The dragon, well i for one surrounded him and used +4 and +3 weapons on him and wands since my magic had no effect on him. And LOTS of healing potions and healing magic. I don't remember how long it took, but definetely not more than 25-30 mins. And if you sit a whole day, trust me you will get the quests done pretty fast after a time when you've developed a good strategy and so on...

Both Icewind dales are not of the epic length of BG, but still, one day, that's rare I think. That means you have a lot of expirience with other Infinite Enginge games and have a lot of tactics you can fall back on. I used to have a week to play it through, but that's not involving full day sessions.

This game wasn't as long as I had hoped the first IWD hyad a better storyling and was longer I think. This one had all the new wepons and rules ect., but I think they should have copied some of the files from the first IWD so we could gp back to places like easthaven and the other places I think that wouldhave been cool. Overall I think IWD with the heart of winter expansion was a better game than this one. I hope they come out with an expansion for this one like the other or somthing.

I hope they come out with an expansion for this one like the other or somthing. They probably will. if you take a look at the map you'll see easthaven and luskan nad many other places, so i'm sure they'll come up with an expansion :)

Oh, and Yago 1 day really isn't that quick, if you play a lot and love these kinds of games you can do it. this game was lika a really good book to me, i just couldn't stop playing. when i ate i did it as quickly as possible to continue playing, i became obsessed with the game, so i figure if everyone plays the game without going out and stuff they can do it too. none og my friends (the ones that like rpg's) took more than a couple of days to complete the game.

nope, they (Black Isle) are not going to make an expansion, ive read on their website that this is their last 2-D RPG and from now on they are going to work on 3-D ones like Neverwinter Nights. this is pretty annoyin because NN wont work on my computer.

Ehhh... are you sure? becuase if this is the last one then how come they are workin on Lionheart, which is a 2D rpg???

No more 2-D D&D Rpgs. Lionheart uses the Fallout SPECIAL Engine. Also there could be an expansion for IWD2, since no more 2-D D&D Rpgs might just mean no new ones; though this is just speculation.

One day for the entire game? You're either joking or lying because even if you managed to avoid getting killed even once, even if you had the walkthrough right in front of you and even if you hacked your characters stats to make every encounter a pushover - you'd still never finish it in a single day.

IWD II might not be of the same epic size as BG 1 or II but it still takes more than a day to finish. I finished it in a week and I was playing 4 or 5 hours a day at the time.

im sorry, but i have to agree with dshadow on this one, unless you have a mutha beast of a computer, the load times are really going to slow you down.

Well, excuse me but it's NOT impossible and i really don't understand why you would think that? About my computer, i play lots of games, like unreal 2 and stuff... my comp: amd 2900+ 512 ddr-ram 64mb ge-force 4 4200... yes, the load times aren't that long but i still say you all can do it!!! and as i said before, i have friends who also have played through the game in just a couple of days... that's probably becasu they're not the fanatics i am ;)
Oh, if you didn't get it: i'm NOT lyin!!!

DShadow stated, that it is impossible and that he needed a week. And that he played 4-5 hours per day.

Which is 28-35 hours. But it is pretty close to 24 hours.

Maybe it is possible. I do not have a whole day free to play a game. I don't have an account on my real playing time. It seem to me odd to fly through this game in a day. But it may be possible.

Ameorn - how is the time of beeing with your party for your characters? Maybe we could see the difference with our characters time in party.

Finally somebody who's making some sense...
Quicho, i'll write the time here, but i don't get it? i mean it all depends on how much you rest and stuff doesn't it? 163 days and 12 hours. that's the save up in the tower right before you have to fight isaer and madea (sorry for the misspelling)

I can even send whoever wants, my savefiles

I still find it kind of hard to believe, Ameorn. You state you started playing it in the morning and finished in the evening with breaks for lunch, etc, so the overall time spent playing the game couldn't have been much longer than 10 or so hours, right? I thought I finished it pretty quick and it took me 30 hours or thereabouts. Then again, I played by the rules...

Ok, i really don't care if you guys believe me or not. This is my last post here. And dshadow i played for about 15-18 hours (i think) i started at about 6.30 and ended at about 11 pm (not 100% sure about the time though).
And as i wrote before i ate very fast (that's not an overstatement) the pauses overall weren't very long... now that that's out of the way i'm moving on. you should try it yourself first, instead of dibelieving...

I to finish the game in one day. i started at 7 am, and was forced to go to bed at 3 am. i was up to the bit where you kill the preist dude in Kuldahar. i needed breaks cos i was gettin headaches and of course meals too (7). i rushed as quick as i could and only got that far.... you must be a real powergamer, Ameorn. oh well, dont leave the boards, every member counts.

If bg2 can be beaten in a day I think IWD2 can. As long as you can get to the good items quickly it shouldn't be a problem.

I AM 5 DAY LOOK AT THIS CONFRONTATION!!!

And can't no post a message.
(I'm reply first and reply last)
to Ameorn: You start from begining (new party, and how many), and what level of difficulty ( very easy???) ??????
to dshadow: Theoreticaly that game can be beaten in one day (especialy if playing before many times), practicaly .... i don't check...and one more... do you play in EOB??? (for example EOB2.. first time playing i spend 6 (SIX!!!) month for that game (it's was my first rpg (crpg)) for 10th time playing i spend some days (3-4 hours of playing)...
conclude: it is no IMPOSSIBLE things there are..
(or some what in this style.....:))

Yea, i havent finished yet too much school, but i think it can be done because if you have played it many times then you know where everythiing is and dont have to take time looking for it. The first time i played IWDI i took 2 months and only got half way through it then i created a new party and used a walkthrough and figured out where everything was. I then restarted with an even better party after i beat it and finished it in 3days flat with about 4-6 hours each day.

Actually i played it at the easy level, but i have beaten the game at hard and normal too, it took me more time of course but i am positive you can do it in a day in normal mode too...

Maybe I'll try the "finish it one day" idea when I get some free time but I'm not even that sure I want to spend an entire day just sitting there playing a game. Doesn't it get a bit boring after you've been sat there for 10 hours solid?

Ameorn: if you're still checking the replies to this topic, I have a question: Did you just completely skip most of the sidequests? I know you could cut out a great deal of time by dropping the unnecessary sidequests...though the EXP from them sure helps in tuning up for the game's end.
