View Full Version : Configuring list

Hi, as you know, like most of the other D&D games developed by bioware or had some association with them, there's always a little way to configure your game a bit more than usual. Usually in the *(game name)*.ini file. Usually add some options blahblah=1 etc. under certain [ headings ].

As for Icewind Dale 2, I can't seem to find anything for this. And I'd like to know if anyone has a list of options there are for this. If nobody has a list, the least I need are the ones that disables the introduction movies and when the screen fades from black to the regular color after you do a quick save or finish loading, or any kind of transition. (I did try some of the options from bg2 and nwn, but they didn't work.)

(I did try searching this forum, I may have been searching the wrong words, but I couldn't find anything on this.)

If you're looking for the Debug Console, you can activate it by checking the Enable Cheats box in the IWD2 configuration. Press CTRL-TAB to bring up the console while playing.

NOTE: Some commands in other D&D games does not function in IWD2. Also, the command line of IWD2 is:
ctrlaltdelete:xxxxx("yyy")

I'm not looking for the debug console, I'm looking for a list of altering options you can add in the icewind2.ini file. I don't know how you got the idea of using the debug console with cheats. I even mentioned above specifically about the .ini files of other games and how you could alter those.

And I really don't think you can use that little console to disable introduction movies, or even that fading at all.

Hmm... I got *that* one wrong...

I certainly don't know where to find the .ini file for IWD2.

Sorry. :(

By all means then, take yourself to all the other IWD2 forums overflowing with activity. I'd like to see one myself. In any event, your question could only really be answered by one of the people who worked on the game, and even before Interplay died, they wouldn't bother to make a whole list just for you. There aren't any such lists for any other game (that I know of), so I wonder where you got the idea there would be one for IWD2.

Well, i'm not necessarily looking for a list, but mainly the ones such as disabling the introduction movies and disabling the fading. I know for one BG2 came with a whole text file that has everyone in a list. In onfficial NWN forums you could ask and there will be anyone to give you the command.

Guess IWD2 just isn't as popular eh.. =/

That's where you're dead wrong.

I know for one BG2 came with a whole text file that has everyone in a list.Really? Please show me where you've found this, or send it to me. Because pretty much everything of that nature is on SP, but I've never heard of such a list, let alone seen it.

Someone might know one or two switches that were given to them by support, yes, but I've never seen a full list of this for any of the games.

IWD2 was popular for a time, but, like the original IWD, the interest waned rather quickly.

@Taluntain

I think he's referring to the baldur.ini file...

@player

Am I right on that one?

We all (well, most of us anyway) know what he's talking about. He wants a list of all the switches that can be used in the game's ini files. Every game comes with an ini file once it's installed; that's where all the settings are saved. But there are many switches which can be used in the ini file which are not present there by default. Those are the ones he's interested in.
