Great RPG!! New poster.

Are there any time limits on NPCs or quests, other than Korgan and the Book of Kaza?

Are there any other quests or time limits?

Is there a best time to trigger ch 3?

Any + or - for putting off quests til Imoen is found in Chapter 4?

Can quests received in chapters 1 to 3 be finished in 4 or 5?

I'm in Ch 2 with enough gp to trigger ch 3 but am curious about the consequences. I've read up on many game guides and such, but have not seen these questions addressed.

Thanks,

Jere

OK: First off, you cannot compltet any quests from Chapters 1-3 in chapters 4 or 5. However you can complete them in chapter 6 (and possibly 7, although I haven't tried that myself).

As for time limits:

In chapter 5, depending on the way you handle things, you will get a series of timed quests, but I will leave that for you :) (No spoilin' here ;)) . But, the majority of NPC quests have a time limit, but that is only after you have picked up the NPC yourself. The quests that I can remember are:

Cernd - Druid Grove
Jaheira - Going to the Harper Hold (I'm not too sure about this one)
Nalia - D'Arnise Keep
Jan - Returning to his lost love

There are more than this, I think for Keldorn, Edwin, Haer'Dalis and Balygar, but I am not too sure about that.

Other timed quests usually are quests for your Stronghold.

Great RPG!! New poster. Old questions ;)

1. There are "time limits" on all quests related to NPCs. However, you will probably never break those - NPCs will complain if you haven't gone where they want for a while.
Almost no quest that is not related to NPCs have "time limit". For example, you can deal with Druid Grove months after you were in Trademeet.

2. There isn't such thing as best time to trigger ch 3. I do suggest you to go for it as soon as possible because you can get Mace of Disruption and modify it in one of the best game weapons - and that mace can be found ONLY in chapter 3.

3. Imoen is not related to any quest: quests don't depend on her nor she depends on quests. However, if you do plan to keep her in your party once you find her, I suggest you to skip some quests so she gets some experience later when you do those in chapter 6.

4. No. But they can be solved in chapter 6. Unless those are NPC related quests so NPCs leave you for testing their patience.

5. No bad consequences as I stated above - only benefit that you earlier get the Mace of Disruption. You've read guides? There is no such advanced guide as these forums! So anything you need, just ask. ;)

6. WELCOME!

jlhough,

mini quests concerning sick, cursed or poisoned people usually have a time limit.

It's normally 10 days.

Extremist, Wildfire and all,

Thanks for the great replies! I can see there are some knowledgeable people here.

I guess my main concern was in trying to get Imoen back ASAP so I can give her as much xp as possible. So I wanted to make sure all the other quests would be there to finish after getting her back. Why? Because I don't like Nalia as much for a mage/thief and I'm not sure Jan J will get high enough in level to really be all that useful as a mage. I haven't met Edwin yet but he would not solve the need for a thief.

I haven't done my Paladin stronghold quest yet (windspear hills) and I'm wondering if I can put that off until I get Imoen or should I do that in ch 2 or 3?

This is the best RPG game I've played yet, and I go all the way back to the early Forgotten Realms games... Pool of Radience and the like. :) Nice to have some intelligent company here.

Best, Jere

Extremist, I thought your reply, and Wildfire's were VERY inttelligent, detailed, and well thought out. Much more so than on another BB I tried out with the same questions.

I guess I'm trying to decide how much experience I want to give Nalia (Imoen's replacement) now or to wait until I get Imoen back later to do the rest of the exploring and quests.

For that matter I'm wondering how much exp my party should have in general in order to go on to ch 3 or to 4 and 5. I'm pretty strong in fighting, now with my Paladin lead, Minsc, Korgan, Keldorn (who I just took in an released Anomen), Jaheria and Nalia. A bit weak in cleric/healing, but with this group I shouldn't need too much of that.

I'm also interested in checking out Jan J as a thief/mage. I took him breifly and released him on good terms, so I should be able to get him back later if I want.

I also looked at Airie who seems like a good alternative with both mage and cleric spells, but I parked her becouse of the multi-class level deficit. (Tough choice, due to the growing emotional involvement ;)

This is the best RPG game ever! And I go back all the way to the early Forgotten Realms games, Pool of Radience and the like.

Thanks again for the great advice and the welcomes.

Jere (looking for a better pseudonym :)

Some other *very* time triggered quests can be acessed in the underdark: Just a hint: Hurry up when a drow orders you to do something ;)

jlhough, I can't find the thread about it, but someone actually skipped almost ALL Athkatla quests, went for Spellhold, and succeded! The reason is in experience related monsters - you won't see the same monsters on some places if low or high level.

IMHO, replacing Anomen is not bad idea, but replacing Anomen with Keldorn is definetly worse idea. I really can't say anything good for Keldorn.

Errrrr, I'll skip commenting other NPCs, actually I find them all useable (except Keldorn).

Finally, will you please tell us what was the name of that other BB? Don't post the link!
