after enabling all the cheat codes and setting on the config console, i am able to open up thje map, create gold and etc etc
but when it comes to creating items i get a msg that says
"nice try cheater"

can anyone explain this, and how to bypass it?

What are you typing? Upper/lower case as you type them, the code is case sensative. Check the IWD2 section of this site (sorry don't know how to do links) and pay careful attention to case. I believe they all have to be upper case letters on the item codes.

yes i have tried all different combinations, and its only when i do it the correct way that i get the "ni try cheater" msg, if i dont do it properly, ijust get a general file does not exsist error msg

as far as i can tell, i only get that particular error msg when i do it all correctly

If you are entering just the way it says I'm afraid that I can't help. I had the same problem but haven't had the game loaded since I switched PCs about a year ago. I'm sure one of the more informed people will help you out.

Last thing I can think of, are you adding the 00 before the item? PC-cheater.com had a list of cheat ccdes (as does SP but I can't DL them here at work) I do remember that typing them was a pain in the butt. I think you may have had to do the ",*) thing even if you only wanted one unlike BG1&2.

yeah i tried with and without the OO
also tried all diff combinations with " ] and so forth

and the one that should work is the one that gives me the nice try cheater msg

Are you using [ and ]? If you are don't and see if that works. Try ("OOBOOT01",1)

Are you confusing BG2 and IWD2 cheats? The last time I heard of this was when someone typed CLUAConsole at the beginning of the code, rather than CtrlAltDelete.

nope, no confusion

ctrlaltdel:createitem("OOCLCK04",1)
tried that, that tells me "nice try cheater" msg

but i have also tried a lot of different combinations and item codes

Well, the code should be ctrlaltdelete rather than ctrlaltdel. Just replace that and it should work fine.

@quickening I geuss I should have had you type out what you were typing, I could have saved some time. Oh well I got my number of posts up and fired myself up to reload IWD2 when I get home.

Since this has now become the unofficial spam thread, I'll add a post too.

 Brallrock
As far as adding links goes, just copy the address and paste it in the reply. UBB will automatically convert it.

I never managed to get the console up and running despite slavishly following every guide book, cheat site and hint dispenser - I always ended up with "nice try cheater." So I constructed my own little patchette by copying the [Lua Edit] bit of the BG2.ini and pasting it into the IWD2.ini - then I wrote the codes for the Armageddon Blade and Chain on the first two lines, and saved. Going into the game, the console still didn't work as it was "supposed" to do, but just opening it, scrolling to the Armageddon items, and hitting Enter resulted in me getting them. But it's probably easier to write "delete" instead of "del"...

I had a copy of IWD that I could nto get the cheats to work, I got it off ebay and I think it may have been a corrupted copy.

I never use the console but thought I recalled that the "nice try cheater" was a little joke the devs put in after making some small changes in how the console is accessed compared to BG...I guess a geeks got to find his fun where he can...LOL
