View Full Version : No kits in IWD2?! griffin1987 Fri, 31st May '02, 10:49pm what the hell? please cmon!! Blackthorne TA Fri, 31st May '02, 10:54pm IWD2 has been fully converted to the D&D 3rd edition, so there are no kits, and no need for kits because all classes are more customizable through skills and feats. Mathetais Fri, 31st May '02, 10:55pm Gotta love an educated question to stir conversation ;) Griffin1987 ... check out some of the threads in this forum about how IWD2 will use the Third Edition D&D rules. That means no kits ... but the good news is that your characters get Feats and much more flexibility in multi-classing. It will be a new system for us all to learn, but think of all the fun we can have while learning. Ragusa Fri, 31st May '02, 10:57pm As you can see when you check the link below, <UL TYPE=SQUARE> http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum14/HTML/000023.html [/list] this are not really fresh news. Since ranting won't change anything anyway, calm down and look forward to 3e multiclassing. Though it can't really replace some of the kits unique abilities, it will be something completely new for the infinity engine. Eventually we have survived IWD and BG-1 without kits either ... [This message has been edited by Ragusa (edited May 31, 2002).] Voltric Fri, 31st May '02, 11:09pm griffin1987, do you know anything about 3E D&D rules? I would go read up on the FAQ on this board to get a better understanding of the issue. As BTA stated, there is no need for kits in 3E. The feats/skills system is much better and more flexible. YOu should be cheering about the change not being upset. griffin1987 Sat, 1st Jun '02, 3:49am no i dont know anything about it. your right. DemoGorgon Sat, 1st Jun '02, 3:48pm I was upset when they first took out kits too, but then i really started to like 3E multiclassing. I think it will be a great game. griffin1987 Sat, 1st Jun '02, 6:14pm yes i agree...i have looked up this stuff. pretty cool (i like it better) but i instead of just having the class name ranger...it looked cooler with "Archer" Kenshiro Sun, 2nd Jun '02, 6:30am Yeah, I mean, the class kit names sound cool. Kensai, Blade, Assassin, etc, etc. You know? TheBlackRose Sun, 2nd Jun '02, 4:31pm Yes of course the kit names "look cool." But wouldn't you rather have substance over style? DeBhaal Stasion Mon, 3rd Jun '02, 5:10am griffin1987, just make a fighter or ranger, (fighter might work better, they get more feats) and give him only feats that involve archery, such as(not sure if all these are in or not) precise shot, far shot, rapid shot, shot on the run, and such feats, and maybe a couple that involve melee weapons(dont want him getting chopped up now do ya?;)) and call him an archer. Works perfectly fine. Gunthar Mon, 10th Jun '02, 5:13am Bah, kits :p who needs em anyways? I'd much rather build from the ground up. 8people Wed, 12th Jun '02, 2:21pm Are there still the specialised mages? Voltric Wed, 12th Jun '02, 4:41pm Yes, specialist Mages are in IWD2. They were never kits, althought they were treated as such in the later releases of 2E. |
