View Full Version : It's coming!
Taluntain Mon, 4th Feb '02, 5:26pm Well, if you've been following my writings on the front page you've been expecting it, but still, it probably came as a surprise.
What we can drool over:
-uses the Infinity Engine (so no 3D)
-all the improvements from BG2 & ToB
-all kits & classes from BG2, plus Mercenary, Giant Killer and the Dreadmaster of Bane as new kits (among others)
-new sub-races including the Drow and Tiefling
-over 50 new spells such as Executioner's Eyes and Aegis, bringing the total to over 300 spells
-new items, weapons, monsters
-projected release date May 28, 2002
Check the front page of SP for more details.
Sir Yerril of Morningmist Mon, 4th Feb '02, 6:36pm Am I the only one who thinks they're stringing this out a bit?
Not just IWD, but the whole, I don't know, Infinity engine genre?
Eg. the other day, my friend said he killed Kangaxx. He was all excited and leaping everywhere, but it had no effect on me. I found myself thinking "Kangaxx.Hooray."
ANYWAY, IWD2! Hooray! :D
Looking forward to paladinning some more in new locations! SMITE IT BABY!
Big B Mon, 4th Feb '02, 6:46pm Wohoo! I haven't even beat the first one yet and I am so excited! (started it the other day) Great stuff!
Ragusa Mon, 4th Feb '02, 6:53pm Great :) :spin:  :heh:
Sir Belisarius Mon, 4th Feb '02, 7:00pm I personally love the Infinity Engine...It's fairly versatile, gives lush scenery and graphics, and tends to be great for storytelling! As long as IWD2 doesn't require hundreds of little gopher trips like BG2 (my biggest pet peeve) I am excited to see it!
Egglord Mon, 4th Feb '02, 8:07pm 1st thought: Ooh, tieflings.
2nd thought: Oooh, Executioner's Eyes. sounds nasty.
3rd thought: Ooooh, DREADMASTER OF BANE!!!!
Mathetais Mon, 4th Feb '02, 8:29pm trying not to get my hopes up .... too late! This looks wonderful!  :spin:
the_eleven Mon, 4th Feb '02, 8:45pm Sweet! I'm definitly looking foward to IWD II. The handful of screens from the game look amazing.
I agree with Sir Bel, hopefuly there won't be lots of 'gopher' quests, as he put it. I would like to believe that the developers will stick with the same style as the first. A very refreshing game after the major questing in Bg and SoA.
Corr Raven Mon, 4th Feb '02, 9:39pm DROW! DROW DROW DROW DROW rule supreme.
I think that could be the best game yet!
IWD, for me, had the best atmosphere and great music; if only it had been bigger.
IWD2? that will rock!!!!!!!!!
Palpatine Mon, 4th Feb '02, 9:42pm Looks awesome.
That first screen shot at gamespot looks cool, finally get to fight two (or more?) dragons at once (even if they look young). And DRIDERS (an enemy I found strangly absent in the drow areas of SoA and ToB).
Plus with drow and tieflings I can make a party with Viconia AND Annah in it! Oh joy :)
Orkrist the Cleaver Tue, 5th Feb '02, 5:10am Yes, very exciting. I was afraid it was lights out for any more of Infinity RPGs. I love these games, more so than the 3-D types. Great visuals, music, voice acting and IWD I thought had an acceptable story all things considered. Good to have another game to look forward to.
NoYur_Role Tue, 5th Feb '02, 7:09am boy did the guys at Infinity ever pick the perfect time to uncork this one!!!!
void Tue, 5th Feb '02, 10:25am Help..."gurgle"...Drowning..in...drool...must......have...game... .
Big B Tue, 5th Feb '02, 5:39pm This is what I'm talking about when I say companies shouldn't jump the gun on annoucing games. Wait until they've got some goodies to show, and a release date not too far off. It looks like IWD 2 is creating awareness just fine.
Z-Layrex Tue, 5th Feb '02, 9:06pm I....I....I....need this game.....please IWD is my life...my one reason to live....
SLASH SOME SNOW!!!
Arabwel Wed, 6th Feb '02, 9:21am *drools*

Lazy Bonzo Mon, 25th Feb '02, 9:52pm Finally my tiefling party can take shape and conquer the world muhahahwahhahawha. I've gotta have this game.
TheBlackRose Mon, 25th Feb '02, 10:41pm As well, IWD2 will most likely add some credence to the "all-shorty" party with the sub-races.
Halflings and Dwarves and Gnomes, Oh My! Heh.
DemoGorgon Tue, 26th Feb '02, 4:59pm I have to agree with Bel and the rest, I love the infinity enginge, runs nice and looks nice. *DROOL* 300 spells!!
