I recently dusted off this game to finish (got sidetracked when my first daughter was born) and found it freezes when I start a new game or load a saved one (tried installing new with removing the saved games, etc, but that didn't help.) The game starts fine, but when I finish creating (or choosing a party already made) a party it loads on the loading screen until the load is finished, it pops up the circle cursor like it will let me play but freezes totally ( I have to restart comp). Not sure what to do, the game was really fun and I want to play it again. I haven't upgraded anything on the computer hardware wise, still running xp pro with a g force fx 5600 ultra 256mb vid card. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

maybe installing the latest patch will help?

I had similar problem on a slightly older comp. After a little diagnosis, I realized my antivirus running in the background was using up to 80% CPU, so no room to rum games. Check your task master and see what processes are running that you don't even think about. A little googling on those processes should let you know which ones to turn off. Check the computer section here on SP on speeding up your computer to get rid of all the juck clogging up your system.
