View Full Version : Bad IWD2 manual
Modjahed Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 12:57pm The IWD2 manual I have on my disk is corrupted, it says bad format or smth. Due to my knowledge of D&D I was able to create party, play the game and write my solution.
However, it will be nice to have a manual. Can anyone who already has the game and has free/fast internet, zip the Manual to volumes of 1.3 MB (my mailbox won't let through bigger files), and mail it to me at modjahed@sorcerers.net.
I would really appreciate that.
Jesper898 Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 1:48pm i will when i get IWD2
Extremist Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 5:12pm Modjahed, if that says bad format, you should probably update the reader (if it's PDF doc, then install newer Acrobat Reader).
If not, be patient.
However, I have to remind you that manual is NOT updated - the game in some ways is different than the manual. My suggestion: read the text in the game. Use manual only for tables and stuff like that.
And why is that? Manual was printed "ages" before the game was finished with.
Rastor Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 9:50pm Modjahed, you never got a printed manual? I got both the PDF and a paper one with my game.
Modjahed Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 11:09pm @Extremist:
I have Arcobat erader 5.0 I never saw anything newer.
TABLES IS ALL I NEED!!!!!
@Rastor - no, CD's here are not sold in paper boxes with printed manuals. Usually a russian development company (e.g. Fargus) buys a wholesale license (or smth like that) from the US developer and has the right to distribute games on the territory of the former USSR.
So I just got two CD's.
Herf Tue, 3rd Sep '02, 11:46pm Hmmm, I know it sounds stupid, but you can you can grab the manual from the IWDII discs? If it's not available to see on the disk then try just installing the game again, the game will copy over the manual a second time and maybe this time it won't be corrupted.
Modjahed Wed, 4th Sep '02, 11:45am The file is copied from the CD during the installation, OK. But it won't open. It looks like the file is corrupted on the CD in the first place.
Rastor Thu, 5th Sep '02, 10:08pm That's awfully rare. If I were you, I'd return it because it sounds to me like your CDs may be defective. If you're certain that everything else is working properly, then I'll see if I can dig the PDF file off of my HD.
Extremist Fri, 6th Sep '02, 5:47pm Actually, it would be nice if you could mail me that PDF. The game is not in Croatia yet and god knows when it'll be (in a month I presume), so I could get spoiled even before it's released!
If I manage to open the file with my reader version 5.05.
Sylvan Mon, 9th Sep '02, 7:48am Would you mind E-mailing the manual to me also?
It isn't due out in New Zealand for another two weeks, and I'd love to get a handle on the new stuff.
Thanks in advance

Modjahed Mon, 9th Sep '02, 10:31am @Extremist:
I have already installed the 5.05.
@All:
Nevermind, people, looks like nobody mailed it to me so far, and as I don't feel like waiting till the bloody thing is released in Europe - don't bother, I will try to get the file from someone here.
Taluntain Mon, 9th Sep '02, 11:22am I asked a couple of people to send it to you, but no one could find the manual anywhere... Where's it supposed to be?
Modjahed Mon, 9th Sep '02, 6:27pm It should be in the directory where the IWD2 is installed. I have heard that sometimes they make a special folder called "Manual" for it.
The easiest way to find it is to run a search on a computer with *.pdf parameter.
Rastor Tue, 10th Sep '02, 10:22pm I just ran a full search of every hard drive on my computer and found no *.pdf files in an IWD2 directory, nor did I find anything that could be such a file.
Taluntain Wed, 11th Sep '02, 11:14am Extremist told me that it seems that only some of the CDs come with the manual... Very strange.
Extremist Wed, 11th Sep '02, 4:52pm Look, be patient, god knows when will I get the game in my hands and that goes for many SP board members.
I may only promise you that if it's on my CD, I'll mail it. OK?
In the meantime I'll continue to search for it on the net - if anyone decides to put it somewhere like PDF manuals from older infinity engine games.
In the meantime, I can only suggest you to post the solution without "strategies" - just battle/quest/riddle style. The part with strategies can always be added later.
crashtec Thu, 12th Sep '02, 12:31am manual? what manual?! didnt find it.... probably in 1st disc.
Rastor Thu, 12th Sep '02, 9:25pm Read the above posts. Not every CD comes with an online manual.
Salomão Costa Fri, 13th Sep '02, 12:41am My CD came without the manual too. Please, any good soul can email it to me?
Thank you.
