I'm new around here, but here's a tip (don't know if anyone else has noticed)
You can ID items with your bag of holding, just open the bag, select the unidentified item and clic on "send to container". It'll be identified.
I'm playing a unpatched version, so I don't know if this works on other versions, but it saved me lots of spells.
