As you all know, this spell ignores MR.
Do you think it's a bug, because I don't see any good reason?

Faraaz Tue, 25th Nov '03, 5:09pm It bypasses MR? Heh, I did'nt know that... Rastor Tue, 25th Nov '03, 7:10pm There's no spell actually cast on the target. What you're actually hitting him with (according to the engine) are +5 projectiles with fire damage. This is a bug, yes, but it's one that nothing can be done about (other than making the enemy immune to +5 weapons or less, which would be really annoying.) Razal'dar Wed, 26th Nov '03, 12:27am Just on that note, how would you defeat an enemy with +5 immunity? With a +12 Hackmaster, mwahah! Rastor Wed, 26th Nov '03, 1:21am Just on that note, how would you defeat an enemy with +5 immunity?Exactly why I don't really feel like playing around trying to fix this bug. Mystra's Chosen Wed, 26th Nov '03, 3:21am It could be done, but not easily. You'd just have to keep lowering their MR so that you could get 'em with spells. Chris Williams Wed, 26th Nov '03, 11:25am Melf's Minite Missiles are missiles so there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to hit MR creatures with them any more than you shouldn't be able to wallop them with Mordenkainen's sword. It ain't a bug, it's correct behaviour. Rastor Wed, 26th Nov '03, 10:47pm What I was calling a bug is that it is a spell with the ability to affect creatures totally immune to magic, that isn't right. You'd just have to keep lowering their MR so that you could get 'em with spells. Huh? Sparhawk the Pandion Thu, 27th Nov '03, 2:22pm That's how you could kill something with +5 immunity- lower their MR and kill them with spells. CamDawg Thu, 27th Nov '03, 5:12pm Magic resistance and being immune to +x weapons are independent of one another--lowering MR won't affect what weapons can hurt a creature. Sparhawk the Pandion Fri, 28th Nov '03, 1:48pm I know that. What he was saying was that if a monster is immune to +5 or lower, the only way would be to kill it with offensive spells (since there are no +6 weapons in SoA). Septic Yogurt Fri, 28th Nov '03, 4:10pm MMM is one of my favourite spells, try throwing a time stop into the mix, its a deadly combo to throw at anything. |
