog• Sat, 27th Sep '03, 12:59pm For anyone who have updated on 1.32 yet and cant play here (http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_sou.html) is a revert patch. :)
Seems bioware updated and changed the looks of patches/support. For the better imo.
Mesmero Sat, 27th Sep '03, 1:41pm Early this morning, there was a man waiting for Orbrin Brightaxe outside the inn in which he was staying. It was a messenger, who told Orbrin that he had an urgent message from Dorgal Brightaxe. The messenger gave Orbrin a note and left. Orbrin unfolded the letter, which was written in the Dwarvven language. Orbrin slowly read the note. The letter was from Orbrin's cousin. He wrote to Orbrin that he didn't have long to live, and the shrine which he took care of didn't have a new caretaker yet. He asked Orbrin if he would be his successor. Orbrin was honoured by this request and immediately left Daggerdale behind to head towards the Savage Frontier.
Orbrin soon arrived in Beliard, where his cousin was waiting. Dorgal died a few days afterwards, leaving the shrine to Orbrin. Orbrin sees this as a new challenge to fight for the good cause in Moradin's name.
As the visitors of the ALFA forums might already have read, I've stepped out of the light and became a member of the dark side. I have become an ADM on Yartar, so I guess I won't be seeing you around on Daggerdale.
I’m taking Orbrin with me, for he is a very good character to play, and don’t want to leave him behind. I think this is a valid reason to bring him to Yartar, and this way, I hope to keep him involved.
Arwen gave me a tour yesterday and it looks great. This might not be the nicest thing to say, but Yartar looks like a pearl, compared to the stone that is Daggerdale. Daggerdale was probably made to be efficient; Yartar was made to be the best of the best of the best. I can’t compare it with other servers, for I haven’t played on many, but I’m sure Yartar has a lot to offer the players who like a good looking environment and NPC interaction (you can even make a goblin dance if you pay the owner a few gold pieces ;) ) Arwen has done a great job making everything in detail, and I feel like I will fit right in, as a perfectionist myself.
I hope that maybe a few of the SPers will visit Yartar some day.
Capt. Tripps Mon, 29th Sep '03, 10:12am You know we have to get Xenmaster to join SP now. My ALFA name is Seebo Mesmero :)
Mesmero Mon, 29th Sep '03, 10:56pm I actually already knew you are Seebo.
If we get Xenmaster to join, we'll probably also need to get Arwen back to SP.
And what about Erran. I haven't seen him around here recently.
Gothmog• Sat, 4th Oct '03, 1:04pm I play a monk now. Gothmog Nefzvros.
He's mad and thus will not live long.
Next char will be a halfling druid. Amazingly he will not have a bear or a dire wolf for a companion ;) Also there are no hin druids afaik.
He'll be a smart guy and quite agile. Loves to hide and startle people with sudden appearances. Thus his companion will be very much like him. Panther :) Both sneaking around
Havent chosen a name yet though.
Ah, he'll use a sickle and an oaken shield combined with hide armor. Likes to throw darts :)
Mr Writer Sat, 4th Oct '03, 6:54pm Bad News
Well anyone who knew her of followed her storey Earania is dead :( and she never did find Tojan.
Good News
Talmad's offer of Tee-shirt goodness was too much for me to refuse I plan to acept his offer to ADM on Baldurs Gate. The lag issue is so much better now the guards killing bandits loot problem has been sorted.
/me cheers
Mathetais Tue, 7th Oct '03, 9:01pm Well, Cromasis Thunder-Mount hit two major goals last night.
First, he was officially inducted into the Ironstar Clan.
Secondly, he reached 6th level.
Joining the Ironstars was a tough battle for old Crom. As a follower of Silvanus he felt at odds with many of his dwarven cousins, but he did feel the tug of clan and kin. As an animal master, he saw a need for his services in the Ironstar Halls, and therefore began working towards entrance into the clan. It took nearly a year (game time) before he was finally invited and sworn into the clan. Last night he found himself in the bowels of the Ironstar Hall, kneeling before the anvil of Moradin. The Soul Forger himself was to test his soul to deem his worthiness into the clan.
Surrounded by allies, he stepped to the anvil, voice shaking and palms sweating. He had long sought solace from Silvanus, and knew in his soul that the Oak-Father understood his devotion to Moradin and the dwarven gods, and was content as long as Silvanus was first in his heart. Lifting his voice, he spoke the words that flowed from his heart:
Praise be to Moradin my Rock
Who trains my hands for war
my fingers for battle
He is my loving God and my fortress
my stronghold and deliverer
my shield in whom I take refuge
who subdues peoples under me, my clan and my kin
Ol Moradin, accept me as your servant
lift my arms for your work
train me to rally even the heart of nature to your cause
Send forth lighting and scatter your enemies
Reach down your hand from on high
and deliver your clan from the mighty waters,
from the hands of drow and Zhent
Then our sons in their youth will be like well nurtured plants
and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace
Our halls will be filled
Blessed are the people of whom this is true
Blessed are the people to whom Moradin is their God
Finishing this prayer, a dim light and dull thud sounded through the hall. People look confused at first as the previous candidate had been welcomed by a clear, distinctive flash of light. Forcing a confident expression Cromasis marched to the high priest and waited to hear the decision. "You should a been a priest lad ... but Moradin welcomes you to the clan!"
Having obtained this goal, Cromasis now is beginning to prepare for a long trip. The details cannot be shared right now, but he will be gone from the dale for many months.... be at peace.
Sir Belisarius Tue, 7th Oct '03, 10:21pm Congratulations!!! 6th level!!! You've made quite a character! No easy feat in ALFA. WhooHoo! I've been mia lately...A lot of work, and my spare time has been used up playing TOEE!
Gothmog• Tue, 7th Oct '03, 10:28pm Just be living Cromasis :D
I'll be having my first custom-made stuff in the game soon. Boiled leather, and a nice large shield. My char is getting more and more complete each day i wait, for this week to end (school is madness  ) and in the weekend New guy :)
The only problem i'm facing now is his name. I've gotten some, that i like but some dont sound too halflinglike. I think. :heh:
I've also tried some name generators but they're just repeating prety much the same names over and over again. :(
Where do you folks get your char names?
Frostbite Wed, 8th Oct '03, 2:02pm *snivels*
Wish I could get back online. Blaster worm on Home PC, so here I am at school :(
Kaali still lives. Do you think that a ranger cleric of corellon Larethian could get in on the circle?
Kaali is doing really well! I might actually hit level 3!
Rotku Fri, 10th Oct '03, 10:59am Well I might actully hit... Level two!
I kept my character alive for one whole day today!
Royln Bladebite!
I met some druid and we went and hunted goblins and ants and birds and black villains, and we where going to head off to some other city, where he is from, but he had to leave :(
Oh well, maybe later.
Well, I'm half way to getting my character up to level two!
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Sat, 11th Oct '03, 6:07am I finally picked up SoU. After about a 2 month reprieve it's back to the Swamp for me :)
Need to make a new character though. I retired my 4th level female rogue before ALFA updated to SoU. I'm thinking of a gnome cleric of Baravar Cloakshadow this time.
Rotku: If keeping characters alive is proving difficult, I would suggest not focusing so much on 'leveling'. While it's always exciting to see that your PC earned 100 xp, I've found that it drives more 'risky' behaviour ("Only 250 xp to next level! Gotta finish one more quest before loggin"). Seriously. Ignore your xp gains and focus on just developing your character and keeping them alive (i.e., learning when to run from a fight, and when to turn down quests). Taking it a bit slower, developing your character, and building ties to other PCs really does increase survivability.

Rotku Sun, 12th Oct '03, 10:30pm I don't focus on getting up levels. I try and have fun!
But I just have a bad habbit of making my character's stupidly brave.
But this one's going to be different.
A typical example just happened. I was going hunting those birds when I had just stopped to record something in my journal. The next moment a dire wolf had attacked me, and already taken me to half health. Of course, I tried to run, but for some reason I had been slowed. Death came quickly... :(

idoru Mon, 13th Oct '03, 3:43am If keeping characters alive is proving difficult, I would suggest not focusing so much on 'leveling'. While it's always exciting to see that your PC earned 100 xp, I've found that it drives more 'risky' behaviour ("Only 250 xp to next level! Gotta finish one more quest before loggin").Great advice. This has got me killed countless times on alfa, back when I was a player... heh, it still gets me killed on those odd nights when I run around on some non-alfa server as a player. Patience really is a virtue.
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Mon, 13th Oct '03, 7:38am Well, I didn't mean to imply that you weren't RPing or that you were powergaming. But there are a lot of gaming habits that are simply lethal on ALFA, one of which is going for that last little bit. Regardless of how brave your character is, eventually they need to stop and get some rest, or grab a pint at the tavern ;) It's also a good idea to take a break after a couple quests or adventures, mainly for you as a player. I always find that after a while (about and hour or so) my concentration starts to waiver and I start to make mistakes. When you're just RPing this isn't a problem, but it can be the end of the road in combat. It also gives you a chance to make journal entries, catch-up on 'local' in-game gossip, make a safety log, and so on. It's often hard to do, but it does pay off.
There was a post from a while back that had some very good tips on survival in ALFA. It seems to have fallen by the wayside, but you would do well to search for it: the poster's name was K_E_N_S_A_I, and it was titled something like 'General Surivial Tips'. I think it was in the General Discussion Forum, but it might have been in the TVS forums.
A final suggestion: You may want to try a server like TVS for a while. This isn't a knock against DD, but surviving on TVS is much more difficult - at least until you learn some basic skills. Just by watching some of the other players (especially the old-timers like VB, Thamier, Rifter, Fru and others) you'll learn a lot. And playing with other TVS regulars will help you pick up a lot of good habits. It's also a great server :)
Vormaerin Mon, 13th Oct '03, 10:39am Well, gnomish followers of baravar cloakshadow are fun. But a rogue would be a lot more interesting than another mangy cleric. Though it is funny watching these parties of clerics and fighters stumble into all sorts of traps and being foiled by all sorts of locks.
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Mon, 13th Oct '03, 5:43pm Hehe. How about a cleric/rogue then? Since I hadn't played in a while, I didn't realize the plethora of cleric-types out there right now. So I created my little cleric, only to find myself in a party with another cleric, a fighter, and a druid. Healing certainly wasn't a problem, although our scouting left much to be desired ;)
Gothmog• Thu, 16th Oct '03, 10:10pm Well, now Himo is my third real character. First Jacha... then Roshnak and now Himo :)
And purely RPing... quite the contrary to Roshnak(hunting :o )
Played for few days now and have 29xp. Incredible no? :p
Danubus... How's IWD for lvl1?
I meant to go to BG, but i've heard its a slaughterhouse there  Bandits and thugs roaming the place... not a place for lvl1 anyway. When i'm stronger though
So... How is it?
Haha!
The Unwanted adventorous group is born!
The first members were... Himo, Cob, Moriart, Silverbeard (i call him Silverbeer :) ). Corrinna Fee and Riely Surelade.
Out of these though Riely and Corrinna are very likely not to join us.
But its all still in bandages, so its not all certain yet... But i sure will try to make it!
Mighty Fine :D

Danubus Thu, 23rd Oct '03, 10:49pm Lvl 1's can survive if they play smart. I would suggest you group though if you leave the cities or venture into the Keep.
Monsters will own you if you act foolish.
Gothmog• Fri, 31st Oct '03, 10:13pm Last week was a bit of a ALFA break for me. Etherlords II, IWD II, and a tiny little bit of ToEE.
But today that i logged on, after some time, was awsome!. Without any DM's online
I got sat by the fire outside River gate.(heh.. always same ;) ).
Corrinna Fee came by. We were adventuring together before... The Unwanted adventuring group (long story) :D .
Anyway, she asked for a private word, outside the earshot of the mass of profesional guards and militia. So we went to the bridge by the Tensherford inn. The sound of water hushed all other noises so noone could hear us. We also spoke in hushed tone. What followed is a secret though :p
Suffice to say, we struck a deal. A profitable one at that. And one people wouldnt consider a very druidic one. But i dont want my Himo to be a standard druid.
After that we went back to the fires. A while later two folks came by from south. Kree, a huge half-orc barbarian, and another one(i forgot the name).
They were both lightly injured. When asked they replied they were in the hills, killing some spiders. And they intended to go back, once they got the neccessary supplies. Himo got nothing else to do, so he agreed to come along. Also another fellow went alone... he claimed he can heal us, if we were injured.
Unfortunately, once we set out, beyong the warm light of the fires, night came upon us all. We dismissed it, as a mere inconveniance for a true adventurers, such as we were.*grins*
But only a minute or so after we entered the hills there was a nasty suprise waiting for us... Two dire wolves, waiting in ambush.
Fortunately for me i was hidden, and wolves did not notice me. They lurched after the other three fellows.
I did the only sensible thing... Run as fast as i could. I stayed hidden a second more for the fighters to overtake me, foolishly charging the beasts. After that i just ran back the way we came.
Unfortunately, others were either not as smart, or overconfident in their ability. They all charged in frontal assault.
I looked over my shoulder after a few second of running... and i saw dwo bodies lying on the ground. Third just fell as well. I ran some more, as i never knew if the wolves were satisfied with the meal they got or not.
Finally, when i arrived back on the road, i stopped and thought a bit more rationaly.
I decided i cannot leave them behind, without checking if they were still alive.
So i headed back... i stuck wisely to the shadows, corners and high grass where i could find it. I finally arrived at the place of the slaughter. And indeed a slaughter it was. Entrails of one of my fellows were all over the place, whole pools of blood, and other horrible sights.
I found the man who claimed can heal. Or better who had claimed he could heal. His throat was all ripped out and by the look of it, it was his bowels that were streched far off. What i did not like though, was the sound of gnawing at the other side of them. Two dire wolves, feasted on them. They either did not notice me (not very likely) or were busy enough with their tasty meal, not to care for a skinny hin and decided i was not worth attacking.
Slowly i came to the other corpse... he seemed still alive. He also had a holy symbol hung around his neck, so it was a good chance he could have some divine favour shine on us. I healed him, with what limited magical powers i posessed. Fortunately it was enough.
But the Direwolves did not like the sight of one of their prey escaping. They charged again. I ran... again... the same way. But the man was a bit dizzy, and ran the wrong way. He got stuck atop a hill, while the wolf casualy walked up to him and toppled him back down. It was too much for him. He fainted. Wolf was obviously satisfied and went back to feeing off the entrails of the poor priest.
Again, i came to the road. And went back.
Fortunately the man fell on the right side of the hill, so the wolves did not hear me healing him. After that i went and healed the barbarian as well. Dire wolves stirred, and charged again. We ran. Wolves ran. I guess i was faster becouse i was not injured, while my companions were on the brink of conciousness, held up only by adrenalin.
They once again fell to the bites of the dreaded beasts. Fortunately they are not the smartest animals, for they went back to the their meal.
I was exausted, spent of what meager magical powers i possesed, so i laid down and meditated a while.
Then i went back and safely refreshed fellows back to conciousness. Indeed one of them showered himeself and his companion with the glory of his god. We decided to wait and rest till morning to go back and snatch the corpse from the nasty wolves. We made a fire, and waited, healed some more with some herbs i found in the nearby forest.
In the morning we got up... again i went up ahead, staying hidden. Very luckily for me the wolves must've hidden before the sun, to their lairs to lick their wounds. I went back, got Kree (barbarian) to help carry the corpse. Naturaly on the way to the city i made him carry it all by himself :)
So endeth the big adventure. Now i surely know why Halflings have "lucky" property. +1 to all saving throws. But it seems that mainly affects general luck.
Just think... one of us got killed, other got below 0 three times, and the other twice below 0 as well. Every time one of them got it i was there along him.
And i was wastly weaker than any of them :p
All had about 25hp while i had 8hp.
So awsome!
Frostbite Sat, 1st Nov '03, 2:55pm *snivels*
I'm ready to go back... but I can't find my keycode! damnit! I can't reinstall NWN till I find it :(
Ah...
Kaali's still alive, I have all the needed .HAK files stored on a CD (or two) Damn...Must, find, Keycode.
Gothmog• Sat, 1st Nov '03, 8:35pm Dont you have it on the back of your game manual?
I do... and to all those who do have it there as well, a warning... It gets erased pretty soon.
I nearly lost a letter before i noticed. :heh:
Luckily i noticed and made a backup on the back page :)
Frostbite Sat, 1st Nov '03, 8:54pm I found the manual after digging around ^_^
Small problems with actually running NWN now, It goes slow as ... a snail of dope. Really slow.
Gothmog• Thu, 6th Nov '03, 8:43pm Again... Awsome!
Last night i mean.
Little ooc: I didnt really know what god should Himo worship. So standard - Silvanus. But then Thingray comes by and says "no-no hin's dont worship Silvanus". And the day way on
Ashton Crow dissapeared when the devil Nazh was banished from Daggerdale. He helped escape the party, while he stayed behind. And now he's been appearing around. Thing is, he seems to be living in another version of DD. Basicaly the same land, but many things are different (walls are higher, Springs are a ruin,...). Even more there seem to be different versions of him as well. Last time he came and claimed he worships Torm. And most of people knew he is a Banist. The other times, he is still a priest of Bane.
In any case, he's changed.
So had the day started. Ashton appeared outside the River gates, and wished to see lord Randall Morn (of which he had an illusion is a wizard). We told him he is not, but that there is his subordinate, who has considerable skill in arcane. So we went with him to see the mage. Unfortunately, the strange portal appeared again and sucked him in again.
A while later he appeared again. Badly beaten. Luckily Arien was with us, so we healed him as best as we could. (there were three of us... Himo, Arakiel and Arien). This time we decided to bring the mage to him.
So Arakiel and Himo went to ask him for help. Surely enough we found him, and he agreed to come along. But by the time we arrived outside the Daggerfalls, Crow was gone again.
((Boombrakh had to go :( - Ashton was his guy, so the thing stopped)).
But even stranger things started to happen then. Suddenly the ground below my feet were specked with daisies. I carefuly moved off it. Another one appeared under me. Then bubbles started coming out of my head. And soon there was a birilliant flash, and a beautiful, golden, spear-like sickle appeared on the ground. I had no idea what was going on. Arakiel and Arien though, knew that the daisy is the sign of Sheela. The goddess of love and halflings.
And so Himo now believes :)
Later Arien and Arakiel went to show me the way to Dagger Springs (for the unlightened: a village in the forest with druids and ranger type folks living there). On the way we talked about the Cricle of Seven Daggers (a druidic circle). About what it does,...
An mountain ogre rudely interrupted us, so we shoo-ed him away (with various pieces of sharpened metal ;) ). We reached Dagger Springs where we went, exhausted to sleep. Free inn!
To be continued... (when i play more) :D
EDIT: Tomorrow (8.11.03) I'm going to Arabel, searching for Cob. Besides, Himo is curious and intends to travel a lot. :)

Rotku Tue, 18th Nov '03, 10:09pm I finally found time to play again and it was great!
My newest Cleric, Ereb, priest of Kelevemor, logged on at some strange time, and to my surprise there was one whole other PC there. She was bored and had been waiting for someone to come so they could go hunting together. So after going on a small shopping spree we decided to go hunting goblins.
After about five minutes of walking Vier'vyll tells Ereb that she's forgotten the way, and is lost. So we spend ages looking for the path back to the city. After a long while we end up finding our selves in White Chalk, so decide to go and hunt some ants.
Both Ereb and Vier'vyll found that fun, and with both of our healing powers we managed to survive. She turned out to be a priestess of Loviatar, which is a most unlikely person for a one in the service of Kelevemor to go around with, but after a bit of arguing we became friends...sort of.
After finishing killing the ants we went for a walk around dagger falls, where we meet on of Veir'vyll's friends, called Alyssa. Together we all headed back to the main city where we decided to go and see what had happened under the temple. This all been new to Ereb, he quickly learnt that some drows had come out from under the temple and had killed all the cities high priests, or something like that.
Under the temple we found a few undead, quickly putting them to rest, Ereb and his companions continued down, were they found another door leading to a cave. Exploring the vast caves they were attacked a few times by some rats and other flying things, before they found 'them'. Walking around a corner Alyssa spoted some big creature up ahead. In a quick whispered conversation we decided to do the sensible thing and run!
For the second time in one day Ereb had to run. It wasn't running from the creatures he didn't like, it was running at all. Emerging from the temple, they were very greatful for Alssya's fine sight, and that the monsters didn't pick up their sent, and decided to head off the the Broken Dagger for a drink.
Staying there for a fair while Ereb, Vier'vyll and Alyssa decided to go and hunt for goblins, and this time with Alyssa as a guide we hoped that we wouldn't get lost, and of course, we didn't. The goblin caves lacked many goblins so we emerged from that ralitivly unharmed.
Alyssa then informed us that it was time for her to meditate, so we headed back off to the dagger falls, where we meet her. She took a while meditating. Ereb took the chance to wash himself while Vier'vyll sat nearby.
Finishing her meditation Alyssa suggested that we go back to the Broken Dagger for another drink. About half way there she remembered that she had to do something and had to run off. So Ereb and Vier'vyll continued on alone to the Broken Dagger where they talked about plans to head off the Waterdeep later on.
So that was my days adventure! A lot of fun and my PC didn't die :)
Ereb never did work out what Alssya did for a living. She seemed like a ranger of the woods at first. An Elf wielding a bow. But then under the temple she would be constantly disappearing, so Ereb assumed that she was some theif of somekind. But then later on to Ereb's amazment Alssya cast a healing spell on Ereb and Vier'vyll.
[Edit] So much for not dying. After I posted this Ereb wandered around a bit by himself. Killed a bear who was radding the berries in just one shot with his cross bow, which he was proud about. He was just heading up the paht that lead to the city of the undead when he was stopped by a band of adventures.
It had turned out that the seal on the city had broken and the undead were lose! Just then we were attacked by a swarm of undead, and Ereb, who was closest to them, turned undead - killing most of them and confusing the rest. They were quickly despatched off, and we headed off, to go inside the city its self to retreve a mace which could seal up the gates for ever.
On the way we faced a few more swarms of undead, including a group of wear rats and wolves. Then we came across Ereb's downfall. A large group of undead came to attack. Ereb, getting tired of staying back with his cross bow, races fowards to try turning undead.
Ereb was struck down by a group of undead, who quickly finished him off. In that same attack one of Ereb's companions, Dain Blackrock, a dwarf was also struck dead.
It was fun, but Ereb was really looking foward to visiting the grand city of Waterdeep with Vier'vyll.
Maybe after exams have finished I'll get another character going :)
[Edited yet again] We were revived :D
Just as I was about to log off, Ereb knelt down to pray to Kelemvor once more, and suddenly he appeared back in the Church of the Lathander, with Dain beside him. So now Ereb still might get a chance to visit the great city of Waterdeep.
*sighs*

Sir Belisarius Wed, 19th Nov '03, 3:04pm It flapped it’s mighty wings again as it began to circle over the wooden
grove. The sense of evil was so strong, it drew him like a beacon shooting
into the sky from within the forest. As the great beast continued to circle
as it cam lower to the ground, it began to scan the ground for prey…Or foes.
With a great thud, the dragon’s claws dug into the earth near the pile of
rubble. “I’ve not seen this before” It thought to itself as it warily
stalked across the green grass of the forest floor, sniffing this way and
that.
“An odd shrine for Evil…A pile of rubble?” The old dragon could sense
something else about the pile of stones, but the evil aura pervading the
heap overwhelmed anything else he could sense. “Perhaps this would be a
nice new location for my lair…” He thought as he began to edge nearer to the
grove. As he approached, he stopped short, catching a scent on the air.
“Humans…and others…” He snarled.
The old dragon moved away from the shrine to view the entrance to the grove.
Standing stoically, it’s green scales hiding him within the forest
perfectly, it waited. And watched. Amused, the dragon watched as a group
of adventurers stumbled into it’s path…One, a female, that smelled oddly of
dwarf, stopped short as it finally spied the immense beast’s form. The
Green chuckled to himself as the group ran off the way it came.
It occurred to the dragon that the party may be stronger than he, however improbable, and that
their sudden start had given him a chance to withdraw…With a roar, it leaped
into the air, spreading its mighty wings. As it skimmed through the forest
toward the exit, it spied a beast that would make a fitting meal…It’s claws
dug into the deer as it carried the woodland creature off to its lair. “I
must remember this place, it has promise…” It said as it flew away south.
**The beginning to an adventure last night...If you were there, you know what happened next...** ;)
Rotku Thu, 20th Nov '03, 9:21am Ereb and Vier'vyll went hunting again today, but unforinatly we both died :(
So now Rotku has ventured to the Waterdeep server for a bit of a change :D
Gothmog• Thu, 20th Nov '03, 2:53pm Rotku, rotku... you need to learn to survive !
I think i'm experienced enough by now not to just kill a char even the same day i make him :)
Himo is currently dead though  But he WILL live!! he must!
If you manage to die on the same day you created the char/next day, you have quite a lot to learn. Smart-playing that is. And ALFA requires a lot if it.
1: Constant vigilance
2: Always when you intend to kill a monster that you do not have to, ask yourself - is that baddie (x xp and some loot) worth of getting myself killed ??
3: Have luck. Lots of luck. Like Himo (he survived two direwolves twice ;) ). Unfortunately Beshaba smiled on him, becouse he's dead now... still.
BTW... lemme tell how he died.. He met a farmer who asked him to kill the Kobolds behind his farm. Himo's a good fella so he went there and did it. Came back, but the farmer said there are some left. He went back and started down some tunnel. On the end of it were 3 goblin thugs and 2 crossbowmen. He had 24hp and 22AC. He managed to kill three thugs, but another one came at him.
Here i broke one of my survival rules... i didnt run eventhough i was already down to injured. I thought... if i could get three thugs i can get this one too and those crossbowmen are easy anyway. Beeep! Wrong
In the next round he got shot and hit. 5 and 3 damage.. Getting me down to something like 6hp. Too late i tried to run away... another hit by a crossbow for 8 points :( Boom! dead!
The most unlucky part it that the kobos needed to roll natural 20 to hit me!
That means they had 5% to hit me twice! and yet they did... extrodinarily unlucky. But if i followed Himo's experiences (=run!), i'd still live.
For the third shot my dex AC got negated becouse i was running away... had 18 then... but the kobo still neede to roll 16 to hit. Of course he did
He'll probably get rezzed today
Sir Belisarius Thu, 20th Nov '03, 3:00pm I read on someone's signature line on the ALFA board one of the truest pearls of wisdom regarding 1st level:
"Any time you draw steel may be your last."
Frostbite Thu, 20th Nov '03, 4:13pm Ah! Bel. you have a good eye on what happens in ALFA. :( Could you Pm me stuff from the last 2 months. Just a simple news real. I'll try get online. But I cam't promise.
I heard Falling Leaf died. Kaali's still in the player vault, I know that.
Damnit, shes 4 months old, and hasn't been active for over half of that.
Rotku Thu, 20th Nov '03, 9:06pm Just log on Frosty, it's not hard to get rumors.
And Gothmog, I made Ereb about a month back, that you very much :p
Gothmog• Thu, 20th Nov '03, 9:45pm @Rotku
Just as Frosty said... made a long time ago, but being inactive for half that time.
I think i'm getting rezzed in 30 minutes or so... I'll update this once i get. i WILL get. Must.
BTW... you should all try some traveling. Across the servers i mean, not just in DD. Its not nearly as dangerous as you might have heard. Himo went from DD(Daggerdale) to Arabel and Northern Cormyr (two servers but tightly connected), and from Arabel to Shadowdale.
On the way i have encountered a hungry wolf(hp17) and a goblin warrior(lvl1 or 2). On the way to Arabel. Another time when i went again from Arabel to DD i met three hungry wolves.
The thing is that i must not kill them(i'm a druid after all). But they chased me all the same :( Used animal emphaty on one... he engaged in combat with the other two. Then i came to the next area, with the charmed one with me. The other two did not follow us. I released my wolf... and he attacked me :heh: . So i charmed him again and ordered him to stay where he is. And just before another AT i let him go.
Day is saved :)
You can also make a lot of money out of traveling. In arabel i found a mace and a short sword - both with extra damage. Like d6+1 bludgeoning and d6+1 piercing. In the shops you can buy these for nearly 700gp!
So now i'm selling for about 400gp. Himo likes gold btw ;)
EDIT: I LIVE!!!
Gold and fame and gold! I'm alive
*does a happy dance*

Frostbite Fri, 21st Nov '03, 8:06am Thats just the problem. I can't log on. My PC is cacked.
Sir Belisarius Fri, 21st Nov '03, 12:24pm What is "cacked?" That's a new one for me...
Gothmog• Fri, 21st Nov '03, 4:23pm hmm... did you save your char on your local disc?
or at least do you remember what xp&money did you have? and any important items too of course.
Then you could just ask Mem (got to be HDM) to purge your character vault. Then you create the same char with the same name.
DM gives you back your money, xp and any important items that you might have.
You even keep your journal logs if you make them. :)
Frostbite Fri, 21st Nov '03, 7:52pm cacked. excuse my homemade English there Bel.
It's buggered.
Anyway, I can access the player vault from a friends PC, but he doesn't have the .haks, so I can't actually play. So I know that my player vault has been cleaned out, but Kaali's still there last time I looked.
Blackthorne TA Sun, 23rd Nov '03, 12:01am Well, Hallen's dead again and I've told them not to bring him back.
Got killed at the undead battle around Teshmere... Just bad luck as usual.
Maneuverability at the gates of Teshmere was just too bad. Took level drain from some undead, then a Flesh Golem ported in and headed straight for me. I tried to run, but in the tight quarters I accidentally hit the AT and the golem followed me through. Took one hit immediately on the other side (+11 to hit with those guys; pretty much guaranteed to hit me) for 15 damage, and because of the level drain I had almost nothing left. Tried to keep running, but the golem caught me with an AOO, and I went straight to the fugue.
Hallen was pretty much the only reason I continued to play in ALFA, even as rarely as I did, so I doubt I'll be going back now that he's gone.
Sir Belisarius Sun, 23rd Nov '03, 2:34am NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Hallen's dead?!?!? That totally sucks!!! Dude, you gotta come back! We'll miss you!
Rotku Wed, 26th Nov '03, 6:17am Waterdeep is soo different to Dagger Dale. It's much less combat orientated and more RPing involved. It seems like just what I need. That way I don't get killed so often :D
The bigger player:DM ratio is great as well. But Tharag is soon planning to travel to Silverymoon, by ship.
Mesmero Wed, 26th Nov '03, 9:10am But Tharag is soon planning to travel to Silverymoon, by ship. If you travel there Friday or later, it will get you through Yartar. We currently have a 4:0 DM:player ratio, but we hope that will change once were Live on Friday :D .
But seriously, drop by if you have the time for it; it's a great place, and I'm not just saying that because I DM there ;) .
Rotku Wed, 26th Nov '03, 9:57pm It's not open yet? Then why is the boat place selling tickets to it? Strange
Nobleman Thu, 27th Nov '03, 10:00pm I enjoy reading these threads to remind me of how lucky I am to have my own pen and paper group :1eye:
No seriously, online NWN is getting pretty good actually, although I prefer servers that inspire and not require roleplaying.
Rotku Wed, 3rd Dec '03, 2:12am Tharag has started to explore the world! He's traveled over to Silverymoon, by boat. I've been there about a week now, and it's fun! They've even got a church of Cyric there, which Tharag is happy about. Next I'm off to Yartar, I think, before heading back home to Waterdeep, and then hopefully of to Buldar's Gate :D
Has anyone been to Yartar before? What can you tell me about it? I couldn't find much information on the ALFA forums, but from what I have found it seems to be a brand new, bug filled server. Oh, and is it possible to have more than one character, I mean, could I keep Tharag alive but at the same time play another character somewhere else?
Sir Belisarius Wed, 3rd Dec '03, 3:07am No, only one live character in ALFA at a time. Arwen, a former SP regular, is the mistress and HDM of Yartar. She's pretty cool, so if you go in, tell we said "Howdy!" Or "hi" ...Whichever you prefer.
Mesmero Wed, 3rd Dec '03, 12:42pm What can you tell me about it? Anything you wish to know (there is also some information in the Player Manual, and I hope the Yartar website goes up pretty soon). The city of Yartar is basically one of the most visited trading cities of the north, and probably one of the biggest cities in the Savage Frontier. Wealthy merchants visit Yartar, and a lot of other people stop there, on their way to Silverymoon or Waterdeep.
But there is more of course. In the south of the server, there is my jewel, called Beliard. It isn't exactly finished yet, but I'm working hard on it. It used to be inhabited by dwarves, but now humans moved in (there are however still a lot of dwarves walking around). Near Beliard is the Stone Bridge, one, if not the oldest dwarven engineering master pieces in the realms. Also, near Beliard are the ruins of the Halls of the Hunting Axe, a dwarven citadel many years ago, but now abandonned (and haunted  )
The Yartar server is filled with wilderness areas, like you should expect from the Savage Frontier. It is filled with dangerous beasts, who either plan to destroy the human civilisation by brute force, or by well thought of plans.
Besides that, there are two small towns where Waterdhavian stay, when they are on hunting trips, and of course Calling Horns, the place where men and dwarves defeated a large troll army.
from what I have found it seems to be a brand new, bug filled server We have recently gone Live, and there are probably a few bugs, but I guess there are in every server, even those who have been Live for much longer. We went Live, with more material and things built than the average server that went Live, but we're still trying to make Yartar the best place in ALFA.
Arwen has done a great job making a magnificent server, and with Capt. Tripps and me (and Xen Master of course) on her site, there is guaranteed fun for everybody who drops by.
/plug
Frostbite Wed, 3rd Dec '03, 1:44pm I'm reinstalling NWN! I'll be back!
Anyway, Kaali will return... eventually
The return of that chaotic good, elven Ranger/ Cleric of Corellon Larethian! (sp?) Level 2! I will hit level 3... eventually...
:D
Gothmog• Thu, 4th Dec '03, 12:29am Haha!
Himo took part in a big Northern Cormyr quest :D
Retrieving some items for Shifty from the Kobold cave. Found out there were orcs taking over kobold deepercaves. Himo stepped on some traps, got bitten by a wolf once but Yuki was always around so it was no biggie.
That is until we met the dragon !
The cool thing is that Slice(DM - disnt get his name for slicing up players ;) ) emulated the wind from the dragon wigs with Gust of Wind spell.
It was awsome... a roaring beast above you and you trying to stand on your feet, all the while shivering in fear.
Too bad the DC was only 16. Con save. But when the Dragon landed on us (ON us :) ) we all ran away immediately - fear DC 32!!! Next to impossible to save, and only possesing high-level character.
Himo finaly fulfilled his long-time wish... to see a dragon. Eventhough it was all black and evil :( .
Next week we're gonna slice it up :p
It had it all... Fun, fame, gold and xp.
Rotku Thu, 4th Dec '03, 5:45am Took a big part? Tharag also took a big part in a DM quest thing at Silverymoon.
He found an injured half elven lady while he was walking through the woods one day, and worked out that she was froma small elven village deep in the forest and had been attacked by werewolves.
Tharag took her to his temple, the temple of Cyric, to see what they could do. The head priest of the church prayed to Cyric for a few minutes before informing Tharag and Illana (the half elf) that Cyric would not help her because she does not worship him, and warned Tharag to be careful in his chose of what he does next.
Remembering the quote from Cyric's holy book thingy, "Any means or method is justified if it brings about the desired end." So Tharag decided to take her to another temple. On the way to the temple district (the Temple of Cyric is outside the temple district for certain reasons) Illana feel down and was surrounded by a pool of negitive engery. That soon cleared away and Tharag ended up carrying her to the nearest temple which happened to be a temple of Selune.
The priestess there said that she could cure Illana but Tharag'd need to collect 3 different sorts of herbs (Mandrake, Nightsglow and Thistledown). After a while Tharag decided to try the library place, where he learnt that a gnome who owned a potions shop, had a book which showed the herbs. Tharag quickly found the gnome and got the book, and I convinced him to give me a supply of Thistledown which he had in stock. Tharag also found out the rough location of the other two herbs, which where to be found in the forest.
Tharag decided that he shouldn't go into the forest alone at night, so he went to the local inn, where he met two people who he knew from before, a paladin of Tempus named Tayla, and an elven rouge. He ended up convincing them to help him find these herbs by promising Tayla some battle inside the woods and then saying the elf could have half the reward (which there was none, but he wasn't going to know that ;) )
Together we ventured into the dark dark forest, staying well away from any orc or wolf. After a while of searching they found a druid shrine with some druids around it. After a quick talk, Tharag learnt that the second herb, Mandrake, could be found by a river to the north-east of where they where. The adventures travelled up there without any thing happening, but upon arrival they met an elven ranger, who was standing over the Mandrake. The elven rouge in our party (who I later learnt was the leader of some band of mercenries) spoke to the ranger awhile, in some elven language, which Tharag couldn't understand. The elven ranger ended up giving us the Mandrake and telling us that the Nightglow could only be found in a hill giant cave to the north.
After a quick rest, Tharag and his two companions were quickly up again and in search of the cave. Unfortunatly for them, the hill giant found them before they found the cave. Tharag managed to convince it not to eat them, and it agreed to help them in return for a favour.
It lead Tharag and them to it's cave, where it told them that it was bored and needed some entertainment, and that if they killed the orc it was holding prisoner, he would help them. Tharag, been a quick minded priest with a dislike for the elf who was travelling with him, suggested the elf play his panpipes to entertain the giant. The elf ended up been hopeless at playing the panpipes and hurt the hill giants ears. Running out of options, Tharag was just about to agree to fight the orc, when Tayla suggested they play a game. The giant liked this idea and asked Tayla to explain how it was played. It was a simple game, she said. The giant had to hide and then we'd come find him, and then it was his turn. The giant quickly ran off to hide, and so our search began for the herb.
The elf quickly found it and then they ran for our lives. Right through the forest they ran, right through a pack of wolves, while all the time they could hear the *thump thump* of the giant running behind them. About half way out of the forest, Tayla tripped and twisted her ankle. A quick healing spell took care of that and they where off again. Emerging from the forest, Tharag and the elf could no longer stand the running, and fell down upon the ground. Tayla raced off to get a gaurd to help us, and quickly returned with one. Together they crawled their way back inside the city gates, where Tharag, while trying to catch his breath, informed the gaurd that a hill giant was heading towards the city. The gaurd told his captain, who sent a squad of soldiers out to "deal with the giant".
Meanwhile, Tharag told Tayla to take the herbs back to the temple so that Illana could be cured. She reluctantly agreed to that, and left her armor with Tharag so that she could run faster.
After a short while the squad of gaurds came back victorious, with only a few lost limbs. The elf and Tharag then decided to crawl there way to see Tayla and Illana. They ended up meeting half way to the temple, where Illana told us that she was better but needed sleep. Tayla said that she also had to rest so together they went to the inn, forgetting Tayla's armor. The elf then asked for his share of the non-existant reward, and Tharag handed him over the left over the remainder of the herbs, while laughing. The elf then stormed off, saying that he had found some gold in the giants cave and was going to keep it as a reward.
Tharag then headed off to the docks, as he had promised himself that he would head off to Yartar once he had helped Illana. On the way there he remembered that he still had Tayla's armor and sat down in thought. He couldn't decdie whether he should take the armor and leave, or wait around and give it to her, as she did help a lot.
And that's where I an now. Thinking about whether to go or leave. And Tharag is only 20xp away from becoming my first character to get up to level 2.
Frostbite Sat, 6th Dec '03, 8:10pm Nwn. Check!
SoU. Check!
All needed .hak files. Check!
okay :D
Now I just need to update, and then downdate to the correct version and I'm ready to go :)
Rotku Sun, 7th Dec '03, 4:27am Welcome back to ALFA then!
I've got a new character just started in Daggerdales, as Tharag had an unfortunate accident just after he got up to second level, and became my very first post-level-one character.
My new character's name is Mr Thel, any more information on him can be found out by meeting him, possibably :p
Frostbite Sun, 7th Dec '03, 7:47pm Kaali lives!
*cries for joy*
I need to make new friends... Then I'll start trying to make a name for myself ^_^
Gothmog• Mon, 8th Dec '03, 4:01pm Welcome back Frosty :D
Rotku - try more running ;)
I'm taking a break from ALFA. Playing HotU instead. It'll be implemented in ALFA in about march i hear. Not certain though. But it most surely will be.
Sir Belisarius Mon, 8th Dec '03, 4:07pm I saw Kaali the other day in game...Always good to see a familiar face! Welcome back!
Now we just need to get BTA and Mathetais back into it!
Gothmog• Mon, 8th Dec '03, 6:59pm I wasnt up for the last 3 days... and i dont expect to be for some while still.
I have lots of exams (Its already past end of this semester dammit! :flame: )
Plus i'm trying out HotU  (no spilers)
Frostbite Wed, 10th Dec '03, 9:21am Pretty boring round the dales, but I fancy staying around rather then travelling to a new server. Heard tell of Gnolls... a gnoll invasion? Ooo, sounds like a good place to put my ol' ranger skills to the task.
::cries for joy::
I finally got enough gold to buy the magical RANGER ARMOUR! yeah! Unfortunately, I am now broke. No chance of spawning some zombies on me again Bel? But this time with plenty of gold on them? :D
I have a ton of new friends to make though, the few people I've seen online who I can remember are Sulak and Arien. Glad to see those two are still around.
Gothmog• Wed, 10th Dec '03, 5:03pm I'll get back to ALFA in monday probably - also making it to the Springs meeting. And coming to DD to meet Zarjazz's and Frosty's new character, as well as meeting up with fellow (and probably the only founding one left) The Unwanted member - Sulak.
I hear he recruited a new fella in the party... Fritz iirc.
We're also recruiting other members! See Himo or Sulak if youre interested! :thumb:
details IC of course. Actualy it has no other limitations than to be accepted by all other Unwanted members :)
Rotku Wed, 10th Dec '03, 10:00pm My latest character had an unfortunate run in with some wolves :(
Critical hit = instant death
Now I'm trying to work out what type of character I should try next, and where abouts I should go...
Frostbite Fri, 12th Dec '03, 1:52pm :D Himo... I'm interesting in joining a faction or group of some kind, it'd be a good way to get to known new people and travel around. I'm in the same time zone as you I guess, and Sulak is nearly always on when I am.
I'm about to hit level 3, but I haven't done any exp gaining runs in some time. So I'll cling to level 2 for a while yet. There's usually only about 4 people online, then I log off, and forget to come back :( Some motivation would be great.
Anyway, a level 2 Ranger/Cleric of Corellon, I finally managed to buy the expensive magical ranger armour +1 :D go me! *is now broke*
Gothmog• Fri, 12th Dec '03, 6:53pm Thats cool!
Be around in monday and tuesday. I'm sure we'll met then, couse Himo and Sulak will be looking for my lost stuff. :)
Edit: Sulak most likely wont be around :( . Bad, bad job.

Sir Belisarius Sat, 13th Dec '03, 7:47pm Your gear is ready...You just need to come and claim it
Rotku Mon, 15th Dec '03, 4:25am Rotku fell down to the level of an ADM, tonight. So he is now a ADM of the Pirate Ilse, which he recomend everyone here coming to as soon as possible!
Mesmero Mon, 15th Dec '03, 10:40am Rotku fell down to the level of an ADM Fell down? That's a promotion! Pirate Isles is still in Beta, right? I might check it out, if I have the time.
Frostbite Mon, 15th Dec '03, 7:53pm Hmm, when (hopefully not for a long time) Kalli kicks the bucket, I'm thinking of trying another server. :D
For some reason I tried to travel to the desert with some friends, but my internet wasn't being agreeable. Server switch doesn't like me. Bel, you're stuck with a weird elven lass for a while longer at least ;)
I'll got onto ALFA later, and see of Gothmogs there :D
Gothmog• Sat, 20th Dec '03, 4:21pm Hehe, Himo just killed his first two orcs
At level 3 already. Two orc grunts firing their arrows quite skillfuly (+5 to attack), but they were no match for Himo. He didnt even get hurt at all :)
fade Sat, 20th Dec '03, 5:10pm Harente has already fought orc and survived, and he is level 1. Me and two companions cleared out that area easily enough, none of us got hit. So far Herente has met two good companions and two good guides. One is Arctos BearBrother. And he is a good man, we did a kobold cave with him, and he showed us around the Dale. The other one was Glorfindel(sp?) an elven fighter/cleric. He helped me with my first static quest.
On another note I am a powergamer. :-( Already almost half way to level two and I just started that character. Just to let you thick golf out there know I wasn't actually powergamer, me and my companion are trying to gather up some gold. Glorfindel said he had a short sword to sell me, so I need to get the lotta gold required to buy that. Ah well, a mercenary is always in need of gold right?
Frostbite Sat, 20th Dec '03, 11:56pm These orcs that Gothmog means, they are NC orcs. Nasty buggers if ever there were.
Insanely fun over the last few days, Himo and Kaali have taken a field trip to NC, and what is the first thing that happens once we arrive. We're ported over to help a group of high levels with a DM quest.
Eventually, I find my level 2 ranger/cleric leading the whole party, as we track some cart tracks into the graveyard.
the final battle... guess whos the first and only to fall, yours truely. I'll add a better account later.
I've found were all the old DD people I used to know are hiding, Yuki and Voran.
Anyway, Himo and me are returning to DD on monday, Druid meeting that I'm going to with Himo.
As much as I love DD, NC is growing on me...
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Sun, 21st Dec '03, 2:23am Northern Cormyr and Arabel City are a lot of fun :) It's been a long time since I've been, so I might head down there on my way back to the swamp.
Yeah, the Orcs of Cormyr are a bit tougher than your run-of-the-mill orc. Of course, Grunts are just the garden variety in Cormyr. Bravehearts and Champions on the other hand....
Gothmog• Sun, 21st Dec '03, 10:15am In the last few days the whole east side of Northern Cormyr has been changed. And for the whole lot better too. Escpecialy the lake, with a fine sandy beach. When Himo walked into it he could almost dive beneath. (and you can walk all across it).
We could have a beach party there sometime :D
Ah, and Bravehearts and Champions
I went to their place with a lvl8 cleric - Thamier. (a good fella). And they were very... excited to see us. hehe
We did have a problem though... those big nasties must have at least 40 hit points... and if you get hit by that big axe of theirs you might not survive even one blow.
Himo kinda liked one perticiular fight... an Orc shaman summoned a badger. Himo caught it with Animal Emphaty and together we beat the stupid shaman down, and then another grunt. The bagder was near death, so Himo told him to wait on some spot, while he strode off and released him when he was far away. (He's a druid) ;)
Frostbite Sun, 21st Dec '03, 3:08pm You know that wolf that Himo charmed last night...
I wasn't looking where I was going and it ran into me o_O. Kaali has nasty wolf tooth size holes in her armour now. Still in one piece though...
Hit level 2 again last night. ;)
Gothmog• Sun, 21st Dec '03, 9:12pm
Himo's stuck in Arabel City. Character vault is down so i cant get on it :(
And he just did a very dangerous mission... Scouting the dangerous orc infested woods of Hullack forest and reporting back - alive. ;)
He did it and he wants to report
fade Sun, 21st Dec '03, 9:33pm Just say one of his boots fell off and he is looking for it.
Btw Harente died :-( I could of survived, but I didn't want to abandon my companion, but oh well, such is life.
Frostbite Mon, 22nd Dec '03, 7:11pm Ah HA! I wondered why I couldn't get into Arabel...
*scowl*
Hmmm, I miss my cleric spells...
Gothmog• Wed, 24th Dec '03, 5:04pm Damn... i twisted my ankle
Next gux will probably be an eastern samurai who's disgusted by the weaknes of human flesh.
Will probably willingly be infected with lycanthrophy :)
Or something similiar at least
I hope DMs can do anything like that.
Mesmero Wed, 24th Dec '03, 6:35pm Gothmog, theoratically, it can be done; it just isn't allowed. The rules clearly say that no player is allowed to play with a werebeast, or something like a vampire, a lich or a half-dragon. I doubt there will be any exceptions, because if one person is allowed to, the next thing you will see is that everybody is affected with lycanthrophy.
Gothmog• Wed, 24th Dec '03, 8:02pm Damn there goes my 1/3baalor 1/3 tanar'ri 1/3 dragon Epic level fighter10/wizard20/rogue10 dual-wielding two greatswords and being undead, werebeast and a chosen by Mystra that can only be damaged at exactly 24.00 :shake: :shake:
Frostbite Wed, 24th Dec '03, 8:52pm Perhaps you can bribe Bel :p
Hmm, would it be a possible to have a DM quest with a PC getting a were-disease? Like how some people like their high level characters to go out with a bang.
I can imagine a great DM quest...
Muumli, the Wayfarer Fri, 26th Dec '03, 8:29pm Oh dear, I've got seven days. And I just started. Who would have thought I'd encounter a sword spider in the Dagger Hills tile 2010 and try and run, but die smack dab in the middle of the area? on the second tier, near the western side? I never saw it coming.
On an unrelated note, how do I do this death thing. I died, went to the place-of-death, and then signed off, and now im here. If I get ressurected  , how will I know? Will I log on and find my character in some temple or something?
Gothmog• Fri, 26th Dec '03, 8:47pm dont worry, dont worry... you surely wont get ressurected (rezzed) ;) :(
Few lvl1 get rezzed anyway. Either you need lots of cash 1600gp+, have lots of friends willing to give the gold for you or have a mighty cleric find your corpse (and still have 500gp to pay up).
And btw... Dagger hills arent a suitable place to go wandering with a lvl1 char.
Go into the city and try a static quest. If you dont know where it is, just ask around... your char doesnt know that anyway.
ah, travel around with other folks. Way safer ;)
Muumli, the Wayfarer Fri, 26th Dec '03, 8:58pm Oh, right, heh heh, I forgot about that whole thing of money and ressurection. Oh well, it's my fault for Animal Empathy-ing a Worg to my aid, then casting sleep on the Worg and Sword Spider entangled in combat. Not like he had a chance, anyway.
Gothmog• Fri, 26th Dec '03, 9:04pm oh, boy... i have a feeling you're gonna lose a few characters yet :p
A lvl1 taking on a Worg and a Sword spider  . Even if its a druid ;)
As i said... doing statics is a nice way to level to 2nd level. Not exactly enough but at least you get a feeling what your guy can do and what not :)
Frostbite Fri, 26th Dec '03, 11:16pm Rest in peace Kaali... or pieces. Orcs can be cruel you know. How was I to know that there'd be 4 grunts and a shaman right beside the AT?
:D
Now, we have Azira, a druid. I've missed playing a druid, and my hawk friend Kardinal. I can't stand it when people take tanking companions, like dire wolves, bears and such. Sometimes they just use them for tanking tough enemies. :(
Kardinal rocks anyway, you can take hawks everwhere, perch them on your shoulder and all that.
And on a side note, I didn't know hawks got disarm! Must have been something in the SoU upgrade, haven't played a druid since then. Perhaps I'll come back to DD for old times sake. Say hello to Bel, get undead spawned on me, yeah fun.
:p
NC is such a vast server though, huge areas and all that. I guess I'm too used to DD size areas. Bah, I'll return to DD, about level 2 or 3 probably.
Capt. Tripps Sun, 28th Dec '03, 12:33pm Well Trog the Troll is beginning to think he's be had. He bought a bridge from this Gnome; Seebo, Bringer of Gond's Wonders at Resonable Prices, just outside of the town of Yartar and has just had the worst luck. The first customer shoot arrows at him until he had to swat him and then the 2 next customers seeemed to want to walk all the way upstream and go around the bridge. He's only charging a small price; 1 Greenstone or 3 gps but nobody wants to deal with him. Does anyone have a plan on how a young troll can get into the market today?
Frostbite Sun, 28th Dec '03, 8:54pm *Cries* I step on an At to go onwards, and a goblin elite, a goblin shaman, and 2 regulars are right on the other side.
I've stabalized at -7... *big deep breathes*
I can't die! I'm a witness for an attempted murder...
Somehow. I wind up getting myself as a character in a murder interrogation. -_- And then I half die.
Life is cruel.
Muumli, the Wayfarer Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 5:24pm Wow, that was exciting. DD ant colony, southern door in the first area. I found the body of my comrade, Ewryn Dundragon, in a heap next to the gaping hole that led deeper into the caverns. Kneeling, I spoke some blessings over him, and standing up, I passed through the door seeking ants. I went not ten feet through that door when I realized that I should honor the dead before seeking the blood of the living so, turning, I returned throught the door(AT, i think you guys call it) and I hadn't so much as loaded the area when two Guardians struck me down (I loaded so close to them, they both got aoo's on me instantly, that's 18 damage, I was at -9, and I stabilized immediately). I was dead within the hour. But the beasts vanished as soon as I fell unconscious. Strange. Turns out the owner of the late Ewryn Dundragon died in the same way. Stranger.
Yeah, so I tried to speak to a DM about this...but there are none. No worries though, I jimmied my way into Waterdeep to speak to someone, and Imanujakku gave me residence. I'll return to the Dale one day...I just hope the Dale will be waiting...
Frostbite Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 8:15pm you and me two, Run. DD better still be there when I decide to go there with Azzy, or Azira as most people know here.
Hmm, Azira just hit level 2 earlier this morning, :D Her and Kardinal might head over to DD some time.
Gothmog• Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 8:49pm Himo's return to Cormyr after a few I weeks of absence :)
Nothing spectacular at all. It was night all the time and i just talked to some folks, mostly Voran.
Oh, and i'll level to 4th level in 38xp :)
fade Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 11:43pm Valawyn been tearing stuff a new on in Shadowdale, hit level two a week ago and now almost half-way to three. Also dropped by VoLV to pick up a new bow. :-D
Gothmog• Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 3:07pm Himo leveled.
Himo died.
Himo doesnt like big orcs wielding big axes. Especialy when they roll natural 20. Seems his luck ran out.
fade Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 7:12pm Start is Shadowdale then :-D
Valawyn is having much fun there.

Gothmog• Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 10:26pm Oh, i dont think so :shake:
NC is much, much fun. There are a lot of active DMs a few even euro-friendly so there's something going on all the time.
I've decided on my next char. A monk, dedicated to his pursuit of perfection. Now i have to read something about Kara-Tur so i can create a great background for him
Frostbite Sun, 4th Jan '04, 12:00pm Woop! Come back to good ol' Frosty in NC. Hmm, Gothmog, we'll have to travel over to DD some time to see what chaos Bel is playing at :D
zarjazz Sun, 4th Jan '04, 7:35pm Himo leveled.
Himo died.
Himo doesnt like big orcs wielding big axes. Especialy when they roll natural 20. Seems his luck ran out. Sad to hear it.. But I never did thing you would
get Himo rezzed after the debackle on SD..
Hope you new char is as fun as the last...
Gothmog• Sun, 4th Jan '04, 10:24pm Well, he was a great guy.. bit little but still great :)
As for this one i have now... He's fun but i dont think he'll last long. First off he's a lvl1 monk. And they usually dont live long. *shrugs*
Glad to see you in here Zar!
You're still playing Lathander-guy on DD?
Frostbite Mon, 5th Jan '04, 8:56am Bah, all this ALFA crap with servers going, I read somewhere that NC/AC was moving out of ALFA too :( just never gonna be the same.
*thinks of the servers that she never got a chance to play on*
:(
Gothmog• Thu, 15th Jan '04, 6:20pm HAHA!
Today i have officialy joined the Dark Side  :spin: :rolling:
As an ADM for NC
I just have to get HotU tomorrow and then the Orc bloody huge massacre will occur on NC. By a zombie lvl40 Himo Heian  :flaming:
Come and visit us there sometime :thumb:
Frostbite Fri, 16th Jan '04, 9:24pm Okay, then, I'll forget about my evil drow, and bring Azira back :D ahh, you would slaughter a poor defensless half elven lass now would you?
I tried to save your halfling sized ass once, and what did I ever get out of it?
Gothmog• Fri, 16th Jan '04, 10:36pm Nah, nah i wont kill you... personaly. I heard you get all sorts of trouble for pressing "Kill Player" button. So i'll rather deploy a more subtle tactics.... like saying its a storm and casting "Call Lightning" as a lvl15 druid on you :D
Come with your evil drowishes to the lands of Cormyr. You might even get a black dragon as a pet... or she might get you? :p
It would be nifty to have/be such a pet, eh?
Eventhough i got HotU, Vault is currently down and it will be brought up in 12 to 72 hours. So thats when the fun begins :)
The Kilted Crusader Fri, 16th Jan '04, 10:48pm Is everything still down? Is all access denied to the player vault , do you know?
Gothmog• Fri, 16th Jan '04, 11:07pm Hey, if you can come on NC right now.
Its local Vault allowed = you can bring in any char you played (and is saved on your HD).
I'm loggin in right about now :)
Of course when the vault comes back up, this new char XP and loot will be gone. But its fun anyway :D
EDIT: Naah, i couldnt login... some other Haks needed. :(
says it'll take 40min
[ January 16, 2004, 23:18: Message edited by: Gothmog4230 ]
The Kilted Crusader Fri, 16th Jan '04, 11:22pm It's just that when I try to log in (on the member login thing on the Alfa front page) I get Access Denied coming up.
Is there a time limit to start playing before you're membership is revoked?
Gothmog• Fri, 16th Jan '04, 11:39pm Well, inactive players have been removed couple of times. Player Purges.
Its probably that.
There's really nothing you can do, except apply again and add that you were already a member, but couldnt play before, couse you didnt have HotU.
Well, at least you'll come to see real ALFA not a playground as it is now :)
Rotku Fri, 16th Jan '04, 11:56pm The Vault is still down, due to some hard waer problems when moving it. No one has any idea yet when it will be back up, but there are always the Beta Servers to play on.
From a quick conversation with someone, about the problems it sounds like a small thing, which can easily be fixed.
<Rotku> What's happened with the Vault? I thought it was only going to take about 6 hours to move, and that was two days ago
<Baalster> It's rather amusing .. we're waiting for someone to eject a CD ...
<Rotku> ...interesting
<Baalster> indeed. And then some network config (as root) before our AFS team gets to install and configure it. 2-3 hours once the CD is ejected and the network is configured.
That's about all I know of it, so it shouldn't be long, hopefully.
fade Sat, 17th Jan '04, 12:43am Lol, waiting for someone to eject a cd?
On the other hand *sigh*
I need to make my red wizard again, and will have lost the 350 or so gold I have made in Selgaunt :-(
Frostbite Sat, 17th Jan '04, 1:26pm Where can we get the haks from? I have no idea :(
Gothmog• Sat, 17th Jan '04, 2:07pm Hehe, i DMed for the first time today :D
And killed my first PC as well. He was lvl9 and i set bodak(CR15) on him. He could defeat him, if he only made his save - but he didnt = instant death.
NC these days is a complete playground! As soon as you start you can lvlup to 9th level! And then take revenge on some mosters for killing you're old characters&whatever. Rampage :)
Ah, Vault... yesterday i heard it'll be back up in 12-72 hours. So rampage time is running out fast
As for Haks.. i got them from a DMsite - faster.
This is posted on the boards however:
There is an error in the HOTU 2da file. Please do not download from previously announced mirrors until Murky gives the 'all fixed' signal. If you have downloaded, you will need to redownload. It is only 295kb and should not present a problem to redownload. Until the rest of the mirrors are fixed, the ONLY places to download the 2da file from are:

Frostbite Sat, 17th Jan '04, 6:11pm *_*
I need to get my drow shifter on there quick!
Blackthorne TA Sat, 17th Jan '04, 8:58pm Why would you set a CR 15 monster on a single level 9 PC, especially one that has an instant death attack? Pretty cheap IMO.
Gothmog• Sun, 18th Jan '04, 2:01am *shrugs* I was trying to figure out what all can he beat. And i didnt know Bodak has death ability.
Anyway today was quite awsome. Having around 6 characters (all lvl 15+) running around in the dungeon. Nasty thing is that they enter the dungeon, i run a full circle around it setting encounters, traps and loot, and then they walk through one room, find a ladder upwards (with a trap hehe) and go up. So there i go again running around placing stuff.
It was all cool, while i only had Frosty and Jaxtor(iirc he's jaxtor). All i had to do is run ahead, place some stuff and posses some monsters. But when a lot of players came by, time started running very short. There was a Velsharoon priest, who'll attack the party for looting/escaping the tomb, a n00b ALFAn asking questions and a party to guide (which was luckily quite buisy with their own members). Well, i think we had much fun anyway :)
BTW, Shifter is really cool!
Especialy when char is just rezzed, without all items and must retrieve his stuff from a dozen mummies ;)
But regular ALFA with nice low-levels and a good story behind every quest is much better.
Rotku Sun, 18th Jan '04, 6:27am Aye, it's great fun with low levels adn a good story. Although every now and then one needs to throw some fun monsters at a high level character, just to get a change. Or of course have the monsters thrown at him, which is also fun.
Oh, on a side note, ALFA Live Vault should be up by this time tomorrow, if not before hand.
fade Sun, 18th Jan '04, 5:31pm @BTA Vault will get resest again anyways so it doesn't really matter.
*note to self* Do not go to NC
And I get to remake my Red Wizard again, woot. Drokkar is giving back XP and gold that was recieved during his wensday campain too.
Frostbite Sun, 18th Jan '04, 5:48pm Gothy! Don't forget about our own little traitor.
From my own character, Darkfyre the drow - (glossed over though. My fingers are freezing and typing is a pain)
Darkfyre the drow befriended Jax, the very very cool halfling, together, we were doing great, until that is, we headed up gothys bedamned ladder. In the name of the underdark! How many mummies did you spawn on us? After we came back, much fun was ot be had, as it seemed that someone must've followed us up, and also gotten killed by our mummies, we continued to loot their stuff along with organizing our own.
On the way up, we met another adventurer, dwarven by the looks of it, claimed he was looking for some guy or other. At this point Darkie wasn't really concentrating, her mino form was more eager to sniff out undead then lsten to small folk talking. The dwarf ran off, we followed, andm much to Darkie's joy we met lots and lots of skeletons, so Fyre was happy to cleave those up for a while. We rescued the dwarfs friend, but he ran off afterwards *sigh* thats human gratitude for you.
After that, the terrible two met up with another halfling, a nasty piece of work he was, Darkie didn't like him at all. Jax was okay with him, but he hated Jax by the looks of it. Bah, next thing he does? Turn invisble on us and run. Darkie and Jax weren't having any of this now. A few words, and Darkie was shifted into a huge drider, and Jax used some of his magical gems to see through the halflings trickery.
Small folk *rolls eyes* All we wanted to do was to ask him if he wanted to team up to get out of this dark bedamned pit. Eventually, after much running around, Darkie the drider cornered the little bugger. And then, he had the indignity to try stick me with his knife. Now, Fyre wanted none of this at all. Jax was inclined to agree. We decided dead people didn't ned their stuff, and carried on, a lot more richer then before.
Now, up onto teh third level, by this time Darkie was running low on shifts. But as luck should have it, we met with another two adventurers, Bekka and Hart (ALFA'n newb) The larger party continued on. blah blah blah
Interesting bit, and pretty close to where my story ends -
A drow male appears from no where (PC) So... well, Fyre decides to call him "male" not a good idea on her own part really, so inter party relationships get off to a bad start. then Hart tried to pick pocket him while we were arguing. Not good! Hart escaped nearly unscathed, but the drow male wasn't a happy bunny. Anyway, a few minutes later through the dingy corridors... and bloody mummies. Everywhere! Darkie chops a few up, but has to retreat blah blah blah long boring fight.
Hart and the drow male dispeaed off round the corner, so Darkfyre followed. And what should she see! But the drow male bringing the halfling within an inch of his life with one of his Banite spells. Darkie sticks up for the little guy, and the drow plays innocent. But anyway, everyone sided with me, and I resulted it getting blown away by onw of his spells :( Had to log off after that.
Great fun though, last night darkie was 6druid/7shifter :( he was 20 cleric.
But I made a script this morning for leveling up and shoved it into my toolset, so now... 10/10 druid shifter!
:D Ready to exact some wrath, and looking forward for some more fun tonight.
Gothmog• Tue, 20th Jan '04, 4:13pm Yee, i'm back to online world
Sunday night our electrician's were playing around. Shutting it down... and release it for a second and again and again. I pulled the plug out, but seems it was too late. My modem got burned :(
So i had to wait, and 5min ago i finaly got one :)
BACK! :D
Frostbite Tue, 20th Jan '04, 7:20pm :( Azira died evil lag death, so I maintain my amazing ability to not get a character above level 2. Hopefully Thari will do better
@Gothmog :p Empty your PM inbox out, its full.
Gothmog• Tue, 20th Jan '04, 9:43pm LOL today was a great day.
Basicaly Hignar and Voran badly cheated a poor Ettin he was left in the end with 15gp instead of hundreds if he sold everything. Bad, bad people. But they did make him a king too.
Cand post today, but i'll edit the whole thing tomorrow.
@Frosty
PMbox emptied :)
Tell me something about the new knockdown&toughness 1xp, 10hp 14, 13, 13, 10, x, y druid Thari. :)
Might make some action for ya to stop dying at lvl1... at least you'll die lvl2 ;)
Frostbite Thu, 22nd Jan '04, 11:16am :D still got my amazing 1 exp three days after creation, yes, I haven't killed a thing :D Voran was telling me about the ettin :)
fade Sat, 24th Jan '04, 10:59pm Kric Bendt reign of terror is continuing!
Me and some crazy gnome barbarian(my roommate) are tearing through Selgaunt. Give it a tenday or two and the entire city will be OURS.
Umm, yea, more like doing DM quests and trying to find a red robe.
Btw, anyone here interested in playing an evil cleric? We need healing :D
Frostbite Sun, 25th Jan '04, 3:36pm Bah, my roleplaying ALFA abilities have gone way way way dorwn hill since the death of my beloved druid, Taemarya. Now a days my characters tend to last for neigh on a week (or less - more often then not less)
Check this out - Never ever hit level 3 on any of my 20 odd characters, :( at least I could hit level 2 on DD, or, I did at least twice.
I have a vault clean out a few days about 3-4 days ago, blah, already two dead characters in it.
:(
eh. Ignore me, I'm just being depressive.
Gothmog• Sun, 25th Jan '04, 7:14pm Make a wizard with 2hp and live for a month, while actively playing every day or so. :)
Rotku Sun, 25th Jan '04, 9:29pm I only got one character to level 2 out of my 20 odd characters, let alone level 3! But then I was exceptionally terrible at keeping characters alive *shrugs*
You'll eventually find a character you like and keep it alive.
Prehaps try a new server or something if you can't keep a character alive on that one. Waterdeep is a great place if you're looking for a change.
fade Sun, 25th Jan '04, 11:07pm Maybe I am just luckey. My second PC hit level 3, and my newest one just hit two.
Psst, start a character on Selgaunt, you will have fun. . .I promise.
Rotku Mon, 26th Jan '04, 8:25am We've hopefully got a ship to ship combat session coming up this tuesday, at 11pm GMT, in TPIs. Come along if you want, it's open to everyone! There's more info about it posted on the ALFA boards.
Frostbite Mon, 26th Jan '04, 11:47am Ooo, I have a new character, Tris :D
She might travel more then my others, as long as Gothmog doesn't kill me first ¬_¬
Shes a fighter, how evil will it be to not play a healer character
Muumli, the Wayfarer Mon, 26th Jan '04, 6:11pm Im not missing anything, am i? ALFA is still down, yes? I tried to download the hakpacks from an earlier post, but the links were broken. I feel so disconnected!
Frostbite Mon, 26th Jan '04, 6:33pm nope, ALFA is up, and has been so for a while.
Gothmog• Mon, 26th Jan '04, 8:15pm Just take a look at the ALFA community boards, and you'll find the haks download pages in no time.
Yeah, everything is back to normal. Good old ALFA :)
Except that quite a few servers have disapeared. Ah, well at least we who remain get more players :)
Rotku Mon, 26th Jan '04, 8:58pm Apart from the fact that some of the players have disappeared with the servers :(
Frostbite Tue, 27th Jan '04, 12:32pm Hmm, I haven't seen Anysha in a long time, does she still play any more?
On a side note; WooP! 59 experience *cheers* Largest amount I've had in a long time.
Gothmog• Tue, 27th Jan '04, 4:09pm I heard Anysha (raindrop whas it?) character is well and all, but the player aint nowhere to be found.
Ah, well we can live without a lvl14 sorceress, right? :)
I'll go and make some adjustments to the Eastgate and Beyond area :)
fade Wed, 28th Jan '04, 6:58am Well my gnomish companion died due to some wierd flying bug in Selgaunt. It looked like he was 30ft in the air, and he couldn;t see his enemies to attack them. Luckily Drokkar had seens its likes before and gave him a full rezz/rebuild. Though after that drokkar continued on his quest to build a home for them pansy elves in Selgaunt. Sums uo my adventures tonight.
Frostbite Wed, 28th Jan '04, 11:51am Oh? alterations to the eastgate area :p Nothing too nasty I hope.
Oh, well, Triskaar is well enough, with her 59 experience. :D
The Kilted Crusader Wed, 28th Jan '04, 12:36pm I t looks like I've been accepted into ALFA (Yay). There are enough of these Haks to download though, do I have to get them all, or is there just a specific one?
Muumli, the Wayfarer Wed, 28th Jan '04, 2:45pm Get them all, plus the HotU ones in the forums. You need the old ones still because some servers (most, I would think) still use stuff from them.
The Kilted Crusader Wed, 28th Jan '04, 4:22pm Its a lot to download (I'm not actually sure that I'll bother now I've found out!), BTW is there anything I can download which can save a hak half way through, incase my comp craqshes or anything?
Gothmog• Wed, 28th Jan '04, 7:08pm You do not have a broadband?
You dont need it to play (there is one DM on dial-up), but the haks sure are nasty to get then.
I use FlashGet (http://www.amazesoft.com/download.htm), and it does go a bit faster.
Otherwise there was some talk of all the haks on a CD iirc. Not totaly sure though.
fade Wed, 28th Jan '04, 7:19pm You can get the hak from people on CD, for no cost to you. If you are willing to give your address, they will ship one to you.
Check out this if you want them mailed to you. (http://desperado.homelinux.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=403)
The Kilted Crusader Wed, 28th Jan '04, 8:45pm Thanks for the links, very much appreciated :thumb: .
I'm afraid I don't have broadband, but give it a couple of months, and the area will.
Muumli, the Wayfarer Wed, 28th Jan '04, 11:02pm Hmm, the ALFA homepage no longer lists IPs for the servers, and I cannot seem to find Pirate Isles, even though the ALFA page says it is up. I installed the HotU haks contrary to instructions, having installed and updated before getting the haks, but I was on Pirate Isles last night, and it was fine. Is it me? Is it the ALFA hompage? Is there some place to get the IPs? I tried to resign up to the boards, but I got an acceptance email message, and that means I have to try again later because they aren't sending them out. Help Me!
Rotku Thu, 29th Jan '04, 2:57am The ALFA home page is way out of date, due to the admin problem. If you want to find out the different servers go into NWN, multiplayer, join internet game, PW Story, and then it should be under ALFA - server name.
fade Fri, 30th Jan '04, 7:36am Well Kric just got to level three, and a oh-so-friendly pc inquire if I could get him some nice drugs to enchant someone. Of course I said I would look into it and got 100 gold to keep my mouth shut. Things are looking up being the only Red Wizard PC, until I relieze that the competition(Iron Throne) has about 7 or 8 pc members. *sigh* Time to go recruit.
Anyone interested in playing a Thayian? Don't have to be a wizard, could be a brute. ;)
Rotku Fri, 30th Jan '04, 8:31am You coud always just kill the compitition off, that way you'll remain the only RW ;)
Gothmog• Fri, 30th Jan '04, 8:40pm Hehe, i've been messing around with Toolset for the last few days.
-A new Inn and a merchant in the Eastgate and Beyond
-A bit prettier Eastgate&Beyond
-Pul's kobold cave under Immerflow
-Bandit hideout and group
- Goblin Worg Rider
You'll be sure to be seeing these riders lots of times! tehehehe, CR5 and cant run away because they're too fast!
Scary guys!
fade Fri, 30th Jan '04, 10:00pm There needs to be a random chance for the warg to eat the golbon and run away, just to make it accurate you know.
Still waiting for Selgaunt to go up, if it doesn't soon I will probaly get on NC and chat with people through tell while and chill in Q. Least none of you warg riders can try and kill me there. ;)
Gothmog• Fri, 30th Jan '04, 10:58pm Oh, dont worry, we can spawn them everywhere :D
The Eastgate and Wargs are uploaded already. Too bad the inside of the inn isnt yet. Will be today probably though, so no biggie.
Lots of fuss with conversation and merchant creating :o
Frostbite Sun, 1st Feb '04, 9:38pm Tris is still alive, no thanks to the endless amounts of undead and problems that NC seems to be having.
Bah, I need to buy a scythe somewhere. Thamier converted to the Morning Lord, it was all very interesting, wonder if he still has his old armour...
All weird happenings in NC right now, and to get anywhere you need a magical weapon, my arrows don't even scratch the zombies and Mummy Lords that were spawned on a group of us earlier this evening.
Gothmog• Sun, 1st Feb '04, 10:03pm In about 45min there's the final episode of the Arabel undead. I wont be there though. Too late with the school tomorrow.
Dont get killed again Frosty ;) :D
And i'm still messing around with all the building :o
Edit: Whew, i'm finaly done with the inn
2 more caves to go

NeoXro Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 3:23am What's "ALFA"? :D
Muumli, the Wayfarer Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 3:27am alandfaraway.net
We're going through some changes, so that page is outdated, but it provides an overview of the project. Click the community forums or ALFA chat to find current info on it. And you can fill out player applications on the site as well, they are still current. Come check us out.
Frostbite Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 10:40am Awww. *cries* I missed the undead final!
:(
*snivels* Still alive though :D . I need to get a very cool looking scythe for mt Tris though.
Khazraj Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 12:32pm How difficult is it to be accpeted by ALFA. I applied once over 3 months ago and never got a reply. I wonder if it is worth applying again?
Gothmog• Mon, 2nd Feb '04, 7:36pm Strange you got no reply... they send it whether you're accepted or not. Not that i've ever seen "you didnt get in! HAHA!" mail from ALFA :D
If its worth sending another application in!!?!
************** IT IS!!!!
(ahem, excuse me a bit, i just came home and i'm not in a normal state currently, couse i just did some big test - with friends around who did it as well. You can guess what happened then  )
Rotku Wed, 4th Feb '04, 5:01am Why won't they hurry up and elect and Admin?! Then The Pirate Isles can go live!!
It's so boring in Beta when one is ready to go live, there's nothing to do :(
Frostbite Fri, 6th Feb '04, 2:15pm Would be cool if a gang of us SP'ers could get together on Pirate Isle Beta some time. :D
:D whole gang of evil guys  very cool.
fade Fri, 6th Feb '04, 8:15pm Frost, there already is one, and as soon as the Isles go live he will be spending some quality time there. You know, selling magic weapons, scroll, drugs, the usual ya know?
Gothmog• Sat, 7th Feb '04, 9:07am Oh, yeah there's a PC mercenary working for bandits in the eastern NC. As i hear, there'll soon be quite a few more bandits around there :)
Krbang(Selgaunt DM) and i have talked a bit and decided some cross-server plots would be quite cool. With a large group of mercenaries especialy :D
Tristaar is more chaotic-like isnt she?
If you're interested seek out Kage Cloud.
Or as he's on Selgaunt often post here (http://desperado.homelinux.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1174&highlight=)

Frostbite Sat, 7th Feb '04, 10:31am Ooo, You know, Tris used to be lawful neutral, but I'm becoming chaotic evil. Zicada hawks over me and alters my alignment accordingly.
Scattering bones to prevent undead from rising. more evil. And most recently he caught me ... 'borrowing' some water from Amy's fountain. more chaotic.
Ah well, its fun my alignment changing.
And Gothmog, aslong as theres a chance of some loot, and Tris to get a name for herself, count me in.
fade Sat, 7th Feb '04, 9:48pm Kric is now in Arabel city. Seems he found himself a nice ally. 2 gps to anyone who can guess who that is. :)
Frostbite Sun, 8th Feb '04, 12:40pm Hmm, I could swear I saw your character on the player list in Arabel ;)
Tris pops into there every now and then for a shopping day.
Much intregue (sp?) around Thamier, all very interesting. Personally I'm quite glad Thamier is on the run, one more day of him trying to hit on my poor Tris and I would have to get my Katana out on him.
Rotku Mon, 9th Feb '04, 5:32am Is anyone here interested in a fun sort of session this coming Friday night/Saturday morning. I'm trying to arrange it to be European friendly to give the other half of the world a change to see the greatness of The Pirate Isles ;) This is just a fun thing before we go Live, to say good bye to the Beta stages.
I'm going to try and involve a little bit of everything, from ship combat, to exploring the islands to NPC interactions, to hunting dragons. Well maybe not dragons, unless someone is particully stupid, but you get the idea.
I should be able to get some more detailed posted up in the ALFA forums if any one is interested.
Frostbite Mon, 9th Feb '04, 11:44am Woop! Sounds great. I'll go check it out later, but If I can make it time wize, then count me in. I'll try come up with a decent character design and play around on the server a bit before.
Rotku Fri, 13th Feb '04, 4:08am Set sails to the Pirate Isles tonight!
When the clock strikes 8pm over in England it will mark the begining of a gamingish session thingy in The Pirate Isles. It's a way of saying good bye to the Beta stages, as we should be going Live with the coming of the new admin. Everyone's invited, including DMs if you'd like a brake from DMing.
So set the sails towards the Isles, and be there intime for some Beta fun ;)
fade Fri, 13th Feb '04, 5:49am To bad my level 5 beta character disappeared. Was looking forward to fireballin Frostbite ;)
Btw there was some great fun in Selgaunt this night. Had some good fights in there. There were both CvC and Player vs creature fights. Plenty of betting was invloved and I lost all that I had won on Franin(grrrr, no fair him fighting something that attacks are +23 +18 +14 +10 with a flaming sword). To bad that Kage decided to fight someone else, so I didn't get a fight. He probaly would of beaten me. Level 4 mage vs a level 4 fighter is tough on the mage. Was all great fun though.
As soon as I figure out drokkar's email I will send him a screenie i took, so he can host it for all to see.
Frostbite Fri, 13th Feb '04, 9:21am *sniffle*
My PC time was shortened so I couldn't get online for the arena.
*Cries*
You're gonna have to tell me how it went now Fade. :p
Anyway, I'm ready for tonight Ruler :D Already made my dual weilding fighter lass
fade Mon, 16th Feb '04, 7:38pm A very frusterating experience in BG was turned around thanks to Andrew. Me and meebu somehow got stuck in an AT, so we basically stuck in two areas. The worst part was, there was an ant spawn in there. So as we ran from some ants, we AT'ed back, and the ants followed us. This process was repeat for about 15 minutes till I gave up and signed off. Meebu stayed on continueing the process till Andrew signed on and saved us. We then had a little fun with a halfing rogue that lead us to some town north of where we were. Then I had fun talking to a red wizard while meebu ran in circles.
The greatest part about the whole thing was when we were in the Inn where we met the halfing. Meebu kept running in circles, and then decided to spontanteously collapse. Not sure why it was so fun, but we were both falling out of our chairs. Sad, I know, but ah well.
Rotku Tue, 17th Feb '04, 5:31am Rotku's doing some part time DMing in IWD at the moment, which is turning out to be great fun. It's so different from DMing on TPIs, and not jsut because of the numbers around. Just been in a heavily rural server changes it a lot.
Gothmog• Thu, 26th Feb '04, 3:31pm Bonita(Yuki SpellCold) and Hardpungt (Voran Ma'ferr) have become ADMs for Arabel City and Northern Cormyr.
A very welcoming addition to the team, since Icarus(HDM) is pretty busy real-life and has to take care of the more hardware buisness. The other ADM - Zicada cant play that much either - has the vault buisness. And i lack time to play as much as i would want. Analog Kid comes every so often, but he has Arabel to take care of (he's HDM of AC).
So expect some more live action on NC these days :D
I'll try my best to be up there too. Voran and Yuki both seem to have huge amounts of time available for ALFA, so it'll really liven the server up.
So drop by! :)
drowling Thu, 26th Feb '04, 4:41pm Umm... what's ALFA and where do I get it?
Harbourboy Thu, 26th Feb '04, 5:15pm It stands for "A Land Far Away". It's a centre for online gaming. You can find it here...... (http://www.alandfaraway.net/)
Gothmog• Thu, 26th Feb '04, 5:47pm Another great thing... the Lead Admin is elected. McJoker. He's also the HDM of DaggerDale succeding Memneth.
Its only a matter of time now, before the whole Admin council is assembled. And, as Rotku surely knows ;) the Beta servers will finaly be able to go Live then.
@drowling
Thats the main page above by Harbourboy. I do advise you to take a look at the community forums (http://desperado.homelinux.org/phpBB2/index.php) .
Even better though, join the chat. That's the quickest way to get to know ALFA. (server: irc.daxnet.no channel: alfa).
Frostbite Thu, 26th Feb '04, 8:51pm I'm down and out atm guys.
new installation onto the PC has eaten my NWN, I've managed to rescue my .haks, but NWN still isn't playing well, not sure whats up with the whole thing, but hopefully I'll be able to fix it over the weekend.
*snivels* Poor Trissy, missing everything.
Rotku Fri, 27th Feb '04, 3:45am It should only be a matter of days now until The Pirate Isles go Live! Yay!
And to top things off we have a new DM, Akivaria the old Player rep, has joined us!
Frostbite Fri, 27th Feb '04, 11:20am I have the perfect character for TPI, but I'm gonna have to play Trissy through for the while. Bah, once my PC feels agreeable enough to let me at least.
Gothmog• Fri, 27th Feb '04, 11:50am @Frosty
-format c:
-install win
-install NwN+Sou+HotU+hakpacks
;)
Frostbite Fri, 27th Feb '04, 5:35pm Ah. well, I don't install into c:, takes up too much room. With the harddrive expansion, I have my own 20Gb. Which i re-installed NWN+all exp. packs into.
I think something might've been knocked when the hard drive was being installed, because NWN ran funny before I re-installed it into my own hard drive space (drive H, under the name of Alice()which is my name:P)). The mouse is always flickering, and when I load/start a new game, it's slow and jumpy. It's not just my agme too, all of my sisters Sims games run with the flickery mouse and laggy graphics too.
Gothmog• Fri, 27th Feb '04, 11:33pm I really doubt the cause is hard-drive. I'd sooner say software, most likey graphical drivers.
Could be wrong though :heh:
Rotku Sat, 28th Feb '04, 8:19am For those of you who can make it we are having yet another "Goodbye Beta" session, and combining it with a "Welcome new ADM" session tomorrow. More info is posted on the ALFA forum.
Frostbite Sat, 28th Feb '04, 5:38pm Gah, damnit, only a matter of hours till I can get my PC back in line
:/
@Gothmog, I figure it might be the graphics card, perhaps I'll force my Dad to download a better graphics driver...
edit/ w00p! Fixed, now I just need to fiddle my version, and I'll be back in time for the TPI Beta run.
My CE Wiz is close to level 2, I can't wait till the action starts in 2 hours

I'm gonna be there today... playing! :D
Wreaking havoc for you Ruler Of The Known Uni... Pirate Isles
//ehm... Frost are you sure decoded the time into our zone properly? :1eye:
It's empty right now.
aah, you edited it at 19.00
Frostbite Sat, 28th Feb '04, 7:44pm Bah, I'm having problems down dating :/
Xei Win Toh Tue, 2nd Mar '04, 2:25pm Just sent in my ALFA application. Hope I get accepted, since the character bio it requires of one to write could probably pass off for a short story.
Rotku Wed, 3rd Mar '04, 2:51am And if you don't get in, which is very common, we'll all know that you'll try again and again!
Good luck!
Rotku DMed on WD for a bit last night! It was so good to be back there! That was the only place I could ever get a character off 1st level.
For all you ALFA members, and those of you who know something about it go vote! http://nwvault.ign.com/index2.shtml

Deathmage Sat, 6th Mar '04, 9:05am Hey, don't worry, I had to reapply three times before they let me, the vagrant, in.
*goes off to make his -sixth- character*
Xei Win Toh Mon, 8th Mar '04, 7:27pm My first application didn't get in, and my second didn't either. How about some general tips on the last four questions? :holy:
Rotku Tue, 9th Mar '04, 5:34am And the last 4 questions would be?
My advise for any one is keep retrying. If you are persistant enough they will eventually let you in.
