I am also currently beta testing a new Persistant world. If you like party tactics you will love this place. When you go up against a group of Zhents. THe fighters rush you. THe cleric's will cast some spells, (and healing spells for their troops). THe mages will pick out the strongest player in the party and attack them. Normally mages first, then the nearest PC who is attacking their own party.
And they do some cast some massive spells.
You will need to have NWN/SOU/HOU installed to play the game though. It should go into OPEN BETA for anyone who wants to play beginning of February.
The Highlands Project (http://www.thehighlandsproject.com) is where it is located. There is a FAQ on the webpage to answer most of your questions.
The views are stunning. You can also check out the screen shots. There should be some more posted soon, since I took some last night.
Normal advancement to lvl 20. Once you try to go to lvl 21, you will need to see a trainer.
There will be spell compononets in the game (to match the Player's handbook). SO any spell a wizard or cleric needs to cast that require compononts, you must have them to cast that spell. (fairly easy to find though).
There will NOT be alot of magic in this world. If you have a +3 item, you will be very lucky indeed.
Check out the message boards there for more information.
