OK, time to change the name & description of this forum, since it obviously became something else than it was intended for.

View Full Version : Forum Morphing Taluntain Mon, 11th Aug '03, 12:13pm OK, time to change the name & description of this forum, since it obviously became something else than it was intended for. So, post your suggestions here. Sir Belisarius Mon, 11th Aug '03, 12:41pm You could just merge it into the NWN forum...I mean, when you get right down to it, we're only talking about NWN. Even though it's mostly ALFA stuff. Register Mon, 11th Aug '03, 12:44pm I say that it should get named "ALFA" or something else like that, otherwise people will start talking about non-ALFA stuff if you merges it with the normal NWN forum. Sir Belisarius Mon, 11th Aug '03, 1:17pm Call it: Adventure Online! That way, other online worlds could be dicussed here too...If there are any others worth mentioning.... ;) Mesmero Mon, 11th Aug '03, 1:45pm It depends whether it has to be a forum specificly for ALFA, or for NWN multiplayer/persistant worlds in general. If this forum remains an ALFA forum, a title like 'ALFA Adventures' (like the post), or just 'A Land Far Away' sounds good. A description could be: 'For posts concerning the persistant world of ALFA (http://www.alandfaraway.net)'. I would prefer a seperate ALFA forum, even though it doesn't interest most of the member of the BoM. If this has to become a forum for persistant worlds in general, I would suggest a title like 'Online Adventures' (or switched around like Sir Bel suggested) or 'Worlds Beyond Our Imagination' (it might be a bit long, but it was the most original title I could think of). A description could be: 'For posts concerning persistant worlds built for NWN'. Gothmog• Mon, 11th Aug '03, 3:23pm I would too like this forum seperated from NwN forum. But i'd include all multiplayer adventure in it, not just ALFA. More people would see what ALFA is all about. You can see there arent all that many people visiting Phlan crier. Getting more people to look at the forum would be attracting more of them to ALFA. I bet half of people on SP wouldnt know what ALFA is if asked. So i'd make something like: NwN multiplayer forum. Then when posting about ALFA you can just add ALFA: Adventures or something. Just like RC: blablabla on roleplay forum. Mathetais Mon, 11th Aug '03, 3:41pm It sounds like Tal is willing to let us have this forum contiune as is "content" wise, but we need a new name for it. (Truth is, I'd rather post this stuff here than on one of the ALFA or ALFA-knock-off boards ... this is "home" so thanks Tal!) I almost posted a Poll last week with some forum name ideas, but got too busy at work to get it up. (bad word choice there!) Here are a few name ideas I've had: Phlan and Beyond AORTA (good name, a shame to let it go to waste, but those sorts of factions aren't running right now) ALFA Adventures Dales, Deserts and Death Any more suggestions? Taluntain Mon, 11th Aug '03, 7:14pm Actually, I think it makes sense to expand the forum to include online playing of all titles... However only online-specific things should be discussed in it. Not that there are any other very online-friendly games apart from NWN and its expansions out at the moment (and not on the horizon either), but still. Makes sense to leave room for expansion. If nothing before it, NWN 2 will eventually come out... Sir Belisarius Mon, 11th Aug '03, 7:44pm Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Adventure Online! Mathetais Mon, 11th Aug '03, 7:49pm umm, how about Adventure Online? :thumb: :good: Sir Belisarius Mon, 11th Aug '03, 8:27pm Or ALFA and Omega: Gaming Online Taluntain Tue, 12th Aug '03, 8:13pm Come on people, I need imput from more than 2 persons. This forum is for all of you, after all. Blackthorne TA Tue, 12th Aug '03, 8:40pm Following the latest trend for computer RPG naming: Shadows of the Online World ;) Gnolyn Lochbreaker Wed, 13th Aug '03, 12:54am Online Adventures works for me, or Adventures Online. Something such as Fantasy Gaming Online would also be appropriate. Capt. Tripps Wed, 13th Aug '03, 4:46am if we could sub-forum it,I would say On-Line Adventures, with an ALFA sub-forum, otherwise Online-Gaming sounds good. Frostbite Thu, 14th Aug '03, 1:10pm Online Adventures would be good, Fantasy online, Fantasy gamong online. Everyone has good ideas. And the idea of having an ALFA sub-forum sounds cool too. Zorac Thu, 14th Aug '03, 7:10pm I really tried to come up with something but all I end up with are stuff like: RPG across the globe, RPG: Meet us on-line. And to tell the truth I really like Gnolyns "Fantasy Gaming Online" better. Taluntain Thu, 14th Aug '03, 7:12pm Subforums are not possible, just FYI. Sir Belisarius Thu, 14th Aug '03, 7:15pm Belisariuses Basement Bastion Mathetais Fri, 15th Aug '03, 3:15pm Belisariuses Basement of Bondage? (wait, that's a cyber-store my filter automatically blocks!) ;) :spin: Okay, I've given this 5 minutes of thought, and would have to say ... I don't care. Wait ... just had a thought. Boooooooooooo! Booooooooooooo! Adventure Online Mathetais Tue, 26th Aug '03, 7:28pm I like it. Simple, to the point, popular with the girls ... just like me! (having just read the Real Ultimate Power site I gotta say, "This name is soooo sweet it makes me want to crap my pants") Mesmero Tue, 26th Aug '03, 9:42pm I like the new name, especially because it is something I suggested :p . It was not the best name suggested in this thread, but I guess there is no reason to debate Tal's decision. The description bothers me a bit however. It says: "For posts concerning multiplayer and online playing of all the D&D games Sorcerer's Place covers." Imagine this: two people play the official campaign of NWN together, over the internet. Questions about the game itself (how to do quests, location of henchmen etc.) probably need to be posted in the Neverwinter Nights forum. But where would question about the more technical side of NWN go? For example, how the two people would connect to a server to play the game together. Maybe there is room for clarification in the forum description, before people start asking stupid questions in our precious ALFA... uhm... I mean Online Adventures forum. Taluntain Wed, 27th Aug '03, 12:36pm Actually, I wanted to include that, but I thought it'd be pretty obvious that story-related stuff should go in the original forums and the rest here... I'll update the description. And Bel, I did take your idea, only reversed it. It slides off the tongue more easily this way. Sir Belisarius Wed, 27th Aug '03, 12:46pm Booooo! Who's saying it out loud!?!? Just read to yourself! ;) :spin:   Aikanaro Thu, 28th Aug '03, 7:57am Ooooh, nice. Is this for online forum based games as well? Frostbite Thu, 28th Aug '03, 9:09am Oooo! I should start checking BoM more often for when stuff like this happens :D @Aikanaro - I believe that this forum is only for multiplayer information etc. of the games covered by SP, like NwN and stuff. Taluntain Thu, 28th Aug '03, 12:32pm Check the forum description. For posts concerning multiplayer and online playing of all the D&D games Sorcerer's Place covers. ... Aikanaro Tue, 2nd Sep '03, 11:57am Heh, I'm good at paying attention to absalutly nothing :D |
