Does anybody out there know why the new portraits are larger than the old ones? I hate to think that I am going to have to convert my IWD1 and BG2 portraits to a new size. I know, I know; I'm just being lazy!

Both portrait sizes are different, small and large. The new interface uses them differently, that's why different sizes. Check the screenshots: http://www.sorcerers.net/Articles/iwd2_preview2.htm

So if I understand I can't use my portraits from IWD1. Is there an easy way to resize hundreds of portraits from the old size to the new size so I can use them for IWD2? Thanks.

Well for the large ones you could do it with a program that allows batch resizes, but they're very rare. ThumbsPlus might be able to do it.
The smaller ones are square, so you couldn't resize them, you'd have to make them anew.

Such util you may download here: http://www.irfanview.com/
In File menu you have Batch Conversion command that lets you make anything including resizing to whole set of pics. Also you may crop here a whole set of pics with a single click to any other shape you want - including Tal's square. And filter them, shade them, mix them,...
Oh, have I mentioned that it's a freeware viewer/converter/whatever that covers all known and unknown formats except Microsoft's SNP (which noone covers except Microsoft in Access Reports)? ;)
Remove ACDSee already!

Extremist, as usual, you are the man. This will let me use all my pics from the old game just fine. Since I downloaded Lady Nightshade's entire collection I didn't want to have to do all the resizing by hand. There are such too many pics for that. Now with a few clicks I'm all set. Thanks.
