You know all those things that litter other topics and where they shouldnt even be are most welcomed here.

Kind of ALFA babbling post.... But at least it help non-ALFAns to feel a bit of what is happening there.

Temporary: Its a stupid title... Anyone thinks of a better one?

I like the title. When ALFA has a Saturday Morning Cartoon spin off, that is what they'll call it. Either that or Sir Belisarius
and His Amazing Friends ;)

Aramis Zenga along with Hallen Oats (I mean Rhyn) are members of the Circle of Seven Daggers. A company of druids and rangers, we have a long-term mission to placate the spirits of the forest and prevent further intrusions upon it.

Last night we had to hunt down a pack of wolves. Taking the pack leader back to a shire of Sylvanus, we then fought each other barehanded to see who is the most "viril". The winner sacrificed the wolf, was possessed by the spirit of the stag, and then furthered the plot in a more "carnal" way.

The DM controlling it was excellent. He apologized afterwards for being "ill-prepared" but to me, it was a flawless campaign. I got a good chunk of xp, the other players were great role-players ... the whole night was a blast.

Ha! You forgot the part where I cleaned your clock! Fisticuff Battle Royale for the chance to "put it" to a comely Druid wench!

Unfortunately, I got my own clock cleaned as well, so I was left as a bystander to the "carnal" ritual too. :)

Now why would I tell them about you cleaning my clock? The story-teller is always right! ;)

You know, if Varc and Arien had role-played their relationship a bit more leading up to the sacrifice, we all could have tackled Kameras first off. I had thought about getting us to team up on him since he was obviously the strongest ... but I only had ooc knowledge of their relationship. Aramis had not met Varc until last night and the few hints he gave weren't enough (in my opinion).

Gonna be interesting to see how this pans out.

Yeah, I agree with you, but I'm not sure what I would have done had I known.

This was for the greater end remember, and we needed the strongest to perform the ritual to placate the spirit, so I don't know that I would have risked the failure of the ritual for them.

From the collected notes of Gnessen, The Vast Swamp:

“A dark mood is settling over the folks of Thunderstone. Between bugbears, lizardfolk and bandits, not to mention the constant influx of bugs coming up from the swamp, the roads leading out of Thunderstone have ne’er been safe. While we always thought these to be chance encounters in a wild region, it appears there might be a mind behind some of them after all….

The day started out like so many others: several folks had gathered near the fire outside of Corkies to talk of new and recent events, and of plans for the day. Amy and Perry came running over, with news of another fallen stranger at the monastery: seems they’d escorted this bloke to the ruin, only to watch him get cornered by some bugs. After some quick patch work, they’d run back to Thunderstone to fetch a healer or a curative, and they were needing a key to get back inside. Arakiel and I quickly offered our assistance – there are many spare keys kicking around town now – and we sped off to bring the feller back. We got inside the ruin easily enough, and had to fight off several onslaughts of those darn beetles that spit fire. The stranger was in bad shape, but we did manage to bring him back from the brink – almost lost him again when he started running around chasing bugs! Darned fool. Anyways, we brought him back to town and sent him off with a few words of advice about life in the wilds, and we returned to the others around the fire.

While we were gone, another stranger showed up – this one asking directions to the hin town, Besert. Knowing the dangers on the road south, a bunch of us offered to escort this new fella south. Plus, Joshua was getting antsy, and wanted to pay the spiders in the caves a visit. So, myself, Joshua, Archel, Amy, Lauren and this newcomer set off for Besert.

The journey south was mostly quiet, which was a bit unusual in itself. We cleared some spiders out of the caves before returning to the road. As we neared Besert, Josh was complaining about the lack of bear-owls (I think he meant owlbears though), when Archel spied a group of bandits on the road ahead. We quickly spread out and prepared for a fight; Archel and Josh snuck up on them, and the battle was engaged. Now, bandits aren’t too tough when you’ve got a decent sized group – provided everyone knows what they’re doing. But that damn fool, Malichai or something like that, was running around so much he nearly got himself killed a couple of times. Lucky for him that the elf girl Lauren is a fair healer. When it was all over and done with, we managed to collect a fair bit of loot from the bandits including two breastplates; Archel was quite keen on selling these.

It seemed strange that bandits would be so bold as to attack almost in sight of the Besert guards, and several of us commented on this at the time. We entered the outskirts of Besert, and sent Malichai-something and Lauren off to town, while the rest of us settled against the trees and enjoyed the pleasant sun. We waited for sometime, and eventually Archel and Amy had to go take care of some other business. Lauren returned soon enough, but the newcomer must have got lost in Besert somehow (Archel was worried that he’d take off with one of the breastplates – and she might have been right after all). As the sun started to set, Josh, Lauren and I decided it was time to return to Thunderstone.

Duskfall is always a signal to take more care, and even as we three noted this, we clearly understated the dangers that lie ahead on our way back. For Josh, who on the way south had complained endlessly about the lack of excitement, his wish was about to be granted….

We walked carefully down the road, Josh scouting ahead of us, and things seemed calm enough even as we passed the halfway point between Besert and Thunderstone. Suddenly, with Josh just ahead of us, he called out a warning: a large group of bandits burst out from the woods on all sides, shouting about not paying for protection, and then they were on us. Josh was quickly set-upon by three or four of them, while I ducked beneath the legs of two chasing me so that I could get my crossbow free. There were several about Lauren, although her great wolf Frost was keeping them at bay. I killed the two after me, and turned to clear the others from Lauren – Josh, as he often does, was cutting those around him into ribbons – when she let out a great cry, filled with pain and anguish! One of the bastards had gotten passed the wolf, and in one barbarous blow sent her to the grave. Josh and I quickly cleared out the rest of those bastards and ran to Lauren where she lay…but it was too late. The bastards had given her a horrible, great gash...and her life’s blood had flown from her.

We swallowed our tears and our anguish, and carefully gathered her lifeless body to take back to Thunderstone. We spoke little as we moved north, and what words did come were of vengeance for our fallen comrade. But our troubles were not yet through. Just south of Thunderstone we were again beset by bandits! Still raging from the last, we let loose hell’s furry on them. Josh cut them down from up close while I filled them cursed full of bolts. When we were done, we were a cursed mess…I couldn’t tell what blood was theirs, what my own. I went to tend Josh’s wounds, when a bolt caught me full in the chest! Stunned, I turned to see a band of kobolds coming at us from the near woods…I was able to loose a few more bolts as Josh closed on them before I was felled to the ground. I lost consciousness briefly, but I remember Josh standing over me, a horrible mess himself, with an empty flask in his hands. Still weak from my own wounds, I lifted Lauren to my shoulders and, in silent furry, we last two continued the rest of the way to Thunderstone.

We took Lauren to Corkies, and, after selling most of our possessions, spoke to the priests. Josh is a kinder soul than he likes to let on at times, and fronted the bulk of the coin to have Lauren brought back. I have no words to describe the scene as the priests called her soul back into her beaten shell of a body – I have seen such a rite three times now, and it will ne’er cease to amaze me. She was startled, confused and dazed…but alive and whole again.

We met Evyn at Corkies as well, and we spoke of our recent trials. She could see the anger burning within us...and the need for vengeance. Between we had settled it: these bandits had claimed enough lives, and it was far passed time to have them all and done for. Still, we lamented that, no matter how many bandits we sent to the grave, there were always more and still more to take their place. Then Evyn up’d the anty: she had a name. She had recently overheard some of the bandits talking about a leader named ‘Syd’, shortly before she sent them to their deaths.

So, now we know the name behind these murderous bastards…and I swear under the eyes of Bearvan, this Syd will pay in full for every drop of blood that has been spilled at his word….”

Here's one from this weekend:

The Siege of White Chalk Hollow

Rem slowly turns the key to his room in the Councillor's office, the twinge in his wrist screamed as he pushed the door open. With a heavy sigh, he he propped his crossbow against the wall, slumped on the couch. Noticing his dirty and blood-soaked armor, gingerly removed it, giving out small yelps and curses as his wriggling upset the many cuts and bruises he earned this night.

***

A short time later, Rem sat at his desk in his gray and red councillor's uniform, staring at a blank parchment. Finally, like a wave, the memories of the evening's event came rushing back to him, and he began to write:

[i] My Lord Morn,

The orcs of the Tesh Valley have grown brazen. Hallen Rwn and I were patrolling the Tesh Valley southwest of White Chalk Hallow, when we came up a large group of adventurers stalking the orcs that infest those rolling rolls. We came upon Glory Mooncalled, so called paladin and knight, Methos, a headstrong barbarian, Mikaylic, an elf lass named Alana, and the dwarves: Hignar, Segnar, Dralin, and Olga. We joined with the group and continued west into the valley insearch of the orc band.

As we searched along the river, we came across a great host of orcs. As many as fifty swarmed ahead of us! Archers, heavily armored warriors, and a deadly shaman barred our path to the west. As I slinked towards them, a larger warrior shouted a throaty cry, and the battle was on!

Arrows flew, magick pierced the late day sky, and the clash of blade and axe rang throughout the Dale. Methos the barbarian charged into the fray, cleaving his way through the ranks of archers, as the dwarves with their axes moved up as well. Covered by our own archers, we turned the battle to our favor with each passing moment. I snuck behind the evil orc priest and fired a bolt squarely into his back. After he fell, we quickly won the day!

“I am invincible! Bring more orcs for my blade!” Methos shouted his challenge, and it echoed throughout the vale. We were all in high spirits, as he continued to shout challenges and curses at the unseen orcs in the hills. Glory, the PALADIN, shifted uneasily in her armor. “Perhaps we should go back to town” she whimpered. As night was quickly approaching, the group agreed to seek the shelter of White Chalk Hollow.

As the companions walked north towards the town, a guttural cry froze them in their tracks. A huge lone orc, carrying a heavy axe, and the banner of his tribe came up behind us. A few of the skittish band fired hastily as the orc offered a challenge in broken common. “I have come to challenge yoo humin! I wuz cent by duh chief.” He barked as he gestured to Methos. “Yes, I herd yer challenge in the valley, I’z kum to fight yoo one on one.” The orc grinned savagely as he began licking his axe. Sensing Methos’ hesitance, he continued, “Or if yoo iz afraid, I’ll fight any one of yooz!”

The huge orc pointed his axe at the paladin, Glory, next. “What about yoo? Girl in shiny armer?” Will yoo face me in battle? he taunted. Glory, to my amazement, not only declined, she began to RUN from the orc further north toward the safetly of the town! Never in my life have I seen such a shameful display, from a holy warrior. Perhaps her god, is the god of self-preservation. I do not know.

As the orc continued to hurl taunts at us, the day faded slowly into night. The orc laughed haughtily, as he revealed his plan. “I only needed to stall yoo silly little folk, owr army is coming to krush yooz and yer puny town! He laughed again as he retreated into the shadows, as our missiles chased after him. We hurried to catch up to Glory as she fled to the town of White Chalk Hollow to prepare for the coming fight.

*** White Chalk Hollow – Dusk ***

The group huddled together in the center of town as they heard the cries of battle at the south gate of White Chalk Hollow. I ran to the gate to see what was happening. I heard the guard outside the gate cry for help, as the rest of the group moved up. I shouted to the guard inside to open up the gate, so we could join the battle. As he did so, the stout dwarves, Methos and I rushed out the gate to clash with our foes. I moved in and out of the shadows taking point blank shots at the nearest foe, to deadly effect, as Alana’s spells glowed through the night. After a hard fought skirmish, the orcs withdrew. As we re-entered the gate, I noticed the fallen body of the guard, lying next to a huge battering ram.

“They mean to take the town, we must not let this happen!” I don’t know if it was the situation, or just the months of following Falin into battle, but I began to lay the plans for the town’s defense. I ordered two each of our number to stand guard at the gates, with the doorguard, and had others patrol the walls’ perimeter, as I laid defensive traps near the center of town. Just as we were making these preparations, we were joined by Radra the druid, and a plucky ranger named Aramis. Even as they entered the walls, the orcs began an assault on the North gate.

Once again bows’ sung, and steel clashed! We defended White Chalk with a great fury that drove the enemy away quicker this time; even the outside guard was spared. But one of our number was not so lucky, Mikaylic lay dead. I had only met her earlier in the day, but the loss of even one of our number may mean the end of this quaint little village.

Suddenly, things grew quiet. So Hallen, Hignar and I began to patrol the east part of town. To my horror, I found orcs pouring over the side of the wall! Over 20 had gained the gained as we approached. Hallen sent word to the others, and the fight was on again! Having been blooded by the first two assaults, our group responded even quicker, pounding away at the gruesome orcs in a desperate fight. We left none of the invaders standing. I propped myself up with my crossbow, and wiped blood from my forehead, as I tried to regain my breath. “Surely this cannot go on” I thought.

As if sensing my very thoughts, the sounds of battle raged again on the west side of town. Big hairy bugbears had also breached the wall. But it seemed our stout dwarven allies were up to the task, as the melee ended just as I arrived. The corpses of the dead bugbears lay strewn in the street near the Bladebright smithy. In the distance, I could hear the heavy pounding of heavy feet. A giant was lurking near by. And the sounds of rams battering the south gate stirred us once more to action.

The gate could no longer hold our attackers; their huge rams cracked the gate into splinters as they poured into the city. Again, all of the valiant defenders rushed to stem the tide of orcs as they had done so before. I stalked to the rear of the foes to get a good shot at their shaman, as the dwarves and Methos charged through their numbers, while the rest, along with Glory fired volleys of arrows into the frenzied orcs. Again, they could not stand against us, and began to flee to the south. As we began to chase, a giant fell upon us!

As we tried to pierce its’ hide with arrows and bolts, Methos charged to close with the huge creature, his blade even found its mark. But the barbarian could not withstand the flurry of battering blows the giant laid on him. With one great swipe of his club, Methos fell. Again, he paid for his rashness. After that, it seemed the giant lost his stomach for battle, and fled toward the south bridge. We were able to cut him down before he reached it.

A quiet peace began to us, as the first rays of morning began to pierce the night. Although sad at the loss of our comrades, we cheered the coming of day, and our victory. We dismantled their rams, and siege engines, and laid our honored dead at the altar of Chauntea with a short, silent prayer. As the villagers slowly began to emerge from their homes, I knew we had won the day.

I gathered the group of companions, shouting my praise to them and their combined heroics, but I felt the task was not yet done. Dralin voice my concerns, when he asked if we should not pursue these pesky orcs into the hills. The companions also felt encouraged by our victory, and heartily agreed. So we set off to finish the job by taking the fight to our enemies.

We found the last company of them along the banks of the Tesh river. They held orderly ranks, cowed into position by a hulking warrior and yet another shaman. The huge orcs cried “Vengeance!” and charged. Although the orcs fought savagely, they again began to break upon our vicious attack. I crept close to the shaman again firing a deadly shot. But another bowman in our company claimed the evil priest. After that, the few remaining orcs, began to run in all directions, as we slew them in short order.

The battle won, the weary veterans of the previous nights’ events finally decided to head back to Dagger Falls. Everyone walked proudly, realizing the that they had done a great deed this day. I frowned slightly as I realized that this engagement would certainly be a source of paperwork for me to do when I returned to the city.

************************************************** ***********

The following valiant warriors took part in the Battle of White Chalk Hollow:

Aramis
Methos (KIA)
Radra
Segnar
Dralin
Hallen
Alana
Olga
Rognar
Hignar
Mikaylic (KIA)
Glory
Rem

A very special thanks to Mikayla for putting together a fantastic and tense siege! And also for exposing the utter cowardice of a “heroic” paladin of the Dale. ((Sorry Glory…”Lawful Good doesn’t mean Lawful Stupid”…Doesn’t hold you very high in my esteem. I was shocked an honorable figure like a paladin would run from a challenge of single combat from a lowly orc!))

I hope my story did the adventure justice!

I'm playing Aramis *the plucky one* ;)

Just reached second level after hunting some orcs and raiding a kobald lair. Great fun.

(not nearly as flowery as Bel, but I had to log on and celebrate NOT dying and hitting second level ...things should be a bit scary now that I can get some animal help and heal myself (or friends :good: )

I cant even play on ALFA anymore. I think its the 1.30 patch. It installed also what seems to be SoU patch... I have the prestige classes listed and new skills... Too bad i cant choose them :p

Seems i'll have to downgrade.(sounds strange :) downgrade)

Erran
Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 9:09am
Yes, ALFA has clearly said many times don't upgrade to 1.3 and/or SoU until they say OK. Players and DMs have to all change together and it may require changes to the hakpak or even some modules.

Sir Belisarius
Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 11:58am
Gothmog...I have a copy of SoU sitting on my desk taunting me to install it!!! But alas, I am waiting for the big ALFA OK!

I wish I was playing an evil character....Assassin looks SO cool!!!!

BTW, Math...You know I said "plucky" just to mess with you! ;)

Bel ... of course! ;)

And you know that I picked to level up as a cleric with heal domain just to save your sorry arse! ;) :good:

If I find you laying face down in a sewer again ... oh wait, that was MY sorry/holy arse ;) :holy:

I thought you took ranger to get an animal companion?

Blackthorne TA
Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 3:59pm
Well, if he picked Druid, he gets an animal companion right away instead of waiting until 6th level of Ranger (I think that's right).

I just reached 3rd, and I LOVE Rapid Shot. I went with Aramis (and a few others) to get that pesky mountain man that keeps coming back, and I hit him with a critical with my second shot of the round and he exploded into chunky bits! :) Great fun! It is SO much better to have that second shot every round even though I get a -2 penalty.

Oh, and Aramis - I told you before, it's your HOLE-Y arse!

Mathetais
Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 4:12pm
BTA with rapid fire feat ... yep ... HOLE-Y arse is the right word.

One odd thing ... happened to me a few times last night. I'd go through an AT, and then get "swept" to another part of the map. We went downstairs in the goblin HQ, and I was swept down the hall...right behind to goblins alone (pre-level up). Took them down with two arrows, but because I wasn't downstairs I didn't get credit for the quest.

I've seen that happen to Errik too. I have no idea what causes it.

Damn will i be glad once i get back to ALFA... I've been trying some other servers and they dont get even close to ALFA. period!

I don't know what to tell you Goth...They had a hug notice on the ALFA boards about not updating your system until they implement 1.30 on the ALFA servers.

Too bad... i wont be able to play for some time it seems :( Downgrading didnt work.

The second seige of White Chalk Hollow ....

... didn't happen.

Last night Hallen (BTA) and a few others encountered a group of powerful orcs during broad daylight. Hallen lead his friends to victory, and eliminated the band.

Somehow, the others grew convinced that this was the vanguard of an extremely powerful orc army, so they banded together in the Hollow, sent runners to the city to get more support. Soon over 20 warriors crowded near the south gate of white chalk, waited, and waited .... but the orcs never arrived. Either they saw our numbers and fled, or were diverted by easier prey.

After hours of useless waiting, we broke into parties of five to scout the area. This "plucky" ranger encountered many orcs, a few giant ants, and two worgs!

I thank the Leaflord that White Chalk is safe ... but was looking forward to emptying a quiver or two.

((ooc ... nearly every person on the DD server was in white chalk. The DM who set up the initial encounter logged off, so all this was a huge waste of time. Remind me next time "When in doubt, listen to Hallen!)

(( not topic related, but I felt I should post it anyway))

Okay. due to the fact that the harddrive on our PC is full. I was forced to uninstall NWN. I had just got Tae to lvl 2 aswell...

Anyway, I won't be able to play for some time. *cries*

But I shall enjoy reading everyones adventures :)

*side note* anyone know if multiplayed characters are saved?

Mathetais
Tue, 24th Jun '03, 9:04pm
They should be saved in the server vault. They won't let us save them on our computers ... or else we might edit them

So, when your are back, Tae should be waiting for you!

Hallen scribbles into his journal

It was a bad two days. At least they ended with a few good results.

They started inocuously enough when I joined the campfire outside the River Gate where Aramis and Toli were already sitting. A little chitchat and Aramis was pulled away by that Lukis for some private talk just as Merry walked up. I worry for Aramis; he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and I'm afraid he's being taken advantage of in all these private chats I see him involved in.

Merry seemed unusually worried as he ask me and Toli whether we had seen Hignar lately. We both responded negatively, and this just seemed to agitate Merry even further. Toli professed boredom and headed to Whitechalk to see if he could find some Dwarven kin to hunt orcs with, and Merry yelled after him to tell Hignar that he needed to talk with him.

This seemed very strange to me, noting the almost desperate tone in Merry, so I attempted to pursue what was going on, but Merry would not speak of it. Or, perhaps I should say Merry COULD not speak of it; any attempt seemed to cleave his tongue to the roof of his mouth and his breathing became ragged! From what I could gather, Merry was seeking Hignar because he believed Hignar was under some sort of geas, and that he could somehow help Merry. That is as much as Merry could speak on the matter... very strange indeed, and I began to suspect some dark magic was involved.

At this point I offered to help Merry look for Hignar; the Dwarves are always out hunting orcs, so I suggested we go out into the Tesh Valley and see if we could either find Hignar or someone who knew where he was.

We entered the Tesh Valley and eventually ran across a couple of Orc bands near where the Mountain Man is always returning, which we dispatched with ease. Seeing as how it was unlikely that these Orcs would be alive if the Dwarves had passed by, Merry and I decided to go back to Whitechalk and wait to see if any Dwarves passed through.

As we waited at a campfire outside the barn, Ragnar and then Dralin appeared. Neither had seen Hignar, and didn't know where he might be, but they also thought that the likeliest place would be in the Tesh Valley, or maybe at the Elemental Tower. We banded together to go looking for Hignar for Merry's sake (though I think the Dwarves just wanted to relieve their boredom), and we slew several bands of Orcs along the way.

This is when things started to go badly. We eventually ran across Bugbears, and one group seemed unusually powerful. Bolt after bolt slammed into me, the poison in them taking its toll on my wracked body, but we prevailed over the lot of them in the end. I was badly wounded and poisoned, and Ragnar had already spent most of his healing power on the others, but he was able to make me feel somewhat better.

As we searched the remains of our fallen enemy, I spied a corpse among the fallen Bugbears, and ran over to see who it might be. Well, who else was it than the object of our search: Hignar! "Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t!" I heard Merry chant like some kind of hopeless mantra, and I could see the desperation growing in his eyes. I picked up Hignar, ready to make the long, slow trek back to civilization, but the two dwarves said, if Hignar was here, Babras would not be far behind, and we must search for him.

We all headed in different directions, the dwarves searching farther towards the Elemental Tower, while I probed around the entrance of a cave nearby and Merry looked around down below. Merry and I came up empty, and soon Ragnar came back also empty handed, so Ragnar picked up Hignar's body and we began to make our way back to town.

We had only gone a short ways when Dralin ran up and said he had found Babras' body lying unconscious amidst several Water Elementals near the Elemental Tower! We were all in bad shape, but we couldn't just leave Babras out there to die! We were able to fight our way to Babras' side, but did not have sufficient healing ability to be able to revive him, and I spied an evil Sorcerer in the distance who kept sending more and more Elementals after us.

The Dwarves told Merry to run back to town to get a healing potion to revive Babras, but he seemed reluctant to go alone, so I volunteered. I was still in bad shape from the Bugbear battle, but I ran as best I could. Halfway back to Whitechalk, I ran into Toli, Hignar(!) and another Dwarf that I had not seen before. As I ran up to them this Dwarf challenged me, asking who I was. Ignoring him, I yelled that Babras was near death, and someone handed me a healing potion. Not pausing for any pleasantries or to ask how it was that Hignar was now among the living, I immediately turned and ran back toward where Babras lay, though I believe the three Dwarves followed.

I ran all the way back to Babras' unconscious body and poured the potion between his lips. As his eyes fluttered open, he yelled "Behind you!". In my haste I had not seen the three Elementals chase after me. Again we battled Elementals as Toli, Hignar and this other Dwarf joined with us, and they were dispatched in short order.

I was all for beating a hasty retreat at this point since two of the Dwarves were just newly out of their deathbeds, and I was in pretty bad shape, but this new Dwarf immediately ran over to where the Sorcerer was and attacked him! Not being one to leave a comrade to fight alone I entered the fray along with Toli. Destructive magic was thrown about by the foul Sorcerer. and I was hit with some kind of acid ball just as he fell that nearly took my life from me, but we were victorious once again!

We headed back to Whitechalk for an ale in the inn there and I was just getting the details of how it was Hignar was among the living, when Toli burst in yelling that Whitechalk was under attack! Groaning, I lifted my beaten and battered body out of my comfortable seat and assisted in Whitechalk's defense for the second time.

The second attack on Whitechalk was much the same as the last time... probes from every direction, Orcs scaling the walls on one side, Bugbears scaling the other, Orcs battering down the gates; but we had a large force and were able to turn back every attack.

With the coming of the dawn, I collapsed in a heap from exhaustion and my wounds, and know not what may have happened after that other than what was in my dreams.

[EDIT]
Oh, if anyone wants to post this on the ALFA boards, feel free; I can't get to them from work...

It was a wild night, I'm glad Merry's secret is finally out, the worst part was that Eso and Cor hadn't shared that part of my bio with Mil and Thingrey so I ended up having to run it through again for them. I had this happen before on TVS when I'd asked Alby if I could do something and he hadn't passed the info along. So my advice from this is, if your doing something special with your character, make sure you let all the DMs on the server know what's up.

Well the secret isn't well known yet, Hallen should be able to figure it out, a couple of the Dwarves have figured it out, Hignar and Toli. Bel got the most massive hint on a certain cross-server run (I wasn't metagaming about my knowledge). Talk to Merry and pay attention to what he says and how he says it. I'm starting to get an understanding of why DMs get so pissed at PCs, you hit them with a clue-by-four three or four times and no-body gets it.( I include myself in this catagory, I've gotten a couple of Tells from DMs asking why I didn't react to a situation they had given me)

4th rule of DMing: Players are always smarter than you could imagine.

Players will often exhibit both types of behaviour on the same night!

3 o'clock in the morning ... I was there last night ... being dumber than you could possibly imagine. ;)

How did my orc hunt turn into an encounter with a drow assassin? Despite being called a coward and false friend, I still think not attacking was smart of me.

Any opinions? http://www.alandfaraway.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=10067

----
Aramis sat by the fire telling the tale that still fills him with dread.

A week ago, I went to the crypts to investigate those rumors I told you about. Met up with Ania (a female ranger) and Hingar (with his head sewed back on). There were no zombies, so we decided to hunt orcs.

Just outside of White Chalk, we met Falling Leaf and Lukis. After some brief talking, we joined up and were about to head to the Tesh Valley when Hingar thought he saw something. We looked around, dismissed it, then continued. I was the last one to leave, and this time I saw a cloaked woman with two knives held ready. I panicked, called the team together, and we looked around.

This time the woman stood to talk. She was Kaylar, assassin of the drow (the same that took down Lord Helmet and Aiden). Her and Hingar had some unfinished business ... seems that she raised Hingar after Hallen's bug-bear incident.

Then Falling Leaf ate a spider out of the grass, and told her to "choke on a bone". She marked him for death, so he opened fire.

I looked to the more experienced Lukis and Hingar for direction, but both told me to stay my hand. I wanted to help my friend, but was filled with fear as well.

They battled briefly, then she chased him off.

As my senses reeled, Babras walked up. We began discussing the drow, and he spoke that the Ironstar dwarves would not get involved in Lord Morn's war. They would offer non-aggression to the Lothian drow.

I mentioned that the Circle held a similar stance, but that I was told to take down any drow within my means. Non-aggression was not mentioned.

The cloaked woman appeared just them, professing to have heard our conversation. She and Babras conferred for a long time, the result of which is that she will not attack Daggersprings, and I am to seek more clarity in the circles orders towards the drow factions.

All in all it was a harrowing experience. I'm left with two questions;

1) Should I have stood with Falling Leaf, even if it meant my death?

2) Did I do damage to the circle with my words.

I don't know if this is the right topic to post this...

I just recieved the e-mail that I was finally exepted into ALFA. I had to wait two weeks on the reply, but it was worth the waiting.

So, what is a good time to play on the Daggerdale server, when are most players and DM's online?

Welcome to the addiction! Let us know who you are playing ... I finally got to team up with Capt Tripps last night. He saw me get turned into a pin cushion by a group of tough lizardmen. Thank goodness for that drow Lukis ;)

A little story from before the lizardmen incident ....

Aramis shakes as he walks into the Red Rock, glad to see that few of his fellow adventurers are around to take a chance for the bounty, or (worse right now) to talk. Slamming a bottle of dwarf spirits, then ordering another, he put his back to the wall and let the warmth of the fire seep into his chilled bones.

He had wandered into the cemetery, then into the crypts. There were no disturbed graves, nothing out of the ordinary. Going down one long hall, he easily dispatched two zombies. Heading east, he entered the next long hall. Sighting two more zombies he positioned himself ... when the door slammed and locked behind him. Figuring there would be a release lever or that the zombies might have the key, he focused again on the kill. This time, however, as he narrowed his eyes to fire, he noticed a crowd. The hall was filled with zombies, shambling towards him. Drawing on newly found divine powers, he called a dire boar to stand between him and the mass of undead. Firing arrows as quickly as he could, he lost count of the things as they fell to his arrows and the boars tusks. Soon the boar fell beneath their weight. Running and firing, Aramis fled further down the hall, into another crowd. Another boar was called upon, the last he could summon. Running, using the niches of the crypt for cover, he wheeled and fired until, finally, the last of the creatures fell with an arrow in his eye.

Searching the hall, he found no latch, no key. He returned to the locked door and hammered at it with his mace, to no avail. Panic rose like bile in his throat as he looked at the fallen undead. Would they rise again? Would worse things crawl into the crypt? How long could he live without food or water ... probably without sleep?

As he paused his attack on the door to think, he heard the latch open. Hoping that luck had brought assistance, he sprang from the crypt to greet his savior. The words, "Thanks, I am Aramis" died on his lips as he saw a skeletal figure, clad in black and carrying a burning red staff.

Shuffling his feet, looking for exits, the plucky ranger bided his time with words. "What brings you down here? Not sure we've met" and other blabbering poured from his lips.

Then a voice that sounded like a dagger of ice scratching granite asked, "What brings you here? Have you come to see why the undead are so troubled here?"

Lying, Aramis responded, "No, nothing of the sort. I had heard a few ghost stories about things upside, and my investigations brought me down here."

Red eyes fixed on Aramis' green orbs and the dark clad figure said, "Unless you want to be the first of my new undead army ... flee!"

He ran through the first door, and slammed it shut behind him. Taking to the shadows, he fought the desire to flee, closing doors behind him, then pausing as he heard them opened one at a time behind him. The thing was following ...

Aramis continued to the exit of the crypt, smelling the fresh air and feeling the daylight outside. Emboldened by the daylight, he paused and waited for this dead-seeming necromancer. "As I'm leaving, is there anything I should ..." His words were cut short as the being began to chant a mystic evocation, which sounded alot like the one for fireball.

Turning on his heels, he ran from the crypt, down the path, until he bumped into a group of hins and dwarves headed in that direction. "I wouldn't go down there if I were you ..."

I'm playing with a human cleric, called Beofar Hornstar. He might be recognisable by the brown armor and helmet he is wearing.

I just had my first ALFA experience and it was fun. I did some quests for Lord Morn, just to get started and a spellcaster called Satina (I think. It has only been a few minutes and I already forgot her name) was kind enough to help me. Most of the other players I encountered were nice and helpfull. To bad I couldn't stay on longer, I still had one more quest to finish, but perhaps I'll be on tonight again. If I am on tonight it won't be any earlier than 11 CET (+1 GMT).

Anyway, I'm looking forward meeting some of you on ALFA, some time.

Math, you were right, it is an addiction. Once you pop, you can't stop.

I was on last night, playing with my new character. I teamed up with this Satine again, it seems like she also recently died, but she started playing again with the same character. When I die, I plan to play with a new character, every time. My new character also died yesterday, but luckily, Satine was around to save me. Together with Satine and a gnome named Bado, I did a few quests. I came across the body of Beofar, which Satine tried to heal. I didn't want to spoil the mood, by saying that he was my old character, who died foolishly, thinking he could take on a powerful enemy by himself.

I won't be on tonight, I have a game of PnP D&D, but maybe I'll encounter some SPers tomorrow. (If you are still in Daggerdale.) If you encounter a young half-elf bard, with green hair, say 'hi', and if you give me a coin, I might sing a song for you. ;)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that his name is Aendhiir, but there can't be that many green haired elves in the Forgotten Realms.

I am a green-haird elf ... with horns.

Thank you for asking! ;)

I am also an elvish pin-cushion.

It all happpened (cue story music) ....

when Hallen (BTA), a young druid with an "A" name and I hooked up with some dwarves for some "semi-safe" orc hunting. I ran to find Merry, and we charged into the night.

Rungar descided orcs were too light for his pickings, so he marched directly south to the lair of the Lizardmen. We battled a few successfully, but then another group appeared across the river. I fired upon them, hoping my comrads would charge, but as they moved into the fray, many poisoned arrows pirced my flesh. Borax Soulcleaner brought me back to consiousness urging me to flee ... but everything was in slow motion. I tried to run, but it seemed my legs would not move. More arrows pierced me, and I died before hitting the ground.

My comrads avenged my death upon the lizards, and for nine hours carried my body in silent vigil to the priestess in Daggerdale. There they pooled their money (after searching my pockets for gold) and paid to raise me from the dead.

Aramis is now a bit more hesitent, wondering why is prayers go unanswered, and in debt to many friends. He's also glad they just didn't descide to collect the 100 gold bounty on his head!

(ooc ... I'm knocked back down to first level, but just over half way to second ... special thanks go out BTA & Capt. Tripps (Merry) for both the coin, and the trip back to town. I'll be more careful of those arrows next time Capt! ;) )

Healers need to learn to stablize, not restore, during combat. Merry saw you go down, thats why he was standing over you firing as fast as he could at the lizardman so that you could be healed safely. Lizardmen have a odd set of priorities too, when Merry started to fire at the lizardman it shot back at him even though it in melee with Rutgar at the time.

I reinstalled my game becouse i upgraded to 1.30 and didnt know it wont work that way. And now i've got 1.11 and i cant login into Daggerdale.

And it would take lots of time to find out which patch is correct on the forums.

So i'm asking...With which patch should i upgrage my NwN with?

All i found were update from any version to 1.30.

I'm censidering updating to 1.30 and then get revert patch to 1.29.

Has anyone done this? Does it work for ALFA?

EDIT: It does work! :D

Yay, i'm happy  I can play on ALFA again.

W00t! It was a great a couple of days ago, I was on for the whole day none stop :D

***
From the Diary of Taemarya Vion, Druid of the circle and Protecter of Arien.

Yesterday was terrible...
It all started out side Daggerfalls. I was bored, sitting and snoozing by an abandoned fire in River Gate. The constent pacing of the guards around me. Hmm...
I watched a small adventuring group venture in, and sit by the fire next to me. Staying where I was, I listened in on their conversation.
"Well. That was nasty, eh Monrath?"
"Aye...those undead... atleast they've been put to rest now."
"Mirt, why don't you go off and report our progress to Lord Morn?"
"Aye" A tall human wondered away from the firelight and towards the city, disappearing behind the gates. Two others rested there, an elf, and a small gnome.
I wondered up to them, greeting them, and they greeted me back.
They told me that they had been venturing down to the crypys north of Dagger Falls. The undead had been powerful, and I managed to heal the gnome of a few of his wounds.
Monrath, the elf asked me if he would join them heading back down into the crypts to clear the restless. I agreed, saying it would be an interesting respite.
Mirt and Holger returned to the fire, and we were joined by another two, a monk called Qian and an archer, Gravis if I remember correctly.
We were about to set off, when a paniced villager ran up to us.
The undead were riasing in there masses in the crypts and graveyards. Pulling out our weapons, the six of us ran full pelt to the graveyard. We were met by the first wave of undead. Zombies and skeletons, both casters and fighters. They were soon put to rest, but no sooner had they been killed then another wave set down on us.
Monrath told me to run back to the temple to try and get the aid of any clerics that Lathander could spare. The undead were overwhelming us. At the temple I found a cleric, Erthen, I told him to run ahead to the crypts, I searched a little longer for any others. Nobody who could aid us. Suddenly, I was suffused with a white light, weightlessness, and when my sight returned I was outside the crypts, the bodies of the undead littering the ground.

((damn, bell for next lessons gone, I'll update this post at home. ))

Since Mathetais now has a panther companion I guess I had best explain why Merry's so afraid of cats.

[cutting huge pieces of his bio]

Merry was captured by a nomadic tribe in the Desertmouth Mts. This tribe had become companions with the large cats that also lived in these mountains and the cats would breed in the camps. One of their favorate night time entertainments was to place captives in a large pit and allow the kittens to "play" with them. Merry's ransom was not paid and he became a favorite plaything of the kittens due to his size. A shaman kept Merry from ever being killed, but cuts and bruises were not healed.

[cutting more portions of bio]

When Merry first came to Daggerdale he came across a group of people sitting by a campfire near the gates to town one night. He went over and introduced himself and was invited to sit down and warm himself. Several Rangers and druids came by and some of them had cat companions, this made him nervous, but he reassured himself that nobody would allow him to be a play toy here. Soon a large cat came over and sat next to the fire and Merry edged around so that the fire was between them. This cat seemed more intelligent then most and noticed Merry's attempts to keep away and began to chase him. Knowing that a straight chase would give him no chance, Merry ran around the fire, thinking that someone would call the cat off or otherwise help him. Sadly this never happened, it wasn't until the third turn around the fire that someone even noticed that he was being chased, and by this time the cat had caught up with Merry. The cat then knocked Merry to the ground and sat on him. Nobody around the fire seemed to see anything wrong with this and Merry's slight fear of cats has now developed into a full blown paranoia

Last night was fun. I had my first 'real' adventure. All the quests I did before were static quest, or helping other people with their static quests. I was never online at the right time, because that is often late in the evening here in Europe. Yesterday however, I just was in the right place, at the right time.

From the journal of Aendhiir, a young traveling bard.

Yesterday, I got some inspiration for a story, and decided to write it down, before I forgot it again. I sat on a stone, just outside the River Gate of Dagger Falls, when a group of adventurers came by me. Jacha was one of them, I met her before. She really has a problem with following the rules, and she has no respect for the Freedom Fighters, guarding the city, but I like her. A few of the adventurers went into the city, to see if Lent Dian had any work for them. I talked with Jacha for a while, at the camp fire, but when her friends returned, they told us that some bandits were spotted near by, and Lent Dian asked them to investigate. This seemed like a way, for me to earn some gold pieces, and I asked if I could go with them. Rugnar Ironstar, Voran Ma'ferm, Vii'th El'gas, Jacha Lomong, and I left for the waterfalls. At the last moment, we were also joined by another young bard called Hobbie Underdukes.

We travelled towards the waterfalls, and there were indeed a lot of bandits. They didn't seem willing to talk, so we killed them all in self defense. There were some excellent bow men in our party, and they were no watch for us. We followed the trail to Eagles Eyrie, where it seemed they had made a camp. Inside Eagles Eyrie were even more bandits, and some powerful spellcasters. Rugnar died in battle, but we had to find out why all the bandits were near the city. Voran lead the way, when we went into a room, which was filled with zombies and skeletons. After we dealed with them, I saw a note on one of the pile of bones. The note stated that a man named Colderan the mage-king wanted revenge for his dead wife Belesaria, and claims to slay everybody in Daggerdale in seven days. At least he gave us a notice a week in advance, so we could prepare our forces. We went back to the authorities to report this and they were very grateful. They wanted to reward us with money, which we spend on brining our fallen friend, Rugnar, back from the death. I still don't have a coin in my pockets, but I think we did the right thing.

I don't know what exactly will happen in seven days, but I'm sure a lot of blood will be spilled. I thought about running to another dale, or even Waterdeep, but I decided to stick around. My the gods have mercy on us all.

Sir Belisarius
Wed, 9th Jul '03, 12:13pm
Great story! I was wondering about that Colderan...A few of us met him ealry last week. He was acting quite odd. You may want to report this to Lord Morn the next time you're in the city...Or find his chief investigator, Rem Stoneybrook. He's very good...From what I hear. ;)

You are Jacha? Well, that's unexpected. Jacha is actually fun to hang out with, never a dull moment.

and she lived quite long You mean she is dead? That would be to bad. Probably killed by one of the guards who couldn't take her insults anymore. ;)

I see I'm not the only one planning new characters, while the current character is still alive. Aendhiir is fun to play, but I have at least two others I would like to try out.

Don't look for Math anytime soon. RL is a pain, had my last character in the ant colony and the baby wailing, my wife screaming, so I had my animal guard me, set parry mode, checked the baby, came back and was dead. So much for Sabor.

Working on a new idea now ... getting back to my roots!

Thu, 10th Jul '03, 3:40pm
You're kidding Mat! Sheesh. I've never even encountered wandering ants in there, I'd have thought that if you found a place with no ants in sight, you'd have been fine...

And I can't believe that an ant or two could kill you and your panther... Weird... Did you check your log to see what happened?

So did Sabor make it to 2nd level at least?

Had some fun last night, but lost Higgy to the Water Elementals. Not sure exactly how because we finished off the attackers without him and I hauled his ass all the way back to Lathander's temple (that's the second time I've carried his dead weight :) ). Higgy thought a full Resurrection would negate the XP loss... Apparently it doesn't :)

One thing about death and resurrection in ALFA I don't like is that no matter where you are in your current level, you always end up at the midpoint of the level before, so the closer you are to the next level the more severe the penalty, and it's even worse than if you made it to the next level at some point. For example, if you are at the threshold of level 4 and die, you lose 3999XP, but if you got that one extra XP before dying, you'd only lose 1500XP. That's a huge difference for a 1XP disparity between the cases.

Maybe I'll post on ALFA about this one of these days; I have a couple ideas that I think are much more reasonable.

Mathetais

It is so that you can use weapons which are favourite by your deity right?

I just had a wonderful idea about a druid (my favourite class ever in all games :D ) wielding a big scythe in both arms. And its Chauntea's prefered weapon so its RP quite suitable for a druid. He'll certainly look cool... and he wont be to powerful either (not that it would be a problem if it were ;) ).

Yeah!
Now i just need to know if that is so tha you can use you'r deity's weapon... I think i read that somewhere but i'm not completely certain.

Mathetais
Fri, 11th Jul '03, 2:27pm
Bad news ... in ALFA you cannot use your dieties favored weapon if it is outside of the druid's normal choices.

Good news ... I think scyth is allowable .. you have to choose an exotic weapon feat to use it, but then you should be okay.

Check out This thread from the ALFA board (http://www.alandfaraway.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=10288) for more information.

Technically, even though all elves are proficient with bows, an elvish druid would not use one. That's what killed the fun of my druid for me.

Gothmog•
Fri, 11th Jul '03, 4:42pm
Hmmm... It may be technicaly that elven druids cant use bows, but i've seen plenty of them on DaggerDale and the all of them use bows.

I dont agree with druidic selection of weapons but that doesnt really belong here...

Well, eventhough i've played druid quite some time in NwN i didnt come across any feat he should have. Sure, lots of'em are useful but none is vital. Thats why i'll probably just take Exotic weapon prof.
But that will come at lvl3... IIRC the requirement is min. BAB 1 And thats not something a lvl1 druid has :)

EDIT:
So, if i get that right ALFA druids should not use any other weapons than those that their oath allows.
But weapon restriction is not implemented so this is based on fairness of the players and DM enforcing.

Where did you see scytle is an exception?

As I understand it, the ALFA stance on druid weapons is that they can only use those that are listed in the PHB description of the class: club, dagger, dart, halfspear, longspear, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear and sling. In the PnP game, a druid that uses any weapon other than those listed above will lose his druidic abilities for 24 hours. Since this can't really be monitored in ALFA, the ruling is no other weapons for druids.

Personally, I could see a druid using a bow or a scythe as these don't seem particularly 'undruid-like'. But, them's the rules ;)

Merry has renounced Mask and sought sanctuary in the temple of Yondalla. He now prays that the All-Mother will forgive him but knows he will never be able to leave the temple. Tymora smiled though and one of the Ironstars was there when Merry told what Mask had put him up to in Daggersdale.

Gothmog: Go to www.alandfaraway.net (http://www.alandfaraway.net), and select Members Login. After entering your login info, click the "Here" link to see the IP addresses for every ALFA server, and the stage of the servers (Beta 1,2,3, Live). You can then connect directly to any of the Beta servers that are currently up and running.

P.S. Do NOT click the Retire Character button. It pays to know where this is, so you don't mistakenly retire your current ALFA Live character ;)

I'm an ant farmer? I was working from home and every hour or two logging in for a 20 min ant-stomping spree. Heh, got me killed.

My new PC has a good motive to collect those exoskeletons ... he wants free heavy armor. I'm going to try to get 50 or so and see if I cna't get plate mail.

Gothmog•
Sun, 13th Jul '03, 9:07pm
I've always wondered about this thing... If you get heavier armor if you bring more exoskeletons.

I guess it works then.

Now I know why that random/merhandise/mechant had so many ant exoskeletons once that i checked with him :) ;)

Another thing i'm wondering... XP is dependant on your level. Lets say lvl 1 gets 50XP for something. Lvl2 gets 100XP for the same job (for instance). Now, does lvl3 guy get 150 or 200 XP? (i never got to 3 level :( )

I'm really questioning the logic of that rule, though. Xp requirements for the next levelup are there for a reason... Weak characters level fast (not in ALFA ;) ) and more powerful ones are to level slower.
I think that there's a good point to this rule... i fail to see why ALFA is almost ignoring it.

From the journal of Aendhiir, a young traveling bard.

"It doesn't make any sense. A few days ago Rugnar, Hobbie, Vii'th, Voran, Jacha and I stumbled upon a message from Colderan the mage-lord, saying he wanted to kill everybody in Daggerdale. Today I was sitting outside of the River Gate again, when this Colderan suddenly appeared. I thought hell would break loose, but Rem Stoneybrook tried to negotiate with him. I myself was preparing for a fight, but it didn't come to that. We could have taken him out, we were with at least ten, and could have handled this all today. I shared some usefull information with the group present at that time (more like yelling things about Colderan's dead girlfriend, with him present, which actually pissed him off), but I think Colderan knows we are prepared for him. It seemed I had given some people new information and they decided to inform the dwarves that life nearby. Emon Eaglesclaw, Tandal Patchman, Sir Charles Riftwind, Rhekka Vanterox left for the dwarven city, and I went with them. I seemed to be the only one who knew about Colderan's message, and thanks to my bardic skills, I remembered it word by word, and told it to the dwarven lore master.

We returned to town, and on our home journey, I was told that others had seen a message from Colderan too, carved in the bones of a dead dwarf, today even, and that they summoned Colderan from the dead. Some of our party went looking for Rem, but they never returned. Tandal, Rhekka and I waited for them, but they probably went searching for Colderan without us. Why should I even care what happens to Daggerdale? Let him destroy it all. I was tired of waiting and went for the pub. I don't care if Colderan destroys Daggerdale, I just hope I'm away from it by the time he does. There was nothing I could have done, and doing nothing with an ale in your hand, is better than doing nothing and wait.

I haven't been thinking clear for the last few days, which has partly to do with not enough sleep. If this thing gets serious I might leave for Waterdeep, Arabel or my home town Silverymoon. Maybe my opinion changes in the morning, when I have rested and the effects of this dwarven ale are gone."

Seriously and out of character, I really don't get this plot. Not knowing what the DM's are planning is annoying, I even think the DM's are not working together and have their own ideas about this Colderan. If some people today (real time) saw a message that he will destroy everything in seven days (ALFA time), and we saw probably the same message a few days ago (real time), wouldn't he have started already? Seven days (ALFA time) must have past since last Tuesday (real time).
This plot also involves too many characters, and non of them know the entire story. Not even the man in charge, Rem Stoneybrook a.k.a. Sir Belisarius knows it all (correct me if I'm wrong). I've been thinking about forgetting this all and starting with a new character, also in Daggerdale. But like Aendhiir, I haven't had the best rest in the last few days.

On the bright side, I met Mathetais online today. It made me realize something; I really need to change my name from Silverblade to something else, but let's not start that discussion here. If you are looking for me on the ALFA message boards, I'm not this guy called Slail Silverblade, but I am registered as Mesmero.

Gothmog, you don't get more XP for the same job if you're higher in level. Actually I believe you eventually get less (based on what Rem gets for solo killing ants at his level vs. what I get). What ALFA has done is if you're in a party, the total XP is split among the group, with the higher level characters getting a bigger percentage of the total.

When you become more involved in the storyline, levelling becomes less of an issue. Sure, it's nice to gain more power...But I don't log in hoping to level.

I usually just walk around talking to people...and things just seem to happen. I go out hunting/patrolling with Hallen when things are slow...But for the most part, I just wander Dagger Falls looking for buyers for my unique/hard to find weapons and gear.

I actually had a banner day in sales yesterday! So much so, I was able to purchase 2 very nice crossbows!

Seriously, when I log on looking to level, I usually die. Perma-death makes ALFA a bit more challenging and, hence, lower level based.

I did see that there was a 12th level guy online yesterday! Didn't get to meet him, but that is quite an accomplishment

The funny thing is...Most of the really high level characters are unknown to me. Which means 1 of 2 things:

1) They are from another server

2) They are cheesey powergamers only interested in gaining levels.

There are characters that have only been playing for like 3 weeks and are 8th level already (Falling Leaf and Rugnar...All they do is camp) I've never had any of them join in the major quests, yet they are powerful!

I knod of like the fact that most of my experience comes from furthering the story of the Dale...Not camping for xps.

Honestly, if I could quickly powergame my way to third level, I'd be very happy. I think at lvl 3-4 you have enought skill that the random bugbear won't bring you down, you can back up some IC actions, but you still need to be cautious.

I do enjoy furthering the plot lines and interacting with folk, but I hate being the whimp of the party too.

Oh well .. patience ... right? ;)

vvv on your comment, I don't really need to solo the kobald caved, but it would be fun to be able to not have to hide in the back during events like you describe below. Great writing by the way! vvvv

I dunno Math...I've been popped a few time by kobolds when I am out alone...But then again...Rogues are not the best solo fighters. Here's a story from last night:

As Rem strolled up to the Crossroads outside the River Gate, he hoped to hawk some of his wares to the large group of adventurers milling around at the cmapfire. “Anyone interested in this finely crafted longbow?” Rem asked as he addresssed the crowd. He found a buyer just as Malek began to tell him a tale of his latest exploits. Malek claimed he and some other adventurers released some ghost in the Eagles’ Eyrie. He said that he spoke aloud runes carved into a dwarven skull he found. As he began to continue, a wizard in blue emerged from the River Gate.

The wizard towered over Rem and taunted him about the poor ruling of Daggerdale by Lord Morn, and the blind allegiance of his councillors. “I prefer Lord Morn’s rule over the Zhents, drow, or…you. If that’s what you mean.” Was Rem’s only reply. The throng of adventurers became figgity, and began to brandish weapons, as if expecting a fight. As Rem asked the wizard what his business with the Dale was, a voice cried out.

“It’s Colderan! The Blue Wizard!” Aendhiir the elf cried out from the mass of people crowding the crossroads. All heads turned to hear him, even the wizard seemed interested. Aendhiir spoke of a letter he found that said the wizard Colderan would destroy Daggerdale with his army of undead. That he would get revenge for the death of his wife (girlfriend?) Belesaria, in a weeks’ time. “Five days, actually.” The wizard replied, a wickedly coldgrin framed his face as he spoke. “The city, and all it’s inhabitants will be destroyed in FIVE days! You are fools! And there is nothing you can do to stop it!” He cackled. As he did so, he began to call upon arcane magics, his form was encased in a shimmering globe, and a ring of fire surrounded him as he walked away.

Rem watched him go as a young lass named Anaya followed after him. “I do not trust that girl.” Rem decided as he watched her dispappear down the Black Road. As he turned to face the crowd. All of them were deciding what to do about the wizard’s threat, and urged Rem to give chase and arrest the wizard. Scratching his chin, Rem seemed torn between decisions. “Aye” he said. “Although he is a gruff an insulting old wizard, he has only threatened….He has not acted. There is not much I can do…For now”

Malek suggested that we send warnings to the Ironstars and to Daggersprings. Malek and a small band went to the enclave, while Arakiel raced off to warn DaggerSprings. Arianna, Thark the dwarf, and I went to inform Lord Morn of the danger. As we set off, Anaya returned and said she saw Colderan with two orcs. She joined our company and set off for the Freedom Fighters Headquarters. To my surprise, Lord Morn was less than receptive to this threat. After telling him of the events at the gate, and of several other encounters the Dalesfolk have had with this wizard, Lord Morn also told us that he has been having difficulties in the renovation of Constable’s Tower…and that Colderan, his grandfather, was the last one to rule from the Tower.

Although he was skeptical that Colderan had returned, he did order us to seek out this Colderan, and to capture him if possible. We set out in search of him with Anysha the wizard, Anaya, Thark, Glen Eyre, (I’m forgetting someone here…Post if it’s you!), and Arianna. After looking throughtout the city, we decided to look at the Constable’s Tower. It appeared we found what we are looking for…

The Tower was swarming with orcs! Arriana and I stalked ahead of the group, making every attempt to take out the orc shaman’s preventing our entry to the lower levels of the Tower. We were still getting used to one another’s fighting style…Rem learned not to get so close to the orcs when Anysha lets loose her fireballs! Thank Tymora I was able to evade the blast in time. After clearing the first level, we descended into the storage areas for the Tower.

The fighting down there was cramped and fierce! Huge minotaurs, orcs, and strange-looking armored minotaurs barred our way. Luckily, Malek, Dain, Sir Charles Riftwind, and Emon Eaglesclaw, joined us to as we entered some of the larger storage areas. The orcs and bull warriors continued to assault us as we pushed our way through the Tower. The ringing of metal clashing with metal, the whizzing of arrows, and the booming voice of wizards and priest drawing power to their command, swirled in a chorus grim death.

Finally, as we edged toward the Southernmost chamber, our quarry appeared. The blue wizard was upon us. The party did not stop to bandy words with the foe, as he was wreathed in magical protections. Arrows and bolts bounced of this proctective shell like a childs ball as it hits the ground. Anysha unleashed wave after wave of her arcane power, as Malek and Dain closed to melee with him. Our attack was fierce, and it finally wore down the lone wizard’s defenses, as he fell in a heap. Relief washed over us as we neautralized yet another threat to the Dale. But our elation was short lived.

As we continued down the hallway, the wizard appeared again. “You fools! You have no idea what you are up against! You feeble mortals cannot possibly destroy me! You will pay! You will ALL pay!” He bellowed as he faded from sight. Undaunted, we gave chase after the evil minion. Finally, we reached a storeroom at the Southernmost area of the Storehouses. Dain, feeling confident, rushed ahead of me to look inside the room. Dozens of orcs, and several minotaurs crowded the room, and attacked Dain on sight. Again, the battle was on!

The beasts’ terrible onslaught pushed the majority of the adventurers back out into the hall, leaving Dain, Thark, Emon and I to finish those in the room. My crossbow sang as I tried to keep the rushing defenders off Dain, the others moved out of the room to assist our companions. With a huge swipe of his greataxe, the last Minotaur felled Dain, he crashed to floor in a heap as my bolt slammed into the monsters’ chest. Dain cried out for assistance. Thinking quickly, I reached into my pack a used a medicine bag on the fallen dwarf. I bandanged his wounds to the point he was able to stand, and he completed his healing by calling on the power of his god.

As we exited the stroreroom, we found another party member was not so lucky. Sir Charles lay dead on the cold stone, yet another victim of the Tower. The party, weary and battered, wanted to return to the surface. I asked them to help me with the remaining foes in the room, because I saw something strange in there. We were able to defeat the remaining orcs quickly, and we all gazed in wonder at the reason for their staunch defense. A glowing portal!

Not daring to press our luck by using the portal, we decided to return to the city to inform Lord Morn of what we found. We gathered our fallen, and returned to the Freedom Fighters’ Headquarters. After taking a collection, we were able to restore Sir Charles to life, but Lord Morn was not to be found. I thanked the party for their bravery and assistance, and went to my office to write my report on the nights’ events. It seems we found more questions, and little answers.

It's nice to read the story from another one's point of view. It makes things a bit clearer. If I may post a few comments:

“It’s Colderan! The Blue Wizard!” Aendhiir the elf cried out from the mass of people crowding the crossroads. All heads turned to hear him, even the wizard seemed interested. Aendhiir spoke of a letter he found that said the wizard Colderan would destroy Daggerdale with his army of undead. That he would get revenge for the death of his wife (girlfriend?) Belesaria, in a weeks’ time. “Five days, actually.” 1. I didn't yell “It’s Colderan! The Blue Wizard!”, I remember calling him the mage king, but it was something like that.
2. I'm a half-elf
3. I called this Belesaria his girlfriend, to bully him a bit, and to provoke a fight. I even thought about just shooting an arrow at him to start the fight, but decided not to do this.
4. On what day (real time) is five days later (ALFA time)?
5. Now that I think of it, the whole story makes a bit more sense, and I'm even understanding, what I didn't understood before (see above for details).

Luckily, Malek, Dain, Sir Charles Riftwind, and Emon Eaglesclaw, joined us to as we entered some of the larger storage areas. I and two others went to look for Rem in the temple of Lathander and they went to the Freedom Fighters HQ. They should have came back for us, so we could travel with them. I was kind of upset about this. I could see next to the party pictures, that they were fighting, and they suddenly left the party. If there was a fight, I would have liked to be present.

In the beginning, Aendhiir was a coward, but he is evolving into someone who is looking for a fight, especially when he is in a larger party. He is the one in the front line, trying to score some kills, and often trying to take the lead. Maybe it doesn't fit in his personality as a bard, but I like him better this way. He may even have some sort of suicidle tendencies, I haven't decided yet.

I'll be online again tomorrow, looking for kicking some Colderan butt.

I wanted to edit more, but the story captured the base idea of it all, so I decided not to. Whenever I experience something like this, I usually take a lot of screenshots, which is often usefull for remembering names (I can name everybody who was on the cross road at that time). When we went to the dwarves after meeting Colderan, I was able to recite the entire message, because of a screen shot I had printed. To stay IC, I told them that I remembered it word by word, because I was a bard and depended on perfectly remembering stories to make some money.

And besides, good editing skills are needing, to make sure I find all my spelling mistakes, in the posts I make here.

Well, I sure had a lively evening. First, I did not fight a single creature. The whole night was spent role playing ... which was really fun.

Galen Malenhyst, paladin of Lathander and emissary from Evermeet, sent a courier to Daggerfalls and requested and audience with Lady Arien of the Grove. She graciously condescended to meet with me, and I traveled the long road to her village.

Galen was fresh from his previous evening's battles with lizard folk, and was even wearing his new, golden lizard folk armor, a gift from the noble counselor Rem. Thinking back, however, Galen can not be sure if the twinkle in Rem's eye was generosity, or the beginnings of a practical joke.

As Galen exited the River Gate of the main town, Elzerek asked him if he felt comfortable going out in public dressed like that. Confused but bold Galen replied affirmatively and traveled onward.

At the village, Azarkiel first turned his nose up at the idea of lizard armor, then began to chuckle and make minor comments about the masculinity of the armor. When "Da" Babras and Kerrick showed up, the conversation began to be littered with little comments questioning Galen's sexuality. Soon it became apparent to the noble but naive paladin that this golden suit of armor made him look like a Waterdeep Dandy boy.

Knowing when to laugh at himself, Galen enjoyed the jest, though he did hint that Babras could remedy the situation with a set of minthril field plate, similar to what he wore .... but that did not even warrant a reply.

Galen left the evening awe-struck by the peaceful soul of Arien, and driven to win himself a new set of armor. Lets see if he lives to capture either treasure!

Seriously, it is indeed good armor and I won't replace it until I have better.

BTA, he's a paladin of Lathander, but holds the Elven Pantheon in high regard, mentioning them frequently.

So, until I'm goo ... thanks for the heterosexual support!

Some of the more notable comments on the armor:

"I hope it resists fire, because it definitely won't resist ridicule!"

Tell to Babras as he is scolding Arien, "Is there an emote for a good spanking?"
Babras' reply, "I wish you hadn't asked while wearing *that* armor, now leave me alone b*tch!"

Kerrick, "Don't change your armor Galen, it brings much laughter to a troubled Dale."

Yoha, guys :D

I've been on my holiday for the past week. Hoped that i'll finaly see some live PnP being played. Too bad i didnt. Just spoke to one guy who plays it :(

And i've played some NwN on other servers than ALFA (A guy here wanted to have 1.30 patch so i couldnt login). And really they're quite boring !
Its fun for some time to have a half-orc barbarian (20 12 16 6 8 6  ) Lvl 20 with 320hp dealing about 35 damage every hit with any weapon. :nolike:
But then you come across some REAL powerplayers with their lvl20 monks with 60 AC.
And you cant even hope to hit the guy unless you throw a natural 20!

As i said it gets really boring. :nono:

Gotta love getting back to ALFA :D

Way to go with that armor! ;) :thumb:

Yo people why dont you update your characters up here in the right topic?

Its nice to meet a SPer on ALFA

And dont tell me you are living for a month without dying, leveling or anything ;)

We were heading to light the way... no problems there. Then we went to search for the goblin camp... in Dagger Hills. First area was fine, killing two groups of bloody dagger tribe goblins (IIRC). Then in the second area it started to get waaay worse.
As soon as we got in (myself and another guy first) i saw a dead body. I ran to it hoping it hasnt been looted yet  Sure its been

The problem was that others started a war against another goblin group killed all but one goblin elite (you know how strong those are :( ). And in addition a Dire wolf (!) came around from the corpse attacking me  . Almost bite my head off that one... was left with 2hp and convinced i'm already dead. Luckily folks started to shoot him and it didnt attack me again.
The goblin fell then and we were left with the wolfie. Yashin Hamir as with us (only guy above 1lvl  3rd he was) and he took the beast on. They fought and both were really badly hurt. Then finaly a lucky throw of my axe finished the beast off.

After that we just went straight back to the city.

P.S: I just screwed up 4 static quest rewards :bang: :bang:
I didnt exit the party before i received it. Just got 10gp and 20XP for each!
Sure its RP wise to do so but i'm still sad :(

Oh, well, I'm back to level 2 AGAIN because that crazy Hin Rem has a knack for getting me into serious trouble.

Went to the Elemental Tower with Rem, Yuki (a powerful Cleric) and Galen (Mathetais). Everything was fine and dandy until we go to the place through the teleporting doors. Something I had never seen there before just happened to be there this time: the Elemental Sorcerer himself!

First I realized he was there was when I was hit with the first Fireball which took 25 out of my 29 hitpoints. I ran forward and avoided the second fireball that killed Galen (I think, unless it was the first one that did him in).

I then went on the total defensive, just trying to avoid the Sorcerer and the Water Elementals, but I got tagged for 9 hitpoints of damage from an Elemental Pulse Attack.

So there I lay bleeding to death, the Sorcerer was gone (not sure who killed it) and there were only two normal sized Elementals left. Rem got put to sleep before the Sorcerer was killed, so Yuki was the only one in any position to prevent me from heading straight to the Fugue Plane.

Well, I guess despite my dying groans and pleas for help, it was more important to Yuki to finish off those last two Elementals than to cast a quick heal spell on me.

At least she and others pitched in to raise me, so I'm still alive, and my body wasn't looted, so it could have been much worse. But I lost my Rapid Shot for the second time, and I was again within inches of 4th level! Gaaah!

I think I'm cursed, or maybe Rem is my curse :) He comes around when I'm close to 4th level to make sure I don't make it ;)

Hehe, i feel sorry for your bard <insert new PDN here> :hahaerr:
Hey, i met you today!
In the mines you were getting some exoskeleton wit Valydr (or something) the berserker. You stole my ants right in front of my nose!
Hehe, i got them by now. I was that half-orc, Roshnak.

I probably did a wise decision today.
Roshnak was with couple of buddies (damn powerhauses all lvl5+ ) and killed a few Zhents. One DM generated group and the patrol for me to make the quest.

Then we realized we were hell of a force (There were about 6 lvl5+ guys) and tried to decide which monsters are the biggest nuisance to the DD.
We said thats mountain beasts. The thing is i was the only lvl1 guy there  So they advised me not to go hunting the mountains. Sure i could survive if i went but perhaps i wouldnt... you never know when you get an killer arrow in your face.
And i already have about 750XP

So i went to sleep (IC) and making cookies(OOC).

EDIT:
One quick question: The smith in White Chalk Hollow that makes armor out of ant shells. If you give him 10 exoskeletons and the queen one you get a medium armor + tower shield + helm.
Now i'fe heard you can give him more exoskeletons to make you better armor.

So, can he make full plate and how many exoskeletons does he need for that?

That should teach you BTA - you just can't trust those hin ;)

If Yuki had healed you above 0 while the fight was still going on, there's a good chance you would have died again anyways. And that is *so* annoying. Especially when there are archers or an enemy mage with a few magic missiles handy.

Yeah, if I didn't know better I'd think that Rem guy was doing it on purpose! ;)

But that was the whole thing Gnolyn: The Sorcerer was gone and there were only two melee-only monsters left (there was actually only one left when I died, but I'm not sure if there was enough time to get healed after that).

I think I had a great chance of surviving even if I had healed just over 0. Eh, but it's water under the bridge now, and like I said, at least I'm still alive. I'm even back to 3rd level with my Rapid Shot again, so I'm happy. :)

Also...Yuki may not be what she claims...Does anyone even know what her deity is? I NEVER go anywhere alone with her...Just my two cents...It may be unfounded...But there it is.

By the way....about you dying with me around. That just hurts, man! ;) :p

I had a (crazy) idea this morning: The Knights of Sorcerer's Place (or maybe Taluntain's Angels, I haven't decided how to call it). Nothing special, just the SPers going on an adventure together. We'll make a great team; Math, Sir Bel, Gothmog, BTA and I (Gnolyn and Frostbite are also welcome to join if you are on Daggerdale). If you all think it is a good idea, I might be able to convince a DM to make a special quest for us. Convincing the DM might be hard, but if I mention the great Rem Stoneybrook will be in the party, it might be easier.

Wow Silvy!!!

Thats a GREAT idea if you ask me

I can be the frontline... very soon i'll be 3rd level with lots of (43)HP and i hit quite surely too. And i have enough money to buy myself much-needed big iron (full plate)

But you'll have to direct me at every step... i'm likely to get lost. ;)

We'd have: frontliner(me Roshnak)
Scout/backup fighter (BTA)
rogue complete scout (Bel)
Another backup fighter - pally (Silvy)

Now i dont know what characters Math, Gnolyn and Frostbite play.
One serious flaw though... we have no healer. And you know how is that hard in ALFA.

Edit:
Oh, man Whats wrong with people?!?
I've been attacked twice now... in two days!
First time was completely for no reason... i was AFK and when i get back i see some guy beating **** out of me.... i was already at 5hp only... i ran and screamed what is he doing!
He summoned a hell hound and attacked me again... i killed him in one blow though.
I mean WHY?
At least he'd say something... like he hates orcs or anything.... but nothing... just attacks.

And now was the second time a minute ago. I met a guy Mord something... He said he needs help to clean out the crypt. Roshnak is nices and likes to help so he went along. We partied and he was lvl2 cleric apparently...22hp full life. And i had 23hp and my rage.
He summoned a dire badger... and casts mage armor on himself (cleric domain magic)... i though to help kill the zombies... but then.

At least this guy said he's been hearing that a halfbreed like me was attacking the people in DD. Then he wanted all my money or i'd die.

Roshnak not give up easily so he Rages and attacks the bad man!
Damn bastard was good and got me down to 2hp... then my mighty blow killed him... then the idiot logged off. Just that i wouldnt get my deserved loot!

I really dont know... perhaps this was the same person... but he really picked up on me it seems... his player name is something like: a143183 (yeah, thats right... i remembered it becouse its so stupid). So watch out for him... He really seems an idiot!

But i have a BIG problem now... I'm in rage and have 2hp left... as soon as rage ends i'll probably be at -x. Thats damn bad!

Please, i would really need a healer there... Its OOC to be there when i log in but you were hunting zombies ;)
I know Silverblade can heal with his Brightaxe... lay on hands that is.
I just checked... i should still be in rage but server doesnt show that... it says i'm at -2. :(

If we could time each other so that i would log in and you'd heal me i would live :) And you'd surely have my help thereafter whenever you'd need it :)

Isn't that metagaming, that isn't allowed :nono: You should go to a cleric and let yourself be healed instead of asking for help OOC. And besides, I can't heal 3 hp. I can only heal 1 hp with my lay on hands ability. I intend to play by the rules for once :good:

Math is also a pally BTW. Galen Halenmyst, or Halen Galenmyst, or Malenhyst or something like that.

Mathetais

Galen Malenhyst ... who you can see lying in state in the Temple of Lathander. (don't ask ... uggghhhh, long story, ruined day)

I am now Blaise Lyonsbane. Cleric of Lathander, almost half-way to second level. I am a lawful good powerhouse, and the clumsiest PC I've ever played (10 Dex). I never realized how much I'd miss the +3 to AC and hit with bows. This is the worst AC I've had and my BAB is so bad with a crossbow that it took me over 50 arrows to kill eight zombies! The Villan in Black almost chased me back to the River Gate. After I licked my wounds and rested, I went back to fight him and found a dwarf engaged with the brute in hand to hand combat. I wanted the dwarf to get his full reward, so waited (he was uninjured) but the Villan got a few good licks in, so I charged in with my morning star, got a critical hit, and toppled the brute. The dwarf was near death, so didn't mind loosing the 9xp.

So, in short, you have a healer!

Adventuring together would be fine, but I only know Rem out of all of you so far, so there really isn't any reason for a DM to make an adventure around us.

We can certainly say when we'll be on and get to know one another (I usually get to know Mat's characters pretty quickly ;) ) and go adventuring together for a while, but before we're good friends IC and have common goals, I doubt a DM would take the time to make us an adventure.

They seem pretty busy already, since I still have not gotten one to repair my MW longbow yet. I almost got Kipper to do it Saturday, but then something more important came up, and he was too busy.

Where are you Gothmog? If you're inside the crypt, it's doubtful anyone would be there to heal you. If you're outside somewhere, then it might be possible, but I have no healing to give you even if I wanted to metagame it.

It is odd that Hallen has been able to strike up fast friendships with Altga, Aramis and Galen. He's just a likeable guy!!! Lets hope he and Blaise will get along as well.

On the adventure together ... the best thing would be for all of us to hit LVL 3, join Rem's Freedom Fighters, and then he can set us apart as the SP-Force. That would give us lots of IC reason to hang out. (now if I can just live to third level ...)

Mesmero

In case we don't hit 3rd level...

but before we're good friends IC and have common goals We don't have to be good friends IC to have common goals. A paladin of Moradin and a cleric of Lathander could probably work together without even knowing each other very well. I have been working together with Roshnak the barbarian (Gothmog), but we made a strange team; a barbarian and a paladin, with the barbarian being twice as big as the paladin. Some strange things must happen for a paladin and a rogue to work together. I think that we all play good characters or neutral character that lean towards good (correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't think we should go for the 'everybody was in the right place in the right time to except the quest'-approach. If one of us is given the quest, and he knows another person, who knows another person to help out, we could get the team together that way. We would trust another, by trusting the person who introduced them, when he says that person can be trusted. That idea actually sucks too.

The common goal would have to be something that is essential to every adventurer in Daggerdale. We don't share the same race, alignment, or class and except if you all come from Citadel Adbar, The Silver Marches, I can't really think of a goal that might be only essential to us.

I will contact HDM Memneth to ask if they are even willing to make a custom quest for a small adventuring party.

Goth, you should give Memneth a PM about this guy attacking you and then logging upon death. It's not inconcievable that he could have had a CLW potion on him and that could have saved you. Also this looks like griefing if the cleric isn't of evil allignment, inviting you into a party to take you out and kill you.

Oh and it's official now, I'm an ADM for Yartar.

Congrats Capt! You, Xenmaster and the lovely Arwn should have a wonderful time.

As you saw, I've already died on Yatar, so it is officially blessed with my blood! ;)

Wow we have a DM in our midsts

Ok, i'll send DD DM a message about that fight. But actually i'm more dissapointed in the first fight, becouse of completely no IC interaction and frontal assault.

Well, we are all of good alignment (i belive). Another thing is... I dont think one's profession or race makes a big difference in friendship. Sure its a bit harder to forge one, but after that its not of relevance anymore.
I belive that most of all which decides about who are you friends with is your character. Unless you're some great zealot of (actually any it doesnt matter) faith you should be able to accept a holy man who dedicated himself to a good god, if you're a good person as well.
Naturaly then comes characters attitude towards gods and their followers.

Talking about that know that Roshnak doesnt like gods. More about it IC.

Eh, i'm just babbling again

And...Whats griefing?

Blackthorne TA
Tue, 29th Jul '03, 10:24pm
Griefing is causing other players grief (usually killing their characters) just because you can, and you take pleasure in other players' (not characters') misery.

At an extreme, you kill their characters just so you can piss them off and then laugh at them and call them names afterwards to piss them off more.

Mesmero
Tue, 29th Jul '03, 10:30pm
Gothmog, I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying that race or class matters to make friendship, I was saying that different classes, alignment and/or races might have problems working together towards a common goal. A tactic to get the job done might not suite all the players. As a paladin, it is not my job to lie or cheat, which might seem the easiest way out, but my moral code says I should not behave like that. I could also not continue an association with someone who consistently offends my moral code.

Gothmog•

Hmmm... that i agree with yes :)

And in this aspect our would-be company goes quite well together i think.

Paladin chalenges his foes with his ritual challenge and then fights valiantly without fear until either evil is vanquished.
(Silverblade)

Barbarian enrages delivering poweful blows through his unmatched strenght fueled by his boiling anger, preventing him from fleeing cowardly.
(Gothmog)

Ranger has a different, more subtle approach to combat, prefering to weaken the enemie from afar before closing in on melee. Or even better keep the enemy at bay with your rain of arrows.
(BTA)

Rogue prefers to avoid direct combat all-together, but when necessary can strike with deadly accuracy from the shadows in which he was unseen a second ago. Not all rogues are murderers though... some are just survivours adept at avoiding danger and escaping unscathed where others fail.
In our case with Rem it is the later, and his goal is noble so this should not be a obstacle for even-so-noble paladin.
(Sir Belisarius)

Cleric or Lathander devotes his life to preserving good and life, sometimes matching paladins zealous desire to do good and punish evil, and at least matches if not surpasses paladins faith in his deity.
(Mathetais)

Why now... We're destined to make glorious forever remembered legends together, no? :holy:

Sounds like an interesting idea. Unfortunately, my character (Raina) is heavily involved in events on Arabel at the moment.

Tomorrow night, a small group of us (3 possibly 4) will be attempting to rescue a lone halfling from the clutches of a powerful orc tribe, the 'eaters of flesh'. We've spent two whole gaming sessions just preparing for this trek! Since the orc guards are level 10-12 equivalents, we'll be taking *great* care to not be seen or heard. We even hired the services of a Diviner to learn everything we can before we head out. If we live to tell the tale, I'll be sure to post it here, in-character.
