The Ease of use mod and the 2.01 have really messed up my game. I didn't back up my mpsaves beforehand, so I'm really paying for it. I uninstalled all the mods first, installed the patch, and reinstalled the mods.

Now all my potions and ammunition have been turned into random scrolls. :flaming: Some stuff has been turned into random weapons too. I went into previous save games and it even affects merchants. :bang: Is there anything I can do? I'm thinking of starting over, but I'm afraid the merchants will be scrambled from the start.

I had the same problem. Uninstall the merchant option in EoU. Sorry I haven't played IWDII for a while and don't remember if I had to start over or not. You can export your characters with the random stuff and start over with some nice things to sell.

I take it that's the "Special Edition" merchants?
Or is it the "Forgotten Armor" merchants too?

Sorry, I checked an old post of mine and it is the random item part that messed me up. As stated above I haven't played IWD in a while. I did export my characters and restarted the game. I had strange items in weird slots but they were worth a lot. But the random item section can mess up some of the quests. I advise uninstalling it. The rest of the mod was great and I wouldn't play without it. There may have been changes to EoU since I played. It was close to 1 1/2 years ago.

Its the 'Randomise Treasures' part of EoU. It scrambles all the items in game. Its a really bad part of the mod as it makes no distinction between normal items and game required items, eg. the Bhareg potion with the Barbarian in theSalty Dog Tavern.
Uninstall that one component. However this means that stuff you got in game is now unscrambled so you get stuff you would have originally got. If you aren't too far into the game, I would suggest restarting. Else make sure that you unequip all weapons, sheilds, quickslots, armour et al from you charecters before you uninstall that component. If you end up dualweilding 2 crossbows due to the unscrambling the save will no longer load.

when you have EoU is it normal not to be able to get potions of extra healing? i know this is slightly off topic but it's really bugging me!!

By the bridge fight I had 10 potions of extra healing. Actually I had fewer potions of healing. Just ensure that you dont have the randomised treasures component of EoU.

that could be it actually, i just keep getting scrolls for healing spells

THAT'S what tipped me off that the merchants were scrambled too. If you don't see potions of extra healing ANYWHERE, then EoU has messed things up. Too bad really, the other changes are great so far. I love infinite stacking and getting some more interesting items.

And this component is enabled by default? Must be some sort of weird revenge strategy aimed at people who don't read the component descriptions.

 Well yeah.
Serves 'em right to allow a mod to install all components without checking through each one of them. :p

Where's the fun in reading all that? Just load it in and see what happens

The Randomize Treasure component says the following:
WARNING: Remove all items from all character before UNINSTALLING this
component because when you uninstall it the items will revert to their
original forms and you may end up with strange combinations (like wearing a
ring in your bow slot or something).

My stuff did not revert. So yeah I read it. I guess I was foolish for believing it.

Search for README-IWD2-Ease.txt
Its in the iwd2-ease folder in the main game folder.

Alternatively. You got WinRar, right?
Use it to take a look inside the file you downloaded. Its in the iwd2-ease folder within the Weimer-IWD2-Ease-v15.exe.

winrar is a zip program, kind of like WinZip on steriods ;)

When i migrated my game from my old Pc to my new one, I didn't have random treasures on, but accidently turned it on on my new pc. It was quite obvious when I loaded up my game and saw that I was wearing a broadsword around my neck ;) Anywho, all I did was re-run the mod and uninstalled Random treasure and everything was back to normal. I guess of course, if you played your last save game before undoing the mod, you might see some odd stuff after uninstalling, but for me, it was pretty simple.

Don't worry, Bleedme. I had to ask what Winrar was a few weeks ago as well.

Vassago - that random treasure thing is hilarious when it happens (but boring when you have to fix it up)

WinZip is just another compression program, like WinRAR. None of which has anything to do with this topic, so if you have anything further to ask about it, post it in the Techno-Magick forum.
